I fully agree Terry is a better and improved batman. He might not be the worlds best detective but he is resourcefull and creative and consitantly develops. I think he does not fall into the same pitfalls as Bruce and retains humanity. But at the same he still delivers what Batman is suppose to represent.
Terry is my favorite batman but I feel like comparing them always misses the point. Terry learns from Bruce to be batman but it's also learning from Bruce's failures as a person (not a hero) that lets him become the hero he is. And also lets Bruce be a better person. This moment is solidified at the end of Return of the Joker when Bruce tells him he's what makes the mask special not the other way around.
I agree with you. Realistically you can’t compare the two, but in a way it makes sense to compare the parallels and differences for both. Bruce being able to guide Terry to be better than him, but also Terry just being different in his own right brings so many interesting things to breakdown.
Great take. I hadn’t thought about it before, but you’re spot on. Terry isn’t a carbon copy of Bruce. He really is beyond Bruce. Probably not in combat or abilities, but in humanity and emotional stability. That said, OG Batman is still the Goat. TAS for life!
Appreciate that bro, and yeah Terry is actually levels above Bruce overall. The potential he has is like 10x above our OG, but Bruce forever goated always.
I was exposed to BTAS and Batman Beyond through VHS tapes my mom had bought for older siblings, and I always felt more connected to Terry. I only now understand the deep stories of both shows and the characters. Overall, I think Terry is better. Because he had the former Batman to help him. I recently read Neo Year, and it solidified to me that Terry is the best successor, because he can have that which Batman could never accept.
I haven’t read Neo Year, but I’m definitely gonna check it out and see wassup. Terry is really better in every way from a mental aspect. He’s 10x as cool too lol
Terry is what Bruce wanted Batman to be he is the better Batman and I feel like that’s what makes Bruce enjoy terry as Batman he isn’t the darkness anymore he is the beacon of light in the darkness a true hero
Not for long. Matt eventually stuffed trauma caused by a run-in with the Joker. Matt was forced to retire because of it. Also Terry was against the idea of Matt being Robin and was reluctant to let him fight along side him in Gotham City.
Man batman beyond was my childhood I whis movie 3d was made love return of the joker terry beat joker at his own game and that theme song is 🔥 till this day after 25 years batman beyond is still a beloved classic
Same here bro. The aesthetic, the music, action, characters, even seeing Bruce take a backseat was all refreshing. Immediately got my attention when I seen this as a kid.
Terry may be a better hero than Bruce but i wouldn't exactly call him a better batman. As his skills don't surpass Bruce or even match him. He's not as good a detective as Bruce and as for his fighting skills there's still potential.
Probably my two favorite instances of Terry being more heroic than Bruce are: 1. In "Sneak Peek", when Terry tried to save the titular antagonist from falling to his death (or worse). Terry owed Peek nothing, he tried to ruin him and Bruce's lives for clout, and Terry still tried to save him, all the while Bruce was just making jokes and willing to let Peek suffer despite having gone out of his way to save _the Joker_ of all people multiple times. I know Peek killed Bruce's friend but his fate was overkill IMO. 2. In "Babel", when Terry went to fight Shriek while Bruce wanted him to just stay home because the people of Gotham were being a bunch of ungrateful sellout jerks. Terry says it himself that he didn't become Batman for gratitude; he does it because it's the right thing to do.
We are talking about a Bruce Wayne who hasn't been Batman for over 20 years at that point. His worldview is gonna be skewered at this point. Yes, Bruce Wayne is/was Batman but remember, he is only human. Him as Old Bruce shows that.

I have no problem with Terry being a better version of Batman than Bruce. Even the person who posted the video understands this well. You just come off as "Terry did this one thing and Bruce didn't so that makes Terry the better Batman." The fact that you made a comment like that leads me to believe that you have no idea of the point that the person who posted the video is trying to get across.
Bruce Wayne will always be the one true Batman but Terry is a worthy successor. I prefer Terry to take up the mantle of Batman over the Robin's. I know Dick Grayson is the one true heir to the mantle but I like him better as Nightwing.
Bruce is still the best Batman. He's way better than Terry. Also, Dick and Tim are way more worthy successors of being the next Batman in other comics.
