This movie was made in 2004. Its already in the media about abuse of children within a family back then. And yet in 2024 we are still faced with the cases of Ruby Frankie, David & Louise Turpins, Zaikiya Duncan etc. How nobody noticed anything and reported them was mind boggling.
Oh, they did notice but ignored. Felt it wasn't any of their business OR worse, didn't want to get involved. MANY lazy or fearful people like that - too many .

Kirstie Alley perfectly portrays an extreme malignant narcissist-- everything is about herself, insisting on being the center of attention, acts like a humanitarian but supremely abusive, manipulative, no empathy, greedy to the point of criminal acts, etc....Best thing one can do when meeting someone like this is realize who & what they are and steer clear!
Foster parents who are like this and other foster parents who chronically abuse their foster children will be judged one day by God the supreme judge and punishment giver😢especially the ones who profess that they are Christians😢

I lived in a really bad foater home when i was little. Thankfully I made it out but the damage was already done. I thought I'd fight it and beat the stats but at 43 i am running out of hope. I'm still mad. There was no justice or apology. It went to court but we didn't win because the video of me as a very young child, using naked male and female dolls to show what he did, was recorded at the cas office with no police presence. So they were allowed to botch evidence to avoid accountability! WHO HIRED THAT FAMILY? WHO TOOK ME FROM BIOLOGICAL MOTHER (She's first Nation's too), and placed me in THAT home? It's outrageous to me these people live in comfort after what they've done and the beytral goes beyond what i want to comment on. Î

I watched "Family Sins" (the movie's actual title) on it's orginal release back in '04. The family depicted here was the Burt family with the matriarch being Frances Burt. She had 11 children and two "slaves" locked in the basement. It took place in Rhode Island and they are all running free now.
Her real name is Frances Burt. She is out of prison as well as her family. If you dig deep you can find just how much time they served and what they are doing today. Scary.
@@Bogna1 Today she is 83 years old. The family never stopped their evil ways in the info I could find. Neighbors claimed they were horrible people and after the public realized who they were and,how vengeful they were they went incognito. I can find nothing on them today.

I always liked Kirstie Alley and was so sad when she died. This part she played was very unlike most parts she had in movies and she did it well to the point where you hated her. How anyone could be so cruel is beyond me but we know it all does on out there.
If authorities can't pick up on clues of blatant abuse, signs of starvation etc which are so obvious, it's just incredible; and still cases like this occur today!

Every victim identified by the cas cps dhs, is forced to take a mental competency test, especially if they try to take their own lives because they cant take anymore. So that alone leaves them even more vulnerable because nobody will believe a child over a foster parent, worker. Dr, teacher etc
My sister was in foster care..Bad one.. she was beaten and starved so bad. Was horse wiped too. Sexual abused. Other girls there were treated same way. I was shocked to know places existed like this and our officials would let this happen.

Unfortunately this goes on a lot. I work in retail and have seen mothers several times using their children to steal. I have also seen mother and daughter stealing teams working together.

worst child abuse case lv ever seen was gabriel fernandez.. the hard part is it was by his own mother nd her bf.. theres a netflix docu abt his trials and they hav pictures of his poor, sweet little body.. there wasnt a place on him that wasnt beaten, burned, bruised, broken, cut, starved, or abraded.. l will celebrate his bday next febuary 2O.. another is sylvia likens.. poor girl was tortured by a family supposed to take care of them for a few months.. the parents went for work and they think sylvia took the abuse so her sister would be left alone.. the sadistic pathology of some is unbelievable..
I can't even think about what he went through. :( but I do to make sure he knows people care about him and hopefully he knows he was loved by millions of people and his death wasn't not punished. He is still remembered and he will live through us. ❤❤
The real story is compelling … but that horrible woman was paroled and evidently lives freely. Kirstie Alley will be missed forever. She was such a talent.

I red a few comments saying good movie but had no idea what i was about to watch! This is an exstreemly sad movie especially if its true! The 2 things is 1. How terribly sad for all the victims and 2. What could make a person so sick to do such terrible things! I say the mother was abused as a child as well! Its usually the way! When I tead your comment about foster parents...my children were taken from me because of the corrupt system. I lost everything about them growing up all because of my sister in law who was a foster parent. She had twin boys that she fostered and they got beat regularly. She had 5 kids of her own and now she is after mine. I told it all in court and they would not believe me. In the last 10 years sincee they found me do we talk. My son is so brainwashed that he doesn't want anything to do with me. I am 68 years old and it breaks my heart that this "christain" woman raised my kids. This happens to much in our world. I pray someday that I will be able to visit my kids instead of them coming to me. Life is so unfair as I write this crying....My girls are 41 and 42 and they will always be my babies.

Absolutly loved Kristy Alley, from her first days in Cheers until her last days on earth, she was a great actress, comedian and excelled in whatever she wanted to do.
We lived down the road from Kirstie. Her birds were such fun to watch. I'm glad she knew when her family needed her more - also sorry she didn't take care of herself. She sought Jesus, not Scientology.

She showed in this movie just how talented she was. She so struggle with her weight because of health reasons as do most stars of the day without the kind of knowledge we have today. She died way too soon. I am happy they took this crazy family and have them pay their dues - I thought the son should have gotten a much longer sentence. Thanks.
