It's always amusing seeing a person react to this OST for the first time.

What's amazing is when you get into the deepest pits of the Abyss, the choir of the Void starts, and a boss that could one shot you is slowly swimming past, completely ignoring you.

the thing about the calamity mod music is that they really shine when put in context with the fights - Guardian of the former seas: you're literally fighting the dried-up husk of a giant seas worm sliding along the dunes dodging it - 1NF3S+@+!ON: you're literally fighting a crab covered in parasitic mushrooms throwing spores and snapping at you - Blood Coagulant: you're fighting a flesh... thing that has worms burrowing through it and crawling out to defend their hosts - Hive mind: you fight a giant brain thing throwing corrupt chunks at you teleporting around - Return to slime: you fight 2 giant monstrous slimes controlled by a small fusion of slimes while they attempt to squish you I could go in-depth about how each piece of music supports the boss it plays for but the moment that truly awestruck me is the moment fighting *Providence* she stopped in the middle of my arena and then particles of light started shooting out of her in a circular pattern all the while the music *DROPPED.* I was certain at that moment that the fight was carefully made so that that one attack would be perfectly tied to the music. I've only recently started playing the mod maybe a couple months ago and I still haven't done everything there is to do but the music is by far one of the best I've heard of any *games* (this shit ain't a mod it's an expansion pack) EVER.

fun little fact about the Aquatic Scourge...you can encounter it during pre-hardmode. If you were, saaaaay, fishing in the Sulphurous Sea you could be in for a hilarious surprise. Thing is though its not aggressive at spawn. It'll loop around below you...watching you. So long as you don't intentionally deal damage to it, it'll be there almost as if its curious of you.

Btw Roar of the Jungle Dragon is from the perspective of the dragon. He’s singing to his former master about the futility of trying to stop the player since the player can die over and over and still come back but he only needs to die once and it’s a rap

Recently stumbled across you and Loosky's playthrough and came back to watch this. If you're curious about the bells, they've become kind of a meme in the community. Because of Dokuro's extensive use of them, they've become known as the "Calamity Bells" and are often used to signify the presence of a powerful being. It's more or less the motif of Calamity, and dare I say the leitmotif of Yharim himself. A personal theory is that they signify all that has been touched by the hand of the Jungle Tyrant. As iirc the bells are present even in some peaceful tracks.

Yo, “the silence before the storm” one was on point, you were so right about this one, I on the other hand have a different vision/scene of where he is. The terrarian hero is reflecting his past and thinking when will this war/battle end and will the world be a better place after he defeats the dark lord jungle tyrant yharim and what will be the cost for going on such a cataclysmic journey, especially when you point out that he is resting on a beach and looking in the sky while the sun is setting down.

Infestation has a secret mushroom if you use an Oscilloscope 1:51:01 I get that it sounds like “giant hands boss”, but for me, o feel like it’s some sort of moving castle with 5000 cannons and other dark magic/medieval parts inside it….and what makes it worse is that it JUMPS AROUND

For Siren (now called Anahita) and Leviathan he wrote a third song which plays between the two others as they added an extra phase in the boss. It's called Siren's War Cry and is my favourite of the 3.

the boss from the "cosmic disgust" music has its own addon mod for calamity now, it is called "catalyst mod", it also gives him another music for a second phase and a bunch of new stuff, one of the most beautiful bossfights i ever seen in modded terraria, so if you guys want to fight him in your playthrough you can, also be careful because he can only be fought BEFORE moon lord, after that he will be locked and impossible to summon

Also Antarctic reinforcement is the first theme make for this mod and it still so good.

What I love about the Void track is you can feel that there's no exploring left. You're just falling, and falling, and falling. And something *is* going to eat you. It's only a matter of if you hit the bottom first or not.

I know this is 8 months late, but the instrument during Return to Slime ( 42:40 ) is called a theremin, its probably the coolest instrument, because you play it without touching it.

Might as well hop in here and give my ratings for each (as well as some tidbits of info here and there): The Tale of a Cruel World: 10: Amazing song that I could genuinely listen to for hours, perfectly setting up the atmosphere of the mod Guardian of The Former Seas: 8: Very solid boss fight music, not much to say about it, other than damn that guitar riff is good bumps it up a solid point 1NF3S+@+!0N: easy 10: I mean come on it's fucking crab rave, it uses fucking CASTONETTES to make crab claws like come on, another pretty commonly known fact in the community that I haven't seen mentioned is that a certain part of the song when thrown in an oscilloscope (or maybe some other form of visualizing sound) forms an image of a mushroom Blood Coagulant: 9: Absolutely disgusting and I love it Filthy Mind: 8 Return To Slime: 10: The (potential) power of this god and the strangeness of it are perfectly encapsulated, the song itself feels very bouncy with the chanting in the background, overall love it Antarctic Reinforcement:8.5: I love how bubba mentions that it feels like he's in an ice cave because that's not far off from what the song's going for, Cryogen is a glacial prison for the Archmage The Step Below Hell: 7: my biome ratings'll tend to be a bit lower overall since I just prefer the higher energy boss music but it's still great Left Alone: 9: Would be a 7, but lore bumps it all the way to a 9, it even has the Calamitas leitmotif since she's the one who brought ruin to Azafure (Brimstone Elemental's kingdom) wasteland: 9.5: such a chill song, now THIS is what I call lofi beats to study and relax to Hadopelagic Pressure: 7.5 Void: 7.5 Threats of The Ocean Floor:8 Outcast of The Sulpurous Seas: 9: Really good remix of Dessert Scourge theme I love how while Guardian sounds more arid as you're fighting him in a desert, this remix loses that feeling and becomes refreshed, I quite like the lore of these two fellas, both the same species living in Ilmeris, a former kingdom which was burned down by Calamitas. One worm stayed after the burning scrounging for whatever food it could find, as such it dried up, this is the desert scourge, the other went in search for water and eventually reached the ocean, which was later polluted, this worm adapted to the pollution and became the aquatic scourge Raw Unfiltered Calamity: what could I give it other than 10: need I say more? Silence before the storms: 8.5: the interludes are all amazing, this is definitely the weakest of the 3 but still a beautiful piece Siren's Call:6: Honestly I like the song but it just gets annoying after you hear it for the millionth time, it's good for a while but not something I can listen to for hours, I would prefer proper biome music for that Siren's Warcry (pretty sure that's the name): 8: I don't remember the song that well since it's not in the video, and your attention's kinda divided while fighting, but from what I remember I do like it the best of the trio Forbidden Lullaby: 7 Heaven's Hell-Sent Gift: 7 Cosmic Disgust: 8: great song but I do prefer Interstellar Stomper which this got replaced with Pest of The Cosmos:8 Fly of Beelzebub: uh oh banger alert, that's a 10: someone SCREEEEEEEAM, I love how the background is buzzing since yk bee... nuclear bee Open Frenzy: 9: ok gonna be real don't get why people get so pissed off at this boss (outside GFB), song's good, fight's fine Storms before the catastrophes: 10: I kinda wanna say this is my favorite so far, but it's a bit close between this and crab rave, the song goes after you beat moon lord, the final boss of vanilla Terraria, the beginning keeping the intensity of the fight until it dies down, and then it becomes triumphant because it should be over, that's the final boss, you win, but of course it's Calamity so all the new threats begin to intrude as the triumphant sound dies out and you realize it ain't over yet, including in particular the Yharon leitmotif at the end, and then the distorted sound at the end is great too ahh I love this one. Unholy Ambush: 8.5 Unholy Insurgency:9.5 Feral Amalgamation: 9: the chants in the background I especially love, them being the whaling of the lost souls trapped in the dungeon Servants of The Scourge:9.5: Type V is definitely my favorite of the 3 variants Scourge of The Universe: 10: here we go, the boss and song that really popularized the mod, simply amazing UNIVERSAL COLLAPSE: 11: and here's the first 11, it's not ever yet kid, do I even need to explain myself Murderswarm: 9: bumped up a full point for some of that guitar, rest in piece bumblebirb you will be forever missed, I remember his name in cheatsheet at one point was bumblefuck, that also felt like a worthwhile mention Infernal Catharsis: 9.5 Roar of The Jungle Dragon: 11: I have no words to possibly describe how amazing this is, I love how it's from Yharon's perspective as well, his undying faith in his master, even though he knows he can't beat you he's stepping out in hopes that his death will convince Yharim to be weary of you Catastrophes before the calamity: 10: debated putting this up to 11 as well, just an amazing song overall Stained Brutal Calamity: fuck it 12: the PERFECT song for the final boss (and the entire reason I always fight Exxo Mechs first even if Calamitas would be easier in that playthrough) there are 2 main ways to do a final boss song, it can be intense or majestic, this has the perfect mix of both. I also love the lyrics, taking the perspectives of Calamitas, the player, and an observer (likely Yharim) through grief, lament, and epiphany respectively. I cannot overstate my love for this song The Heaven-Sent Abomination: 8 Treasures Within The Abomination: 8 Interstellar Stomper: 9 Toxic Wisdom: 9 god I love this ost, I can't choose between this and Majora's Mask as my favorite ost ever

Which I mean, honestly all that's missing is the Exo Mechs (placeholder) theme and tiers 1-3 of the Boss Rush, but aside from that nothing really too important. yo, for the song 'cosmic disgust' there is a mod that re-adds the boss called 'catalyst mod' but the boss is now a superboss that's really hard. just wanted to say because it re-adds the theme but idk if its multiplayer compatible. edit: also the tracks become so much better (especially roar of the jungle dragon and catastrophes before the calamity) once you fully understand the lore of yharim (the main villain/upcoming final boss) and yharon.

It's one thing hearing the music by itself, but I feel for some of the background songs you rated lower, your thoughts of it might go higher when you hear it paired with the biome. ESPECIALLY the abyss one, that one will scare the shit out of you. Or it might lower your rating even, a lot of folks don't like the abyss and for good reason too.
