One of the best, if not the best, Grand Pas Classique I've ever seen (yes, I know Guillem version). Mariinsky principal Victoria Tereshkina and first soloits Anton Korsakov. Kirov Mariinsky ballet, Gala in Japan, 2007.
Tereshkina is a jewel! Her dancing has so much confidence and personality and her technique is flawless too. I also love her Odile, incredible acting and poise.
Wow! She's the only one so far that I've seen who actually got the feeling and essence of the music and choreography of the dance. Love it! I prefer her version and her arches are to die for! Bravo!!!
She is just... exquisite. In general, but especially in the Grand Pas Classique. I remember watching a video from (I guess it was) her graduation performance...Back then you could already see her great talent, I was very impressed by her strong technique but she already had that fine artistry that made her seem a lot more mature than she was. Excellent artist.
In some parts like ballonets with right arm en haut Guillem shows her super strength. But with graceful Mariinsky port de bras, Tereshkina makes this piece more scintilating! So I think Tereshkina version is far miles better!!!!
Molto bravi. BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO 😊😊😊😊
You are correct in your description - Guillem and Hilaire -- its not just the dancing! this is or can be a personality piece -- this (above) is GREAT dancing.
I too have watched Guillem, and I agree that she is not the end all when it comes to this pas de deux. my personal favorite on youtube is the Elisabeth Platel, Nicholas Le Riche version. But then I am not too big of a fan of Guillem's.
Lovely. Can't decide whether this or the one done by Elisabeth Platel and Nicolas Le Riche is my favourite; they've both got that lovely, clean, elegant, regal look, and excellent musicality. Thankfully, I don't really have to pick
my opinion is i like how Yuri Soloviev R.I.P. does this better. I also think he was better then Nureyev. They graduated in the same class together at the Kirov and they shared a room on the tour in paris. I always thought wen nureyev got older his pirouettes got sloppier but who knows. Also Yuri Soloviev has beautiful beats there so clean and look so easy.
Please, anyone, who composed the music? I can usually recognize Minkus' phrasing and orchestration. This does not sound like Minkus, but I am no expert, obviously. I have to disagree about Korsakov. I find him compelling here. I usually pretty much ignore the male, especially, as in Vishneva's performance of the Don Quixote pas de deux. Oh, was there a male dancer too? No, these two here are, to me, outstanding. I have watched this clip many, many times. I love it. It is perfection. Both dancers display great style, elegance of movement. So, Anton, is winded. Can you blame him? That stuff is hard work. We can all agree that this is great dancing. Oh, to be able to see ballet like this in the flesh!
This version if definitely more exciting to watch, techincally not all there but exciting because i love Tereshkina's expression and joy in her dancing. She made up for the fact that Korsakov bores the crap out of me. Imagine if Korsakov and Guillem did this...it would be pokerface central but technically perfect.
@theamazingsoter I also love Komleva/Soloviev and it would be difficult to me to chose between them and Tereshkina (whatever her partner is, as long as his dancing isn't complete disaster. She outshines her partners anyway).
That would be a nice solution. When I have a glimpse of Genia with Chudin in "not anymore swan lake pdd" I got insanely greedy to see Vika in it. MT got shortest stick in male partner department.
I believe Chudin would be a great match with Tereshkina if they could have the chance to dance together further more. Though her retire balances in adagio looked most easily with Korsuntsev!
@moeonline97 I think it's not even the case if someone dances or not. But I also don't like when someone says "This dancer is the best" and then hundreds of people just can't accept it but they say "The best was Plisetskaya/Fonteyn/Makarova/Maximova/Pavlova/Guillem/whoever!", as if everyone had to like dancers who are legends, and can't like anyone else.
They're good but not great or not the best. I prefer Platel and LeRiche also Komleva and Soloviev. They were musical, clean and very sharp. These two were too delicate for my taste.
i think guillem has a control of extensions of that height that is unrivalled. also, during the solo variation, i find that tereshkina heaves her body too much towards the end - making it look heavy and difficult. guillem's one version of the grand pas classique i can watch without feeling the fear of the female dancer falling down.
I would love to see Tamara Rojo and Marianela Nuñez from Royal Ballet do this piece. They can pick their partner, I don't really care, I just would love to see the two of them who are balance freaks do this pdd :) And as @ssssnooooo says "great dancing is not judged on whether or not the dancer makes a mistake" if all dancers did it like Sylvie G did it, God how boring wouldn't that be? Thank God for personalities and interpretations!
I love Tereshkina, one of my very few favourite ballerinas, but here... do not like the style. While she is usually shows so much elegance and simplicity, I find her style rather vulgar here. Swaying hip here, arching back there, over-seductive expressions... I want the real Tereshkina back !
I JUST SIMPLY DID LIKE IT... SHE WASN'T QUITE THERE...ALTHOUGH THE GUY WAS VERY GOOD. I PREFER GUILLEM..... AND I AGREE WITH TEDSLER... I´D LIKE TO SEE M. NUÑEZ IN THE GRAND PAS CLASSIQUE.
I personally think Tereshkina is the most physically gifted dancer since Guillem. But I'd like to ask Anton Korsakov: Do you like performing??! Every time I see you finish a variation you look like you are in so much pain/very annoyed.
A bit late but I 'd love to answer. He is not in pain or annoyed. He feels music deeply, he loves dancing and always think what he dances about. He is just not sociable. He doesnt have social medias, doestn smile often, is not talkative, keeps everything inside but it doesnt affect his beautiful dancing in any way. And as a partner he is amazing
She's not able to stay in balance and has to fall slowly to wait her partner 1.55 min. Again 9.58 don't stay in balance. Not graceful. Noisy landings. Audience can love any ballerina but saying this is better than Guillem's is an insult for her.
She is such a prima ballerina and she danced this piece amazing what are you talking about French Elegante?? We also knows french dancers but she is another level sorry!!
Dorothéa Ventura she is absolutly amazing what are talking about french sytle?! She is one of the best ballerina in the world. French dancers next to Russians sorry but not my type... Case close next case ..
@@mlledo Grand Pas Classique was choreographed by Russian choreographer Victor Gsovsky, so Russian style is quite appropriate. Stop with the French arrogance.
Tereshkinais amazing but this russian style with the irrelevant n de bras to fill n the gap in music...I just prefer French dancers to this variation. And above all Elisabeth Platel ❤
