We flew from here a couple of weeks ago - I think there are some great advantages to flying from a smaller airport - it takes a lot less time and stress to get through the various security stages than a large airport and the staff are lovely and friendly! On the down side, the place needs cleaning up - there was a lot of rubbish around the place and the walk to the furthest gate is a LONG way on a cold morning! I could not recommend it to my elderly mother for this reason so I hope this issue will be addressed with the new plans.

I do agree that there does seem to be insufficient ground staff on many occasions that I have flown from Leeds and Bradford Airport with regards to litter. With regards to the problem of the walk to the gate, I have seen many people over the years dressed already attired for the climate for their destination and seem to forget that we are flying from an often wet, windy and chilly part of the UK. I have seen many dressed in only T-shirts and shorts only to stop halfway on the long walk to retrieve a jacket or coat from their hand luggage. This was in the summer this year. I don't know, some people Eh!

That’s the reason they needed to expand but I’m afraid it’s not pulled through

Might help if you cleared litter on the floor next to baggage carousel before you film the video?

I have no problem with expansion of the aiport but as a long time user of LBA through the many years of its development I see nothing here to address the real deterioration of departure waiting area especially facilities for passengers needing assistance .

The plans to expand and improve the airport is great. But the transport infrastructure including roads ,trains, buses are forgotten as usual. The extra traffic on the already congested roads will not help local residents commuting to Leeds and Bradford. Can anyone tell me how and when this will be addressed or will it just get delayed or cancelled as is normal. We get empty promises and no action.

How about the people flying in on a regular basis from abroad?

What about a runway extension and a proper taxi facilities

Chris Russell the runway doesn’t need an extension, it copes fine. Plus the only aircraft that come in are A320s and 737s with some 757s and DH8, there’s no point obviously. Common sense!

North Aviation if the airport is serious about growth and development then yes the runway does need sorting out! Bigger planes generally need longer runways to operate safely, the airport has clearly said that they will see much larger aircraft and that the airport will be able to park and dispatch larger planes! LBA is already getting left behind, DSA has direct flights to Florida and will grow! LBA will still be messing about with short haul bucket and spade stuff!! It won't be long before LBA is at its capacity then what will they do!! Another food outlet isn't good enough!!

Common Sense would bring a runway extension, but not the finance required to fund it. Remember the most you could extend the Runway too would be 8651 ft, and not an inch further: It could never be as long as DSA, with an ex Military Runway: Also remember a Runway extension would have to go on Runway 14, but would not increase neither the landing distance on Runway 14, or the take-off distance on Runway 32, due to the proximity of the Chevin. The landing distance on Rway 32, would be increased as well as the take-off distance on Runway 14, but it would be a huge financial outlay, which private enterprise can not realistically afford to risk, as there is no guarantee of a return within say a required period of 3 years: Also if you extended the Runway on the 32 end, it would have to be stilted such as the Madeira extension. At the moment it aint gonna happen realistically, although if the aprons are extended considerably, and more than 10 free parking stands are available, they may need to do something with the Runway, but at the moment, there's no heavy justification for spending the money: I would float the company on the stock market, and raise £140 million, for the Runway, and other much needed projects, such as a Railway link, with an internal road connection to it and parallel taxiways to both ends of the Runway: However due to the cost of such projects any parallel taxiway to the end of Runway 14, could only go from the Bridge edge, and not the full length: Because of the airports location, only so much can be done, infrastructure wise, unless you can invest hundreds of millions of pounds, rather than millions: At the moment the problem they seem to be having is potential new airlines are saying to the airport, no problem outside, but the Terminal, can not process passengers effectively, so the Terminal extension must be a priority: Also with new technology, ILS systems, a small Runway extension, on Runway 32, may be a remote possibility one day, but at the moment is a non-starter: However, before any other projects, the Runway should be resurfaced, and that I have been told may put a modest extra length on it, and the Runway has not been resurfaced in over 30 years:

Why would a runway need an extension?

The local councils and MPs never supported this project and demonstrates their incapabilities and incompetence of the need for such a project for sustainable growth and investment in the region. The claim of damage to environment is nonsense. Air travel is 3% contributing to CO2, whilst the fashion business in comparison is over 10%. Aircraft in the future will also emit less and with lower noise levels. It’s a pity for the airport and region and the business will go somewhere else. If some specialists would have educated the locals with concern and other certain individuals i am sure the project would have taken off.

12 million?? Call that an investment?? The whole thing need knocking down and starting again haha It’s dirty, old fashioned, confusing, claustrophobic and an embarrassment to the city! It needs a huge investment and facelift and road and rail infrastructure to support the future growth of the city! All these cheap low cost extensions are why it’s a mishmash
