There wasn't time. The 600 series was crap and didn't work very well, thus they didn't last long. The 800s were quite recent when Connor made his final push against Skynet. My headcanon is that Skynet wasn't dumb, it could and almost certainly did distribute itself. If I was writing it, I'd have it established that the main Skynet complex they brought down with the time displacement equipment was the original but Skynet had since built several backup facilities in different locations and networked them together. Thus, the war continued though Reese thought it had been won. The time mission(s) were not Skynet's last hope, they were an attempt to preserve its main complex and prevent as much as possible from falling into human hands. The two (and ONLY two) units sent back would be the only ones. Skynet would not try that again, for fear that multiple time incursions could potentially cause serious or even catastrophic timeline disruption and threaten its existence. The fact that the humans managed to gain control of a largely intact base with still functional time displacement equipment proves that their final assault was very well planned and sudden, Skynet may have been "on the ropes" but it could not have believed the humans could or would break through that quickly or it would have destructed that base itself to keep it from falling into enemy hands. They had to have anticipated that there would be a self-destruct and disabled it before it could be used. From there things get interesting, as command of that base and production facilities changes the game. The war could go on for years, and much of it could be Terminator on Terminator. I would love to see something made with the concept.

Kayne Alexander I don’t know why but I’d love to see an Endoskeleton terminator, not a 101, fighting with the resistance, protecting people. It would be even more impactful to see a naked machine with no skin fighting for the survival of humanity.

@Zoomer Waffen Only Fallout thing in this is the lockpicking. This game is actually much more like Metro Exodus in a way. Anyway they nailed the atmosphere. Plus the new free, rogue like Infiltrator mode is very fun as well.

The effects and a lot of the designs are great, even the concept is pretty good, but man did they botch the execution. McG should have been sat down A Clockwork Orange style and made to watch the future war sequences from the first movie over and over again until they sank in and he finally understood.

Oh I agree on the effects for Salvation. Special effects have made a quantum leap since the 80's. And at the time T2's effects were groundbreaking. If you're interested, I know why all the flack against T3 et all.

I dunno, what made me quit the series after seeing the third one was how they threw out the events in the second movie in a handwave. When John says "Wait a minute, we stopped the judgement day!" and the Terminator says "You only postponed it, Judgement day is inevitable." HOW is it inevitable? That is something I would very much like to know, how in the world could skynet still exist in the future and send a terminator back in time, when Skynet really shouldn't be existing after the events of the second movie? I am sure there IS an explanation, some lame-ass explanation like "They didn't REALLY destroy skynet in the second movie, they only destroyed a donut factory" or "Skynet was gonna be built anyway, even without Dyson and the corporation" or even "Obviously, somewhere in the past the timeline skewed down into this tangent creating an alternate 2003!" But when the Terminator said that in the third one, "it is inevitable" I was like "FUCK this!!" and I haven't looked back on it since....

In a way, as long as technology continues to evolve and humanity continues to implement computer software and technology into our security and military, there is always a way for Skynet no be created. In 3, it's as simple as the military got a hold of some of Dyson's original files, but overall Skynet was a completely different entity. In T3, since technology was more advanced by then and the computer fears in reality were viruses, not evil super computers, Skynet was a virus that infected all of earths computers and technology in order to take over.

So.... Why is it still called Skynet if it's not really skynet? (had I written that I would've made a nod towards Harlan Ellison and called it AM) Why does this new version of Skynet still have to send terminators back in time to kill John and Sarah? Why is the timeline still the same if this Skynet is vastly different? For example, why would John STILL be the leader of the resistance and not someone else? The butterfly effect! Shouldn't changes like that actually have a bigger impact than just "no, you didn't destroy us lol". How could there still be Dyson files, when all of it was destroyed in the second film? Heck, the reason Sarah had to terminate Ahhnuld in that film was to make sure there would not exist anything which would allow Skynet to rise... So many annoying questions... But i suppose I should watch the rest of the franchise someday, maybe they give a more satisifactory answer than Ahhnulds "you only postponed it, judgement day is inevitable."

Rise of the Machines was the first one I ever saw so I like it for nostalgic reasons. Salvation wasn't great but it wasn't awful, it was just meh. Genisys was a lot of fun but I thought it was terrible as a movie. Sadly, nothing will ever top Terminator or T2: Judgement Day. Doesn't help that James Cameron's movies severely dropped in quality after T2. Titanic is okay, I guess, but Avatar was lame and his comments on characters like Wonder Woman just make him seem like he's out of touch. I'll miss the old Terminator and Aliens James Cameron. I'll miss the 80's and early 90's era of movies.
