As someone who hasn't the faintest idea how Terraria works, I'm super grateful for the commentary. Even if this isn't a game I plan on playing in the future, it's still interesting to see your strategies and efficient play.

I can’t tell you how happy I was to hear that you’re going to commentary and explain each part of the process. I find it very difficult to figure out why and when some of the speed runners do some of the strategies. they very rarely explain the reasoning. Great video.

Sub 1 hour seems more and more realistic, wow. I've been following Terraria speedruns for quite a few years now, always fun to see new strats and methods found/used. Loved the commentary!

Maybe you’d like to add to the title that it’s full commentary, there aren’t a lot of these runs and it adds a lot!

The commentary is really nice to see! I really enjoy speedruns but as I'm not very good at them yet it can still be hard to follow some times, and hearing commentary and the thought process really helps me follow along better :) plus, it's just really entertaining!

Definitely love the commentary aspect of this. I've played terraria before but I never got all that far, so explaining what you're doing and why is a huge help because this was super entertaining even coming from someone like myself who really only knows like 5% of Terraria, if that. Congrats on the WR!

I really appreciate all the cool strats used for the purposes of speedrunning that I had no idea existed. Definitely going to use some of them in my casual playthroughs. And the amount of skill in gameplay and knowledge of the game, and persistence in the amount of attempts this must have taken is really impressive.

Rng is nasty sometimes- it took me over 7 hours of waiting today to get a sandstorm in order to complete the last two entries in my bestiary, and the juxtaposition of you having a sandstorm that is to your detriment and won't stop is hilarious in a way. Just the kind of rng we can expect from a game like Terraria. And yes I actually completed my bestiary just now. I learned a lot about the mobs in this game I can tell you that

There are so many strategies used in this it is ridiculous and incredible. I love the no wall house.. I never knew you could do that..

Featherfall potion is by far my favorite in the game, and I feel like it's very underrated too. I hated it at first because it made the game feel so different, but it was permanently enabled while I was playing with a mod and I didn't know how to disable it. By the time I finished that playthrough I realized how helpful it was in controlling movement.

what a scuffed run, but still a wr, so congrats. still a lot of potential for sub 1:10 possibly even sub 1h, anyway i'd never watch a speedrun without commentary, you share some invaluable strats and tips. with 1k hours and another 200+ in modded i still learned a lot of new things and i was literally cheering as you found a way to cheese both solar and nebula pilars. and then you broke moon lord, really cool stuff. as im not a big fan of cheesing in my playthroughs, i dont think im gonna be using those, but i'm very excited to start building with the dungeon bricks more often. i hate rearranging npcs and this little tip will make it this much more bearable, thanks!

+6 iron at beginning (-inoptimal scuffed hooking) +guide voodoo doll +destro spawner +fast lenses +quick temple find, (-less jungle loot and few potions) +easy bulb +early gold portal +good wof and plant drops -bad bone farm -no hermes :( -slow souls of night -not many potions (pillars) -infinity sandstorm -bad mech drops (low amount of hallowed bars) all in all, this run got a lot of high highs and a lot of low lows (which means the run can get optimized quite a bit, just hard bc it's a lot of rng... sub-1 eventually?). great run and awesome vid!

I play Terraria in the opposite way. I tend to draw it out and take as much time as possible. This was interesting and I still found a few useful tricks that I can use.

What are the "wings" on the side of the spawn platforms for? I'm mostly referring to the solar pillar one. They're on the outside of the area you're shooting so wouldn't enemies spawn outside and reduce the number of kills you get?

this is insane, terraria speed running has come so far since that fucking 8h 40 something min run a few years. ive played terraria since i was like 6 but im shit at speed running do you have any more in depth guides/more in depth tech videos you could recommend? if so thatd be super helpful ive wanted to get in on this for awhile but never really knew where to start

With the ichor darts it seems like it kinda works like ZEr0s bore from BL2 where you hit the enemy while in its hit box and the dart just keeps duplicating since it’s still hitting the monster

19:50 this is super interesting. I remember in a yrimir video way back (I don't know which one) he said he had a superstition that you got the best loot in the dungeon if you open chests in the order you find them, and I guess there might be something to that.

how do you talk to an npc (nurse) without right clicking and/or when your cursor is away from the npc (nurse)?

Professional audio technician here: "(content loudness -13.7dB)" You can add 12dB of gain to your audio without any issues. :) If you want a standard way to measure your audio loudness in real time (it's free!), you can add "Youlean Loudness Meter 2" to your master as a VSTi instrument in OBS and that'll tell you what is happening regarding loudness. LUFS works so that 1LUFS = 1dB. If your loudness target is for example -14LUFS (that RU-vid uses as a reference) and you're hitting -24LUFS, you can just add 24LUFS-14LUFS=10dB of gain and you'll hit it. Keeping ones loudness range tight and preventing clipping are different issues obviously, needs compression etc. But just make sure you have master limiter (compressor, BEFORE youlean loudness meter on the master bus of OBS) that has big ratio (8:1 or even higher) and threshold somewhere around -4dBFS (0dBFS is digital clipping point, you can't go higher than that in digital audio) that prevents the worst clipping of the peaks and you're already in much better place. Keep at it :)
