One detail I read in another comments section: the Needles that kills Tanaka is actually the easiest one in the game because he is actually pretty damaged, meaning Tanaka didn’t go down without a good fight Even in his L he took a W
In the same vein, if Needles kills O'ssa, you find him with all his limbs severed (the meta way to kill yellow mages in fh1) meaning Needles wasn't taking chances with him. Tbh everyone on that train was a surprisingly tough customer.
A mary sue would be liked by everyone and perfect at everything so I dont see how anyone in this game is like that, closest would be august but he still is not he is just a good guy. Osaa is not portrayed as moral , more loved or better than the cast as Mary sue's are , he is just the most competent due to his background and he came her on mission and takes Termina seriously knowing what it is and considering his mission.
@@geralfol117what they said. O'saa being in the know and genuinely not heavily impacted by his surroundings kinda makes him feel very stu-ish imo. Like he knew this shit was going down and came to check it out.
@@coldeedosaa went there because nashrah wanted to kill legarde and he thought he would get more power from helping him. He had no idea the festival would happen
I find it interesting that O'saa is really the only one out of the contestants that actually has set foot in the fear and hunger dungeon and encountered legendary beings such as the Crow Mauler and Nasrah. Edit: August is another contestant who most likely has been in the dungeon of Fear and Hunger. He's a descendent of Ragnavaldr which is hinted by Moonless being a "family friend" and him being an experienced monster hunter. Ragnavaldr canonically survives his encounters with the dungeon and returns to his home land after vowing to eradicate monsters(he trains his people on such). TL;DR August comes from a long line of chads and O'saa is servant to an old fart of a new god that somehow hates the god of death and destruction despite getting powers from him. Also Nas'hrah in Termina looks like a burnt dr eggman.
@@emilianodelgado6573 I totally forgot about that. Yeah he's the reason you don't absolutely get destroyed by the Moonless in the cave encounter. He most likely befriended that particular Moonless in the F & H dungeon.
@@Evasiv That's actually really interesting and it seems he may be hinting having seen the F & H dungeon. I just did some research right now and it seems he comes from the same country as Ragnvaldr(character who is Outlander class from the first game). I have a feeling he may have heard many stories because of how the country's army investigated the dungeon many years back. That probably led to his exploration.
True, true. Plus, as a Yellow Mage, he has some of the best chances of winning the festival, because of his years of magical experience. The only other character who knows any magic at the start is Marina, and quite simply O'saa might be able to pull ahead with experience in a straight magic-on-magic fight. Of course, if they have weapons, O'saa can make use of two-handed melee weapons, whilst Marina is able to use firearms. Also, the longer the fight goes on, the stronger magic O'saa gets, thanks to La Danse Macabre and, depending on how you spec his intro he can start with a decent magical attack in pyromancy trick, which can certainly help in the early game when your weapon access is more limited. If there was a canon four-person team, using the statistically best members, then I'd personally say Daan (for healing), Marcoh, Marina and O'saa as the team that makes it through. Marina is able to engrave and boost up the allies, Marcoh is an absolute beast in combat, Daan is the only person with medical expertise on the train, and O'saa is the strongest offensive caster of the game thanks to La Danse Macabre (This is using their default skip introduction stats. So Levi in this is still addicted, though even if he wasn't the scarcity of ammunition in the festival is a massive drawback for him)
I love Olivia because she doesnt let her disability define who she is, she always acts like she is as capable of acomplishing things as anyone else, and i love that, specially because she can outlive people who had far more chance of survival, and also because she is really pure and nice, to me its a really well written character and i have to confess i like her for the "Hot wheels" and the MLG memes
It's funny to think that everyone else uses powerful weapons, occult knowledge and magic and Marcoh just goes up to evil, unspeakable horrors and goes like "Square up bitch"
I’m hoping that they take a different path through the city. Throughout the game there were several areas that looked like they had lootable boxes but I could never figure out how to get there. Plus all the aerial walkways and rooftops. I hope playing through august gives you and ability to jump over most obstacles.
I really love Marina she's very chill throughout the game, I was fully expecting her to act more aloof and keep everything to herself like Enki but she just seem like a cool person to just hangout with I really like the scene where Caligula is being an ass in the train and if you try to apologize she'll defend you saying "fuck that you didn't do anything wrong"
I... I can't with Caligura sorry. He'd be F tier if there was one. He's just got creepy old man vibes especially if you play as Abella. His moonscorched form just confirms it all for me. But again this is fear & hunger. Pav and Henryk would go down tiers for creepiness too, but I still like both of them. Pav admittedly comes off as kinda badass. I can't dislike him as much as Caligura. My fave chars to play: Olivia, Daan, Marina and Abella in that order. I think the only char ive yet to play was Marcoh.
I kinda disagree with the “mary sue” designation, what it is is competence, and August and O’saa are both in their element. It is actually interesting to have characters with more of a grasp on the situation than others.
Apologies but Marcho is my #1 G. That guy is carrying me for my first successful playthrough. TBQH he's made me a bolder player albeit usually bites me in the arms, legs, head and ass. Great content keep it up brother.
very happy with tanaka being in s tier. i was gonna argue for him being higher than pav because despite being an "everyman" he has...a lot going on that implies he's probably more than that but honestly you say that about all of the characters who aren't playable yet.
I saw marina art meme about abelle pull her skirt up and show she have a bugle,I was thought it just a strange trans meme,I didn't thought it's actual thing in game, from what I read on wiki
There's nothing wrong with grading every character at an above middle tier, after all it'd be pointless to give someone a worse tier just because "no one else is as low"
Marina backstory is so good and sinister, she’s something else, I’m surprised she’s in B and someone like Marcoh in A just because a scene but that’s your list haha
true her time at the ninth circle would prolly give her some mad magic capabilities (plus doesnt she canonically have, or used to have at least, the ability to read minds?) but also some serious drawbacks. I wouldnt be suprised if she had less max health or something like that as a trade off.
Yeah that's honestly the biggest problem with Samaire is that she feels like an extension to Marina, at first I was super curious about her since she hides on the train and I couldn't get her to leave, and then I managed to find her on the church and fought against her moonscorched self, then I looked up how to save her and.... that's it, that's all the history there is to her The backstory she reveals when talking to Marina is interesting, but all the interesting bits about her happen on day 1, and then it's nothing for the rest of the game
I still really like O’saa. To a certain extent I can see why he might be seen as someone with Mary Sue energy but I think those traits are reigned in/given context in a way that makes them not only work but work well. O’saa is confident and competent. An expert but also a self imposed outcast pursuing his own goals (though not as selfish as other yellow mages). It’s this separation that I think helps his character really shine when you’re first playing the game. Depending on what you’re doing O’saa can be that weird loner asshole you want to kill, a sought after valuable professional you’re finally able to recruit to your party, or if you’re playing as him you get to feel like you’re someone with a unique goal and a leg up on the competition. It might be that a broader look makes his character feel bloated compared to the other characters, but it’s undoubtedly effective for someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about the story.
If you find him outside the Church of Alllmer, he will warn you not to come closer or he will attack, and if you come closer he attacks. Not exactly random.
What if they made Tanaka a challenge run character like Olivia? You have more things gunning for you then every other character. After all the grind never stops
how your game look less fog like that ._. i mean, when im playing all the screen is cover with white fog... going around at day time is a torment for my eyes...
Pav is essentially a tragic hero. He joined the army to stop a dictator, aiming at revenge for the horrible things they did. Along the way, Pav became cruel and desensitized, basically coping hard that it all be worth it once he succeeded, then he fails. When you fight him if he lives from trying to get revenge, he's pretty much a broken hysterical man. It's a sad character with a decent amount of depth to him. He had a strong sense of justice and conviction, but lost it trying to change the world for the better.
@@joaquinbaume1291 well yeah. Pav basically just hits on Marina and threatens to shoot people same as Karen constantly does as an NPC. Caligura on the other hand is quite rapey lol.
