Of course. The T-600 series were built somewhere in 2016. And the reason why Skynet uses rubber skin for the T600 series is that the resistance cannot see the difference between a human or machine at nighttime, because when it's a night time or foggy day they can still pretty fooled easily by their clothing disguises and the rubber skin mask from a mile away.
Those transformers noises always annoyed me. And for some reason at the theatre T600 looked kinda big headed and like it would be just a dude wearing terminator helmet but now that I look at it paused I guess it looks OK
Everything about the Terminators in this movie was awesome. From their looks, to their terrifying sound design, and their intimidating aura. Plus the animatronics puppetry enhanced with some CGI was a perfect choice. Best of both worlds.
The terminators effects were good especially this Grizzled old robot, but moreso the story made Skynet smart through its actions and that made it more of a threat than anything.
At 0:22 I like to think the robot had a internal thought of " *Gasp* Oh my god.....no way. A human....I've been patrolling this same street for 12 years and not once have I ever seen a human. 12 hard years of no sleep, constant vigilance, and endless dedication. Yet here we are...me and a human. God what am I even supposed to do? Shoot at him right? Okay Okay lets do this!"
@Brian Fulsom at least the future of skynet has actual sunlight. Plus, they at least do justice for john connor for being both a leader and a dude who can at least fight.
The only scene I can remember from this film because while the T-600 was stupid as hell, it was genuinely unsettling. The rotted face, the sounds when it moved, even the production image of it wearing the whole rubber mask is nightmare inducing.
This was a quick fit adaptation early model T-600. Initially an infiltration unit it's been adapted and armoured for full combat. They have a rotation of about 3-4 months this one has sustained to much damage not worth recalling or refitting just eyes and ears for skynet probably defaulted to hunter kill mode.
Makalon102 Yes he does. It's creepy how it just stares at him for a little bit first. If that was me and I said hello/hey and that "person" just stared at me I would run away.
There was a rumour that skynet actually skinned the humans they captured alive and covered the older models with the skin so that it would be harder to tell apart from a distance.
I like this scene, honestly. I can imagine how terrifying it would be to walk across a ruined, post-apocalyptic hellscape, and then you finally see another human being off in the distance, so you call out to them, only for the "human" to turn around and, without a word, they open fire with a minigun. Just when you thought you'd finally meet a friendly face in the apocalypse, it turns out to be a human-hating death machine.
The most creepy thing is its face. Remember that T600 models are giant, with rubber skin. The rubber skin would be rotting away through time, and what's left is just a glowing red eye with rotting rubber face.
The idea was that marcus was supposed to attract humans. Flush them out. He however dident know that at the time. And look what happend. The entire plot of the movie.
@@Mgaffo222 hm if we think, I think I must say that is true. Although miniguns were need a tons of ammos, so let's just that the minigun has almost a thousands of bullets
I love the audio design of the Terminators. They grumble and tick around, like sound and stealth was the last intention of these killing machines. It's like listening to a ticking clock
This terminator would’ve worked as the prequel to T1. Where sky net purges humanity and has the major advantage but in one programming humanity discovers is the time travel technology and are willing to sacrifice whatever they can as its final hope for mankind
Richard Reinhart That's very untrue. Miniguns, especially in this modern age, are extremely accurate, having pinpoint precision, and can their ammo can rip through normal building structures (At least the M134 Minigun can, as it uses .308 rounds to destroy it's targets).
One thing I absolutely loved about Salvation was the Terminators making that deep metallic sound whenever they moved. It helped give the impression that they were utterly inhuman and completely evil.
he died because of a counter-intuitive automatic transmission gear shift design, he put the car in neutral by accident, got out of the car, and had it roll backwards downhill and squash him against a wall.
@@Asageun it depends on how dumb they are. Zombies like those in 28DL or WWZ are athletic but still they'll jump off a roof/window/bridge if they see a human below them. I don't know if TLOU zombies would do that
Don't really understand all the hate for this movie. Personally, I liked it. A very real gritty take on the Terminator Franchise. Sure they took some creative liberties that most Terminator fans weren't pleased with but for the most part just the realistic aspect of this movie made it quite enjoyable. Way better visuals and soundtrack compared to anything that has come out since.
@@Tarnthewarrior I would somewhat disagree, there were scenes that let it down and problems with the plot for sure but I think the overall story was a good idea, it made Skynet a clever adversary and took the film in a new direction dropping time travel and setting up a linear story ready to progress through the war in sequals. Unfortunately it didn't click with audiences.
One of the things that stuck out for me was day vs night. In the original Kyle said they had to stay down by day, but could move at night. In this movie the teenage Kyle says they have to get under cover before nightfall.
@@nrkgalt I saw that as a decent retcon because they when the OG terminator was made they probably couldn't have predicted the Terminators would have night vision and thermal optics as advanced as we have today, so moving at night would be an absolute nightmare.
YES.😁 Metal and hydraulics creak and groan as they move. This was an especially nice detail the devs thought of. Makes the terminators even more creepy.
Didn't like the movie much, but I can't help enjoying this one scene with the lone, worn out early terminator model patrolling the streets. The moldy, shredded clothes and the partially dissolved rubber skin gives it a wonderfully creepy zombie-like quality that just sits right with me.
I kinda like that as well. Maybe it got cut off from a small unit of terminators and just kept going with its routine, even though its disguise is so decayed.
The movie was good, until you figured that the guy fell from the aircraft and into the river. That was too much. I would have edited that out and left the audience trying to fiigure our how did he managed to live.
@@alex20776a That's called lazy writing - hmmm, this doesn't make sense - just don't show it then, we won't explain this element of the plot because it's inconvenient to us.
When I heard it would take place during the war itself I was psyched and figured that's the direction they were building towards and this was the pay off after the third movie. Loved this movie back then and still do now.
My friends this is an early model T-600. The targeting software needs upgrading and it's stationary platform operator funtion and terminal cradles tended to buckle if not maintained it could possibly have sustained some damage which would account for the poor targeting this was a real problem for the early t-600 The software like all software needs upgrading throughout its lifespan this is normally done remotely or could be done during a refit or maintenance. This is just a relic though initially designed as an infiltration unit it was quickly adapted as a seek and destroy highly armoured front line combat vehicle. They were deployed in heavy numbers the previous Spring throughout the greater Los Angeles and metropolitan sectors which saw surface activity from the resistance drop to almost nil. You will also notice it's using high impact core 4 splinter rounds these serve 2 purposes 1-wound resistance soldiers in urban areas not kill and 2 to make as much low frequency noise as possible as a kinda early warning system for any patrolling Hunter killers. Most that had not sustained damage were recalled and refitted and placed where most needed primarily in the south. Skynet was just playing the percentages this is a obselete model an outdated design and from its poor mobility I would guess it's operating at about 60=80 full operational capacity left behind to clean up and follow it's basic programming nothing more it was a smash the door in mower downer not a surgical infiltrator. Any further questions I'll be happy to answer.
This movie is actually damn good. It’s a very well made, good looking, Sci-Fi action flick. And a worthy entry to the Terminator franchise. It’s well paced, well written, has great practical action, enhanced just enough with CG to not be overbearing, and has a great cast. The effects have aged incredibly well too, for its age. And I always loved that we finally got to see the T-600’s that Reese talked about in the first film. They are big, lumbering, terrifying Terminators, the design is fantastic. I really loved the Moto-Terminators too, that highway chase was awesome. I’m confident in saying this film has never deserved the hate and criticism it’s gotten over the years. I hope the appreciation for it keeps growing as the years go by. For me, this is where the franchise ends. There are elements of some of the later sequels I like, but overall they have been extremely disappointing. If they ever make another one, we need a back to basics, gritty, practically shot, Terminator vs. man/woman movie. Keep it simple, they have made things way too convoluted and ridiculous.
Optics were probably bad and it is a multi barreled gun firing constantly. If I know anything about automatic weapons is that the longer they fire the impact spread widens. You probably wouldn't be able to kill anything shooting like that from the t600s original position
Genuinely loved this movie, of course it didn’t have the writing and story of the first 2 but the action in this as well as the acting from Bale and things like the origin of the scar and grittier, realistic tone were great in my opinion
When I first watched this movie I felt that this terminator did embody that constant menace and threat they are supposed to, that it’s so damned relentless it will willingly blow off its own foot if required in order to continue its mission to kill.
I liked how this one was in the aftermath of judgement day because I'm getting really bored with the same storyline of them having to protect John Connor or trying to stop judgement day
He's a cyborg, he still has human body parts so he wouldn't need as many metal parts for structure, plus I'd imagine he'd need to be lighter to keep up the guise that he's normal.
Well in the TV show the T888 weighed about the same as a human so they could blend in better. I'm just going to take it that Marcus happened to weigh the same since he was a unique model.
He could be made from lighter materials so that he blends in better than the average Terminator. After all he's designed solely for infiltration as opposed to the T-800 which is built for both infiltration and combat.
Studio Tefałen Yes I agree. It's the 3rd in my rank as well. From best to worst The Terminator (a masterpiece 80s dark action movie) Terminator 2 Judgment Day (So damn good. The best sequel ever made) Terminator Salvation (underrated and love the idea it's war against the machines.) Terminator Dark Fate (yes hate me all you want. But I think it was decent. I didn't love it or hate it) Terminator 3 Rise Of The Machines (aaaah don't care for this one. Not good but not the worst.) Terminator Geniuses (awful by far the worst one in the entire franchise and so damn confusing.)
Claude Speed I think you are suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, Claude. There is no such thing as killer robots from the future. My recommendation for the review board will be that you stay locked up in isolation for another six months.
The reason why I enjoy Salvation is because it finally focuses on the future post-apocalyptic war. The movie distances itself from the whole "send a killer robot and a protector through time" plot that's been done to death. Admittedly, Salvation is far from perfect because of plotholes like why doesn't any robot just shoot Kyle Reese dead the second he gets captured.
Well that’s because terminator 3, genesis, and dark fart where bad. You never realize how good terminator salvation was until you watch the new cash grab terminator films.
I honestly love the apocalyptic struggles like these, rather than humans throwing just a random bazooka out of nowhere at a terminator, you actually have humans setting up traps and hiding instead of going toe to toe with these machines, it gives a feeling of dread and hopelessness.
Right? It really gives the somber feeling that the war has already been lost. "Resistance" is a joke, and the best one can hope for is to hide and struggle not to starve to death in some dark hole, just to piss Skynet off for a while, but is ultimately pointless. There's nothing and no one left.
I'm not usually one to find the Terminator design particularly scary. Cool, sure, but not frightening. But this scene, particularly towards the beginning, gave me a proper stomach-lurch of uncanny valley goodness. I specifically remember the shot at 0:38 giving me a brief fight-or-flight impulse the first time I saw it. Marvelous design from Stan Winston Studios.
Terminator Salvation: "i am the worst film ever in all the Terminator history" Then Terminator Genisys: "hold my beer" After Terminator Dark Date: "are you two kidding me?, hold my Connor" (then shots him) T4 and TG: *you win bro* ...
Salvation really wasn't as bad, I really feel it got a lot of things right but it was just lacking something to really push it through. I love the T600 model which also shows a Skynet that is still growing, and I think the environments is awesome and represents that lost future well.
*Notice the T-600 not shooting Marcus until Kyle Reese runs towards him by a corner... That's a fantastic detail in the film that will foreshadow the plot of Marcus!*
I didn’t really notice, the only thing I didn’t understand is why did the terminator shoot at him at all? Surely it would have recognised Marcus was a terminator?
@@lukesanderson5343 it was probably an older generation T600 that didn't have it's targeting systems and other software updated in a while so it wouldn't be able to recognize Marcus as friendly even if he was an Infiltrator prototype. Not to mention, Skynet was already beginning to phase them out by the time the events of this movie happen with the 800 series so while many of the 600s were still active they weren't being as well maintained as they had been before.
I liked how the terminator looks it still had it's remaining ruined military vest on and torn up pants and it looks awesome with the rusted parts and dented parts of it and it just looks amazing how they made the terminators and add some details and stuff it's very good
I liked the last scene where the minigun comes around and shoots in the terminator in the head considering the fact that terminators cannot self terminate!!!
The T-600 was already haywire, it probably just was going erratic and accidentally shot itself as it was powering down. The train carriage is what killed it.
That part is my fav this earlier model is my fav its not the "best" but its just sic and beast rolls so heavy just dumps so much bullets at you scary looking to ! awsome !
I love the AI of the T-600, it's only purpose is to kill, when it gets its foot tied it shoot's it off because it is the easiest way to get out of that situation and then continues to kill lol
This was my main issue with salvation; all the terminators were IDIOTS. The t600 who attacks john Connor in the beginning just throws him away whenever it gets close enough to hurt him, and this t600, a cold calculating machine, misses literally every shot it fires at its target. The whole thing that made skynets army of terminators scary was the fact that they were cold blooded emotionless almost invulnerable killing machines, not stupid robot foot soldiers who get killed by bullets and weights. I understand that the t850 and other later models are designed to be the smart units so they can infiltrate, but these computer death machines are so stupid in this movie.
Jack McMorrow "The t600 who attacks john Connor in the beginning just throws him away whenever it gets close enough to hurt him" Isn't that every terminator robot in every terminator movie ever?
CptCanadawhat about t1000? or tx? if you watched the trilogy these models always killed the targets in seconds,I mean without toying with them like t800.
***** yea,at tx vs t850 or t1000 vs t800 battles they just threw and smashed each other, because both t1000 and tx knew that stabbing or slashing wont help against t800/t850,but when both t1000 and tx terminated avarage human they did it in sec. What I want to say the script of "t800's terminating moments" at the first and the 4th film was just stupid as fuck, for example:in t800's bios,it says one arm of a t800 can benchpress 200 tons and it can rip off human's head from body in 2s,but in 90% situation t800 just was playing basketball with victim XD.
Ehh. I think Skynet at the time was operating under a mindset of: Give a terminator basic programming + bulky frame + weapon that fires a lot of rounds at a fast rate = at least some dead humans Quantity over quality. It was still trying to get the infiltrator idea correct.
I always loved the futuristic clunky sounds of the antiquated T-600 model in this movie. Although T-Salvation was not the best terminator movie ever produced, the terminators were at least alive in their movements. So well done. Terminator Genisys was just a total eyesore & disappointment!
I love the Salvation theme really, a movie solely based on the war between cyborg and man, I think in some ways this one could be done better with a sequel after learning the first round. Many argue trivial opinions but this was I think the next thing in the franchise to do is direct it in some other avenue inside the whole plot, otherwise we can expect another Terminator movie within five years or less :p
+Brayn Romano The entire fucking series should have been pointed in Salvation's direction. Have you read the Terminator Salvation comics? It concluded the entire Terminator franchise into one beautiful conclusion. Instead, we get a carbon copy reboot with all the shit again.
ShyGuy Peach yeah, separate movies should be made with one series of films focusing on salvation storyline, and the other series should be the continuation of terminator genisys timeline where John Connor was corrupted. And give Arnold a farewell in the new movie like han solo in force awakens, and continue the story with new characters.
I've always wondered how the hell did Kyle and little mute girl (I forget her name now) lift all those train parts. Sure, there are cranes, but there are pipes INSIDE the containers. It must have taken at the very least weeks of crane work to do it without every Terminator in the city noticing.
