Why? He’s very ignorant on the subject to say the least. There’s actually more “secular” history on the life of Jesus Christ then there is Cesar or Alexander the great, but nobody questions these people why? . Also the Bible is a valid history book, One learns how to read it correctly in its proper context.
Whether Christ was a real person or a metaphor is irrelevant. Someone or something happened approximately 2,000 years ago, so monumental, that its still studied, debated, preached, sung, written about, loved, hated, prayed and of course, fought over. If its a conspiracy, the people behind it have been doing an amazing job keeping it going.
No, mankind is just stuck in stupidity. Abrahamic cults are one of the worst things that ever happened to us. If we make it through these times, someday we will look back at religion, especially Abrahamic ones, in horror, and wonder how our ancestors could be so insane..
The Christ consciousness is a nice template for higher understanding and well living with one's self and others, however this is an ideal, not a person. There are many examples of those that have lived their lives in this higher state of consciousness and awareness, and they naturally attempted to spread this lifestyle to others through various religious philosophy and living example because it is/was so fulfilling and prosperous for themselves that the desire to share is uncontrollable.
I used to believe on that same thing a week ago, saw Steven Bancarz apology video and realized that I have been learning a demonic form of Christianity. I always thought about diving back into scripture but never really got around to it until recently. that teaching consciousness is being taught by Oprah Winfrey, Eckhart tole, depak Chopra, and a lot of "spiritual" leaders. they figured out how to pull christians from their beliefs. what you believe in is called is within the "new age" beliefs. Idk if you watched spirit science like most of us who got sucked into it, but the creator , Steven Bancarz, has apologized for sparking such a heavy false demonic religion, and how to had an experience with Christ, and now he's like full on evangelist haha
@@tradertom4843 I don't know who Steven is or follow Spirt Science, but I do know who Thoth, Hermes Trismegistus, Enoch, Seven Rabbit, and Jesus were. They are the same as many people who's names are not told, and who's stories remain for those alone that shared their time with them. They are the teacher's of higher truths. The organization of the church is in itself a bad idea, however those that lend and care are drawn to the advertisements of organized religion, and the already congregated and welcoming ears of the open minded. The corrupted outweighs the original intention. The church is you and your buddies, or you and your family... the connection and oneness is inevitable with loved ones, but it can lead one to conceal or forget that it is actually all people, not just those called to services and acknowledging one path.

I’m a struggling Catholic, not quite a “recovering Catholic” as McKenna once said. He was a very interesting man, but I don’t know how accurate this is. Even if it is not true it’s just fun to hear him talk haha
Well then how do u explain the religion that came after christ,,, Islam.. u can't deny all the stories written about Jesus and the ones who came before him. Such detail is in their book Quran
I'd say about 3/4s of his historical assertions are accurate. To even know this much about early Christianity at the time this was recorded shows some real dedication on Terrences part. The inconsisties are excusable if only because we know way more about early Christianity now than we did just at the turn of the century.
Wrong... He was a Jewish extremist railing against the Roman Empire with the "Zelotes." (Origin of the word "zealot" in modern parlance) He went into the temple... whipped the establishment, and "Simon the zealot" cut off a dudes ear with his sword. Jesus was to Rome, what Osama bin Laden was to America. A figure manufactured for war in Israel.
@@chrisjames3666 The only thing that Jesus and Osama had in common is that nothing told about either one of them are true, and both stories are used to control humanity..
haha yeah there needs to be like a good cartoon knowledgable one with mckennas talking about history and mathematics for todays youth, that would be a funny little scene
Jesus frequently gave subversive responses when the authorities tried to corner him. "Shall we pay tax to Casear," they ask him, and he answers with a question of his own: "Whose face is on this coin?" "Caesar's." "Render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." The traditional interpretation is, basically, to give the devil or the world its due. But what is he really saying here? GIVE CAESAR BACK HIS FACE, perhaps? Or EVERYTHING IS GOD'S? The coin, if not the face upon it, belongs to God; that is, to the poor. This seems more in keeping with the spirit of Early Christianity and the all-or-nothing declarations common to Christ.
A few thoughts off the top of my head: 1) he claims that the census didn't happen because there are no extra-biblical records. We don't know that there weren't any Roman records. However, I would be curious to see if any early Romans disputed the Gospel's claim that there was a census. 2) Christianity was viewed as a sect of Judaism and not as "Christianity" until at least the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70, and it was not a major force in the Empire. The fact that Roman historians aren't talking about Jesus and "Christianity" until after that point should therefore not be a surprise. 3) History as a science did not exist until fairly recently. The Evangelists were not concerned with writing a "history" of Jesus as we imagine a biography. They wrote "Gospels" or "Evangelio", which is its own thing, being a proclamation of the identity and victories of a king of general. The 4 Gospels are declarations of Christ's identity and of His victory over His enemies, not "histories" or "biographies" as such. To that end, the Gospels include what they include to accomplish that proclamation. 4) The first Christians understood what the "Messianic Age" was. They were not dumbfounded that Jesus didn't return right away. If I remember correctly, the book "The Religion of the Apostles" goes into more details about that. 5) Christianity had order and structure from the get-go. They may not have owned property at first, but they were not a bunch of disorganized hippies living in communes. The clerical orders, liturgies, prayers, readings, etc were very well developed very early on, as they inherited that from the Jews, whose cycle of prayers and services were also well-developed at that time.
I love all of the things Terrance says. I have heard so many observations about the Bible and those who follow, and for me, I have taken it as this; Where do we learn to be good people, and what is at the top of that order. In every religion, the aim is to be as much like our creator as possible, which is to tune into the frequency of said being. With all the people in the world, who do we really know has it on the dot? All of us are human, and are due to mistakes, but there’s no way we’d see a mistake as one, if there was no reason to. But something guides us when we ask, and it does it perfectly every time. Someone had to show everyone in the world at some point in time, what the most optimal way to live is, so that everyone on this earth may share the gift of lifestyle this entails. the west is totally backwards. Instead of a society being focused on helping each other maintain a Christ-Like consciousness, and to operate at your max, the aim is to be dumbed down, unhealthy, and to be more like Satan as possible
Heaven isn't a place Christians go if they ALL behave! It's a place of internal balance! Heart and mind. Inside each one of us on a spiritual level...to each his own!
"The kingdom of God is within you" always seemed pretty self explanatory to me, but apparently that part of the Bible wasn't meant to be taken literally. That's fundamentalism for ya, though.
There are so many devout Christians in this country they collectively have the time to be upset by words from a dead man, that if you listened to its not really that negative towards christ It's not depressing but it does seem hopeless to wish we'd all look at this stuff going on and find a page where the words mean the same thing
They are annoying though. Wtf they are even doing here? I don't go and bash them on christian-filled to the brim video, why the fuck they bring their's shit here with their's "enlightment"? Listening to McKenna feels much better than to that zealatory of any type. He does not judge, he does not hurt, he just says what he feels.
@@t.va.6611 well I say they should hear mckennas talks same as me and you. I don't know how they twist what he says to be worth fighting with. And yes he does have a way with words but I will say some of the best orators have been faithful Christians priests, not to mention Christ himself.
Didnt he become an ascended master? It would explain the mystery and lack of evidence about him. Theres no way someone worhips an average human being to such extent.
The blood is a metaphora. For me I believe Jesus wanted ”god” above to understand that they are not bad for killing him ”for they do not understand what they are doing”. It is a strong image of one having pains beyond imagining and still having the strength to forgive his killers. The point of christianity is that those who can feel compassionate to that pain and want to do better than these people did to Jesus, will be saved. This whole father, son thing is also in my opinion just a image created for us so we could understand the concept in our animalistic minds. I am not one to judge anyone’s believes for I have no answers myself, but these teachings are valuable to each and everyone always.
Great psychology, teaching people to be kind , jesus was smarter and teaching people good things LIKE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IS ALL GOOD!!! MAYBE HE WAS A GRUPY??
Brian Muraresku has interesting take on it. If anyone is intereting in Mckenna and early christianity check Murareskus book "Immortality key'. He gave few interviews (with Joe Rogan or Jordan Peterson or Alex Gray) in which he talks about ideas from his book. Well worth checking. And remember Jesus was the Mushroom.
"In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.... That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world." There is real history surrounding Jesus, more than most. Brant Pitre wrote a book that stands above a lot of junk out there. It's called "The case for Jesus". read it with an open mind as we should encounter all things. Peace to all God's creations and may His light that shines in and through you everyday be apparent. :)
Christianity is based on a mushroom cult that was lead by an actual Christ. It is said that the blood he shed onto the earth created the sacred flesh of Source, psilocybin mushrooms. That which Is above is as that which is below. It’s written in the stars. It’s written in ancient literature. It’s written as the body and blood of Christ which is the flesh and blood of the mushroom that transforms water to wine, walks upon water, and cures the blind, the lame, etc. The living waters. The fountain of life (as it does spring forth from the earth as such). The beginning and the end of the earth, as Terence mentions that mushrooms were the first life forms to make rocky earth habitable, as well as the last because it would take the complete vaporization of the earth to destroy all mycelial networks within. The light of the world; psilocybin is the only phosphorylated indole found in earth: Christ already being associated with rising Venus and phosphorus=light, as shaitan is associated with sulfur. Notice that majority of the shamanic psilocybin sacrament based indigenous tribes were wiped out by Rome and/or assimilated/removed/raped/pillaged/enslaved/killed; then Rome’s military industrial complex (psychopathic mental complex) replaced holy/completing sacrament/spirit food with the spirit of booze to decrease perception of their crimes instead of increase perception of truth. Terence hinted toward some of this whether or not he knew it; which is why central intell shut him up with a brain tumor.
Wouldn't that be insane to go 2000 years in the future to find out that some random guy working in an office somewhere is saying things that will make him be worshipped as a god by millions of people one day?
He’s not wrong, but I can see why people would be defensive about a claim that he provides no evidence for. Consider this: Christianity is based on a mushroom cult that was lead by an actual Christ. Just for clarification, Christ is not a 'name', it is more of a 'title' or a description of someone who had partaken of the anointing ritual. I forgive Terence's choice of words in this case. :)
They put Jesus on the pedestal and not his teachings of his secrets. Shame on that. Disgusted in Christians. Not all. Just ones who cannot accept the fact Jesus is not what they think and how they think they are the only holy sacred religion for religion is only one side of the box.
Christianity (true Christianity anyway) is not a religion.. Jesus, and Christianity is the antithesis to religion. People who are not illuminated however do not understand this. And I don’t think they can without being illuminated.. What I speak of is that of coming to the truth and being born again as Jesus said. This is actually a moral issue. Most people do not care enough to want to know or listen to what Jesus said. But that is exactly how He said it would be..
Christianity is based on previous religions. The old testament is the talmed essentially, I believe, which is based on earlier works of the assyrians, akkadians, zoroastrians et al, which in turn were based on Sumerian writings. Obviously man-made and elaborated on. The Christian concept of god, and there many variations of this concept, is less than 3000 years old. The bible, the original and the king james versions are both political constructs to bring other religions under control of the rulers of those times. History and the bible itself contradict current interpretations of what christians say they believe, as well as the actions of these self same christians.

source material for a lack of source material? he is saying there is no source. if you can find credible sources which suggest otherwise then you can refute his claim.

This man has obviously ruined his brain with all those psychedelics. There have been decorated atheist detectives who tried disproving Jesus and they are Christians now... I wonder why Terrence stopped taking psychedelics since there is "so much information there"... and please don't insult me with Alan's Watts comment. The Terrence brothers were devote psychedelic users who claimed to actually be "learning" stuff from the other side yet he quit. Either he learned all there was and "hung up the phone" which wouldn't make sense since nothing he has reported has furthered humanity a singe inch... so the other possibility must be true and he realized he was screwing his brain up and opening himself to demonic forces..
It is not a matter if Jesus did live or not. As the linguist John Marco Allegro, who decoded in the gnostic scroll writings of the Qumran-caves - written in Armaic, the language Jesus used - explains: "Probably a person named Joshua orJesus has lived at the beginning of the first century (...) but he has nothing at all to do with the Christos, that the gnostic writings term "the the healer and redeemer", which was used as a code for the usage (ingestion) of sacred psychotropic mushrooms. Allegro's quote here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Es5yBwOrLS0.htmlm24s Alike Osiris (Egypt) and Attis (Phrygia) embodified the Wheat, this communion of the messiah with the plant sacrament itself (the vegetative plant deva or spirit) is rooted in many pre-christian, heathen, shamanic traditions like fertility cults. So Christ was a mushroom and when Cardinal Ratzinger became the christians pope the first book he published carried the Title "The historical Jesus" ... well, I wonder Why ;-)
Nothing of what you wrote is based in fact nor supported by facts. I would pick your entire post apart but honestly I already know it's pointless because you obviously have no problem conveying your opinion as fact with video references of people who also speak on subjective terms. HISTORY tells a much different story so try actually doing real research and providing no biased opinions to misdirect people.
zezt zezter I just finished reading "Psychedelic Gospels" The Secret History of Hallucinogens in Christianity by Jerry B. Brown and Julie M. Brown. Absolutely irrefutable, undeniable proof that Christianity arose from a mushroom cult. Builds from the works of John M. Allegro (who to his detriment was ostracized and chastised for it) and R. Gordon Wasson ( a JP Morgan vice president, and an ethically devoid person). A must read for anyone interested in the subject. It's all in plain sight in Great Cathedrals throughout Europe with color plates of Mushrooms in Artwork. In The garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge and the forbidden fruit was not an apple, it was a mushroom!
zezt zezter Yes Paul Stamets is the number 1 authority and expert on mycology, and just and amazing human being. He is a part of my library, I own and have read many of his books. I've watched numerous videos on and of him. In this book I just read they brought Paul Stamets in to identify a Mushroom the authors had noticed on a souvenir they had bought at Roslyn chapel of the main and largest of the Green men carvings that are staring down from the ceiling. Paul took one look at it and immediately identified it as Amanita Muscaria, it was so detailed right down to the striations! This is what set them on their journey to churches and Cathedrals to find and catalog any other mushrooms in medieval works of art. What they found is just amazing, there are Mushrooms everywhere hidden in plain sight!
I feel more ethically concerned with the hereafter rather than the here and now, and I believe that may be a more permanent conditioning. Immanuel Kant’s Kingdom of Ends captures my imagination. At the same time I believe in honoring family. This is also called filial piety.
Saul/Paul of Tarsus never spoke of a Jesus 'on the ground' in human form. Not once in all his writings. For him The Christ was purely spiritual and speaks of an age before the Gospels were written where a god-man named Jesus was not known about let alone worshiped. Highly controversial/heretical to Christians that came later but that Christianity was an evolution from the original form(s). Some speculate Paul was a gnostic, and when the later Christians assumed power their enemy no.1 were the gnostics and their writings.
Everyone has a individual internalization of everything they experience. Religion is one of the most debated topics in our human history, and yet we haven't found consensus. I believe that everyone has truth to their beliefs, the same way everyone sounds wrong to right set of ears. One or even none could be true, but whats important is that these conceptions / religions are all pointed in the same direction, we all desire the same destination from religion. Ultimately I believe there is a higher power, were all deeply connected and rooted to the universe, the universe experiences novelty and consciousness through events and life as we know it. Wether thats god, buddha, shinto or any other figure, these are all titles we have given to the true all being we have yet to truly reveal / discover
I think everyone has a different belief of what is true or not, I think what is important is our ability to adapt to new ideas and thoughts. To me this COULD make sense, people have a capacity to bandwagon to the name of others to put money an power in their pocket, if you don't consider that that's not being objective. We can arguments abt mushrooms all day but it really comes down to doubting your ability to predict what is and isn't correct.
The crucifixion could be seen as an allegory for ego death. Psychedelics is a peek into the back door of enlightenment / full communion Etc. however faith without works is dead. which Baba Ram Dass learned and taught after spending time with Timothy Leary. If you'd like to see something interesting look at a map of the life in Jesus and compare it to a map of Titus Flavin conquering Judea culminating in the siege of Masada. many people forget that the historian Josephus last name was Flavin as well.
So much ignorance. To think Jesus died for us so we could arrogantly sit behind keystrokes and makes such disrespectful comments. The Bible IS HISTORY. If it wasn't don't you think it would have either been factually disproven and destroyed by now?! Yet 2000+ years later his word is EVERYWHERE. Jesus loves you all and died for you, all he asks is you live for him. Just remember it's only too late when your dead. For a non believer you only have 2 possibilities when you die. Either there is complete nothingness which be honest no one wants to even think about just not existing anymore and the fact that we can almost prove a spirit exists so the other option is hell. Eternal damnation, all because you are "too smart" and "too proud" or maybe you just don't want to look in the mirror and realize your not as good a person as you think you are. I hope you find the truth because death is permanent the question is where will you spend eternity. I find it so sad that people would really arrogantly believe we just spawned from nothing when there is so much more evidence that we were created. If you think a robot is an amazing creation how can you look at yourself and think you evolved from a rock, not a monkey a rock because that's the theory of evolution my friend. Before you bash me site references because I have plenty of the complete fallibility of evolution, Big Bang, etc.

This makes no sense that there was either no, or only one, mention of Christ all the way until 71 AD. Peter and Paul (and plenty more) were in Rome well before that. I'm now sure how he is asserting this
This is not bad for not having done much research on the topic, but if you want a very deeply researched and full account of the Jesus myth, The Jesus Mysteries is a must read. Great blend of history and research into comparative religions. The key is the teachings of the Gnostics which were only revealed in the 1940s during the nag hameddi dig. In my opinion, Sacred Mushroom and the Cross was very unconvincing and just got attention for the audacity of its claim. No attempt to understand the subject historically.
Well McKenna doesn't seem to be a follower of the "Jesus myth" model anyways. And actually that's not what garnered attention for the Sacred Mushroom and the Cross. What gave it enough traction for attention was simply due to the fact that Allegro himself was a renowned Aramaic scholar.
I RECALL TERENCE SAYING OR WRITING SOMETHING LIKE, 'THOMAS THE DOUBTER WAS A KEY APOSTLE, CAUSE HE HAD HIS SHIT ENOUGH TOGETHER TO DOUBT' - THE IDEA BEING THAT HIS ROLE WAS TO WAIT UNTIL PHYSICAL CONFIRMATION EXISTED BEFORE ACCEPTING THE RESURRECTION WAS TRUE
For some reason I always associate this guy with drug use but this was quite the sober examination. So since Jesus likely never existed then probably the disciples eponymous to the Gospels didn't exist either. I've thought for some time that it was philosophers who wrote the Gospels. There is some great philosophy in there especially if you are familiar with ancient symbolism.
Why do you think theres archaeological findings that are linked to christ then? also why would the caesar write about Jesus if he didnt exist in his books?
@@seanhammer6296 You would have to make a claim for me to refute it. All you said is: "Jesus likely never existed" and "probably the disciples...didn't exist either". You're not even confident in your own position.
The return of Christ is not physical. Christ was not his name, you are Christ. The Bible is an allegory for the journey a soul goes on back to its communion with the one God, love.
That's bs Christ was written about with pontus pilates letters to Cesar the first hand account of his death it's wrong to say he wasn't mentioned at the time

6:20 Terrence is totally lying here. Please listen to lectures from actual experts and scholars of these subjects. in stead of blindly following a man you revere. From Wikipedia: "Mani AD 216-274 was the prophet and the founder of Manichaeism" The only significant source listed there for his life comes from around 400AD. Quote: "All other medieval and pre-medieval accounts of his life are either legendary or hagiographical, such as the account in Fihrist by Ibn al-Nadim, purportedly by al-Biruni, or were anti-Manichaean polemics, such as the 4th-century Acta Archelai. Among these medieval accounts, Ibn al-Nadim's account of Mani's life and teachings is generally speaking the most reliable and exhaustive. Notably, the (in other accounts prominent) image of the "Third Ambassador" is only represented through a brief mention of the name bašīr, "messenger of good news", and the topos of "Mani the Painter" (which in other Islamic accounts almost completely replaces that of "the founder of a religion") is completely absent" Conversely, Pauline letters dating from the 40s and 50s already mention christ and a worked out theology - thats peanuts after christ's death in the early 30s. There is much more extensive and close-to-the-facts documentation as compared to Mani, who lived LATER. Terrence is completely talking out of his ass on this and cannot stand the scrutiny of honest scholarship

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. That's what I suspected about this guy. Everything last century coming out of the universities was devoted to tearing down Christ and building up Third World religions. Not because they were better. but because anything not Christianity was deemed good.
NOT KNOWING THE EARTH IS FLAT AND SPACE IS COMPLETELY FAKED DOESN'T MAKE U A PURPOSEFUL LIAR. PEOPLE HAVE SAID THE PSEUDONYMS USED, OT OSS AND ON ERIC, REFER TO OTO ALL ALONG. I RECALL HAVING OTHER LIVES, AND I USED TO POST ABOUT THIS ONLINE A LOT BUT NOT DIRECTLY IN REFERENCE, WHERE WE USED THE CIA ETC TO PROMOTE ACTUAL FACTS AND AN ACTUAL GREEN AGENDA, SO IF U ASK ME I'D SAY U PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT, AND UR A ENEMY OF THE EARTH ITSELF AS A CONSCIOUS BEING. DO U NOT AGREE THAT A KEY THING THAT HE PROMOTED WAS THAT THE EARTH IS CONSCIOUS AND THERE IS WAAAY MORE TO REALITY THAN THE USUAL LIARS U LIVE UNDER CLAIM?
I love McKenna but I think he's a little off on this one. Well, way off honestly. He's an expert on psychodelia and spiritual phenomena but not Christian history or theology. Take this one with a grain of salt
@@NWLee I've heard all the sumerian stories and all that jazz but my question is, if the bible is a fictional story then what makes you think the other so called histories are true? I think its because belief in Christ requires some discipline and humility, which is hard. It's much easier to believe whatever you want and not have to change anything about your lifestyle. Not that I know anything about your lifestyle. Maybe you have never done anything bad enough to feel the need for repentance. I have. I've hurt people I love and Jesus Christ was there for me when I wanted nothing more than to destroy myself. He gave me a new life and purpose and fulfillment that none of those other gods could. But every man is free to believe whatever makes him feel better about this crazy thing we call life so more power to you if you like the idea of being genetically engineered by aliens. Just be good to people because we are all in this thing together
If Terrance knew what he knew truly to the soul, he would have been able to change things for the better. So Jesus is a potentiality of the coming of a possible Christ-like consciousness. To know what you know is to do great works in that knowledge...saying less..doing more. So Jesus will come again I believe..but if we have faith, not so much in his body..but of the spirit..where the three become one..as you are able to understand by knowing. You don't have to question or be misdirected..you create your truths to be self evident..where Terrance is correct in his truth its another potentiality that fades away
He did change things for the better... Even if we ignore all his insights and philosophies and hypotheses which are still bearing fruit to this day... He and his brother quite literally brought psilocybin mushrooms to the modern Western World with their mid-1970s book on how to grow psilocybe cubensis in one's own home. This single book set the trend for a series of other similar home-cultivation psilocybin mushroom books to then subsequently follow, which made psilocybin orders of magnitude more common and accessible to the average first-world urbanite. Yes, Tim Leary and Wasson went down to Mexico and there were some musings about mushrooms in the mainstream culture in the wake of the Harvard Psilocybin Experiments but for the most part, if an average person in 1960s America wanted a psilocybin mushroom experience, they basically had to either go down to Oaxaca or some other exotic location, or they had to travel to some rural area after it rained and then locate some cow pasture(s) in hopes of flipping over cow pies in order to maybe find this stuff. Him and his brother brought over the ultimate mystical and esoteric experience and direct pipeline to the Other, and countless people will continue to have these experiences more and more and there's nothing you can do about it LOL
Egyptian religion is African religion. The idea that Egyptians were separate from sub Saharan or should I say “black africa” is inaccurate. Many Egyptian religious customs were founded propagated by black Africans that featured prominently in Egypt and even ruled Egypt for a turn. That is all
Jesus the human is far more interesting to me than Jesus the son of God, the devine being. Unbelievable accomplishments for a man. For a God not so much.
No body was smart enough to count people wherever they were in the “kingdom”. They first had to walk back to their home towns…hundreds of miles away …..that sounds easy….
