I've been in a manual wheelchair for 17 years with a broken back and miss stuff like the beach, fishing, hunting, and so much more that I could get out of life if I were able to afford something like this. It brings tears to my eyes and my heart bleeds for the ones who can afford it. God bless you and hope you enjoy this to no limit.
My heart bleeds when I see this, because this I can never pay. Confined in a mobility scooter, who just flat roads can handle, rather toys. Man, you are such an advantage if you have enough money
I wanted to strongly recommend that you continue designing and building TerrainHopper, but when you need to test them, hire me, I have 37 years of experience in use a power weelchair. Seriously, for your own safety.
THIS IS AMAZING WATCH 4:11-4:15, which other electric mobility wheelchair, scooter in the world can do what this machine did? Post the link if there is one.
I don't know how the drive train works on this. But there should be a way to lock the differential together so if one wheel is slipping, all of the wheels can lock together to get you out of a problem spot.
This could easily take you beyond your limit, tip over in water and drown, high center and stuck without your cameraman. If you have a friend with you this would be a great adventure vehicle.
You need to put some real adventure music with this!! Some get up and get out there stuff...this music is way to laid bacvk! I so want a Terrain Hopper....so so badly!!
Centre of gravity is too high, and it looks a little uncontrollable regarding braking and acceleration. It's not a vehicle I'd feel happy taking out on my own, for that kind of terrain a tracked wheelchair is much safer!
Hi John, with all due respect, your conclusions about the TerrainHopper v a tracked chair are wrong. You actually have a lower centre of gravity with a TerrainHopper because you are sat in the centre of it, whereas with a tracked chair, you're sat on top of it. In addition, the TerrainHopper's individual suspension enables you to go over extremely difficult terrain at low speed, therefore with great control. Why not test drive one and experience it for yourself. Debbie
@@TerrainHopper Thanks for the reply. Sorry but from the video footage it's pretty obvious that's not the case, the vehicle can clearly be seen to nearly turn over while trying to transverse a slope. Also I notice there's a problem with how drive is applied between front and rear axles, again it's clear from the footage that the front axles have some bias and there's no synchronization with the rear axles meaning that often the front wheels are spinning and loosing grip which is not something you want to happen, especially if you're turning on an incline as it's possible for you to loose control. I've spent a lifetime driving off road vehicles in a professional capacity so please understand that I'm not making these comments just to rubbish your product, on the contrary I actually like what you're trying to achieve but I think there's lots of room for improvement in order to make the vehicle safer. Also regarding your assumptions that tracked chairs are less stable, this is incorrect, all the weight is concentrated low down - although the seating looks high all the heavy components are placed well below, in most cases it's possible to drive one so that it's on a 45degree slope and it's still in no danger of turning over. Also they have a lot more contact points with the ground so slipping is far less likely which makes them considerably safer on slopes than wheeled vehicles. Another difference is how the suspension works, on some of the track chairs they only suspend the driver's seat whereas many wheeled vehicles suspend the entire body, this means they more liable to a turn over. Of course each vehicle has its place and uses but for the types of terrain you are promoting this vehicle for a tracked vehicle would be far superior. Best regards.
