Also known as the theme tune for The Destroyer, Brain of Cthulhu and the Frost Legion, remixed/covered 1-7 August 2016.

So far, so good, where the schedule is concerned! Boss 3 over and done with, not even a month after releasing Boss 2.
Also that's approaching 3,000 views already, and the Underworld theme is now over 20,000. I can only say holy fucking shit, thanks so much to everyone; I never thought this channel would see these kinds of numbers.
Boss 4 (Queen Bee/Ocram) is next up, for September. This might not be something I do every month. The track for December has already been decided, but the two months between are tentative, there may only be one cover in that period. Also March 2017 is definitely NOT happening. Secret projects and all that.

Boss 3 wasn't as straightforward to cover as Boss 2, but still orders of magnitude easier than Underworld. I guess the real thorn in my side here was the part with the crazy organ at 1:01. It's an element that really stood out in the original so it had to be kept in here somehow, but my initial ideas weren't working. The plan was a huge 1-octave pitch bend on a guitar. I put this in, it sounded like shit because I still haven't got very great guitar sounds yet. I should really get my shit together on this soon. Before March.
This one also demanded a bit of a more elaborate arrangement than Boss 2. More in the way of pitch bends, panning changes, volume fades, some ambient effects at the start and ending, and so on.

“Ugh, I hate trying to find this stupid cobalt. It’s so rare, but I need the gear....” Suddenly, dust from the top of the cavern you were in starts to fall, and the ground beneath you vibrates uncontrollably. Normally encountered monsters are now fleeing for their lives, as more chunks of rock and stone tremble. “What the hell?” You reach for your magic mirror, as a chunk of rock almost crushes you. You use it just in time before the whole cavern collapses. “What the hell is going on?” As you look around, the trees begin to fall and smash the ground, and you topple over. Before you could even get to your feet, a hulking beast erupts from the ground, and watches as you try to clamber to your feet to run. The Destroyer has awoken. It digs down just in front of you and disorients you, and multiple floating probes appear, firing lasers in all directions. “Jesus Christ, how am I gonna beat this thing?!” As you start firing your Minishark at the probes and at its massive mechanical body, you hear more rumbling beneath your feet. You miss a split second of reaction time, and feel your body erupt in half. Player was slain by The Destroyer.

I love the actual thought of this music going along with the first image of the brain, its actually really scary and you can imagine it so easily, along with the terrifying land of the crimson, thats what makes this song so well done.

This theme seems very much like it was designed to perfectly match the destroyer (which it probably was, considering they were the only boss to have that theme when they were added) with it's mechanical sound and a bit of a slower pace to go with it being the most sort of a mechanical-worm-tank-thing. I feel like the brain of cthulhu doesn't really fit with this theme though. (Edit: just to avoid any possible confusion, I'm talking about the theme in-game and in general, not this video or remix specifically)

Dale Ton I always thought it sounded kind of “cerebral-ish” because of some of the beats and synth waves near the middle/end and sort of fit the Brain of Cthulhu

destroyer is the easiest after youve beat it once or twice, i mean you can literally make it grind its face into a dao of pow and its dead without ever hitting you, once you get used to the game the three mech bosses become about the same difficulty, in my opinion spazmatism is the worst of the mechanical bunch.

Well, I'm just saying that the song feels mechanical and slow-paced. While I know the BoC moves slowly, it's just mostly to make it easier rather than threatening. The Destroyer's movement and song is ominous because, before 1.3 added bosses on the minimap you'd never know whether he'll pop up right beneath you. This song kind of fits that feeling.

Not all that fond of the guitar samples but everything else is really great, it does a great job making the song more fit for both BoC and TD, while the original felt like too much like it was made exclusively for TD.
