It's still not imbalanced. Both players have the same options, which creates balance. Or to put it into Starcraft 2 terms, TvT is balanced because both players have the same tactical options. And even if you remove the possibility of making, say, air units, it's still balanced because both players still have the same options.

@@CasualCosta Nope. That doesn't make it balanced. If the game is rock paper, the game is imbalanced. Imbalanced doesn't mean one side has an advantage. In that case, the game is imbalanced towards paper because paper can never lose.

@@CasualCosta oh i don't disagree. in terms of an analogy to starcraft its still balanced. i was pointing out that that dude wasn't saying that rock has to counter in rock-paper-scissors. he's specifically left of scissors

@@tommydashed4205 you're talking about 2 types of balance. in a PvP game, inter-player balance still exists (i.e. one side having an advantage). in fact thats typically the core of balance whining on SC2 forums. people argue that X race has an advantage over Y race. thus creating an imbalance. what you're talking about is balance within a race. which is more about "are all possible options equally viable". so yes...rock paper is balanced between 2 players, because both sides have equal access to the same stuff. however, its not balanced in the sense that there's no point in choosing rock, because paper is superior. what made those comments so confusing is that the guy was mixing both types of balance. he was referring to the internal balance of the zerg race, claiming that there was essentially no reason to build anyhting but the 2 broken units (that he claimed existed). but he was arguing it in the context of ZvZ...which is inherently an inter-player balance discussion. even though both players had the same tools, and therefore couldn't be imbalanced against each other (outside of the players themselves i mean).
