Too busy fathering bastards with anything on two legs it seems. As a guy, it just feels impossible to me to have that many kids and to be unmarried at the same time. My own parents were married for years and had several miscarriages before I came along.

Under any Circumstances you want to spend your life because of being of sound mind , want it official so that it's peace in the mind that you will one day reunite with the one you love. It is sad it's before one of them has their wings and has to leave suddenly and abruptly but they will be reunited.
