Im not gonna do pure summoner but is 1 enchanted dagger from the blade staff better than 1 spaz and 1 rez from optic staff

Bruh, mine never attacks anything, it just hovers behind me.

it just doesnt attack anything then a lone slime wanders into you screen the next thin you know all the blades fly off for a few seconds then silver and copper start appearing

I think once it acquires a target it'll kill everything before going back to you

Mine only go after things if they are supposed to go after a mini boss and proceed to attack everything that ISNT the fucking sand elemental

Currently post plantera on master mode and I have only used Blade Staff (Spider for queen slime though)

True. The usefulness of the Blade Staff is higher than Sanguine Staff, its attack style is very unique. Says a guy who plays on MM and recently beaten Plantera using Melee. KEKW

blade staff is good for the most part! after 1.4.1 i even think its better then the sanguine because of the changes to whips

Sanguine>> mech bosses. Blade >> everything else.

Sanguine staff is more consistent and has better ai than bladestaff.

Yeah there was no reason for spiders to have this perk and I'm glad it's gone

spiders were already strong enough without it so its probably for the best

The first time I ever beat terraria I was a summoner and I was on 1.3. Summoner isn’t a bad class at all, if you play on console like me you just have to be skilled. Not trying to show off or anything I’m just trying to convince you into being summoner. 😂

Down side about stardust dragon is that he cant be stacked dmg with whips and sentries when his hitting desame enemy youre hitting It makes it kinda annoying. Unlike any other staff like terraprisma they can stack dmg with whips and sentries on par out dps both stardust dragon and stardust cell by a huge amount. Highest dps Terrarprisma,lunar portal staff, klaidouscope,Black harvest, with perfect summon gear could deal 12-15k dps. Stardust cell,lunar portal staff,klaidouscope,black harvest, with perfect summon gear could deal at around 7-9k dps. Stardust dragon,klaidouscope,black harvest, firecracker, with a perfect gear and a helmet of spooky helm. Deals at around 7k at a maximum limit.

That’s why you whip stack, use your main whip for most of the time then switch to another whip for one hit to stack the tag damage + other buffs

@@Ddday14 If you are wearing the full set and strike an enemy you can avoid damage but it has a cooldown of 30 seconds. So it could save you from a hit once in awhile as long as you get a hit in first and it isn't on cooldown.

Tier Lists should be made based on attack power. Just because something is for the early game and later gets replaced doesn't mean it should have a low spot. It's like making a boss difficulty ranking after you beat the game.

My guy Tea exactly did that to the blade staff and sanguine staff, no matter where you are at the game, they still do insanely well. And they do their job so damn well, that as a summoner who's planning on taking on MM, they're arguably the 3rd/4th best summons. Even 2nd/3rd if you don't like the stardust granting enemies invulnerability. You just need ichor flask, just use Sharktooth + stinger necklace (optional) if you use gelatinous pillion for mobility for early hardmode if you're a blade staff user, the summon tag damage from the snapthorn/spinal tap is enough for the blades to delete anything that moves if you have 5/6 of them at least. No need for armor pen acc. that much if you use sanguine. And I agree with Ryan, Flinx and Vamp frog should be higher. And the sleep on blade staff bro. Proper tier would be 2nd or 3rd Sanguine or Blade staff, 1st being Terraprisma. (Stardust dragon 4th because of the invincinility frames, no one but the dragon can attack said enemy but has very high dps even without summon tag, basically bad for multiplayer). Proper tier on pre-hardmode would probably be Finch (Last), Slime (5th) Imp (4th), Hornet (3rd), Flinx (2nd), Vampire Frog (1st) Slime is 5th because it's actually hard to get, hell, one of my playthroughs as a summoner, I finally got one slime staff after beating moon lord thrice. Slime staff also gives invincibility frames quite a lot like the stardust dragon, so having multiple slime is useless because only one or two at the very most gets to lands attacks, making it 5th. Hornet staff has higher accuracy than the imp staff and has the 2nd highest base damage, these two qualities makes it above slime and imp, and is easier to get. Simply put, the cooler imp staff. Imp misses a lot, AI sucks ass, slow fire rate, useless on water, easily gets stuck. All it has is that it has the highest damage among the pre-hardmode summons, that's it. It is trash. The finch staff, I don't really need to explain it. Everyone knows. Flinx has good attack style and AI, decent damage and control. Slime staff but without crazy invincibility frames. Vampire frog is 1st because fast attacks, high damage for pre-hardmode, no miss hits, can keep up with fast enemies like expert queen bee and EoC. AI just a bit bad but still great compared to the rest. All in all, it's arguably the best in pre-hardmode, and can still do it's job at early hardmode with summon tags until you get the spider staff. Optic staff is good for waves, but lack of damage and poor accuracy of mini reti and spaz makes it bad. The other twin or both twins are very susceptible to walls. Spider staff is stepping stone for other hardmode summoner content.

I rocked blade staff without knowing about whip stacking until I watched shyguymask, I feel ashamed as a self-proclaimed pro summoner. Still use it against destroyer, nothing will change my mind.

The best whip stack (for its time in progression) for the blade staff is Durendal snaptorn and spinal tap.

Actually even without it the blade staff is better than the sanguine staff the only bosses that you would want to use the sanguine staff for would be the mech bosses

yeah with a bit of prep the blade staff is significantly better than the sanguine stagf

Truly the best progression for summoner. The leather whip is also worth skipping compared to the Snapthorn. The Sanguine Staff is just so good and easy to get that you can use it from the very start of hardmode until after Golem honestly. Also likely the best option on the Empress of Light, if you'd like to keep your distance.

I'd go Flinx > Frog > Imp > Spider (for Dreadnaughtilus) > Sanguine > Blade > Terraprisma

I also found that flinx and frogs were better than hornet / imp through using whip stacking too. Tried using hornets for skeletron, and it was just way easier using the flinx staff (had no blood moons so no frogs)
