Terabox claims to offer a terabyte of completely free storage, which is a hundred times more space than most other providers. However, my experience with terabox was quite disappointing.
While the web interface is good and easy to use, the service falls short in several areas. Firstly, the advertised terabyte of storage space is not immediately available, and users are required to invite friends to use the service to claim it. However, even after following the instructions, I did not receive the promised upgrade. Moreover, several users have reported that terabox reduces upload and download speeds over time, which makes it virtually impossible to fill up the terabyte of storage space.
In addition, terabox has a limit of 4GB on file uploads, which is inconvenient for users who frequently upload large files. The service also displays ads, and even ad-blockers cannot block them. Moreover, the video quality is limited to 480p resolution, and audio quality is severely compressed.
The terabox mobile app is confusing and frustrating, with sketchy ads and an automatic backup feature that backs up users' phones without their consent. The desktop app is slightly better, but there are still ads and a confusing interface.
What's more, terabox is based in China, which is known for breaking privacy laws. As such, storing sensitive information on terabox is not recommended. It is also worth noting that terabox is just a rebranded version of dubox, a service offered to clients in China.
Overall, I do not recommend using terabox. There are several other free cloud storage providers, such as pCloud, that offer a better experience in every way.
