After watching some Terry norris fights lately I had forgotten what a great fighter he was, always trying to ko his opponent from the first minute to the last
This was such a disappointing fight, especially given the buildup. Paul Vaden absolutely did nothing and pretty much was in survival mode after a few rounds. It's no wonder his career went into obscurity after this fight.
One of my best friends, Jerry Burns, fought Vaden when he was the amateur US champ (Jerry was Canadian champ). We had a great team, including Shawn O'Sullivan and Lennox Lewis. Vaden stopped Jerry in the third round (corner threw in the towel). The only time Jerry was ever stopped. The Vaden that fought Norris wasn't the same guy we saw that night. He did nothing against Norris...very disappointing. He was better than that. Norris somehow got in his head.
This is the most under control Terry you could see. But his flaws were still evident. He squares up and centers himself instead of keeping his left shoulder at an angle. He leans ahead of his left foot on the inside. He thinks he is a bigger puncher than he actually is.
@marvindiggla THANK YOU SIR, for posting this highly significant fight; arguably the beginning of 90s/00s junior middle title lineage through to the Wright/Mosley bouts. Any chance you have the Keith Mullings fight also?
Bob Sheridan is the stupidest most oblivious play by play announcer in the history of boxing!!! He's as far as you can get from Don Dunphy who was the best!!!
