Your dad and I are about the same age. I discovered Terry Reid when I was16, at my cousin's house. He and his friends were hanging in the garage and playing the "Bang, Bang" album. Reid is one of the most under-rated musicians of my generation -- not only as a singer, but as a songwriter and all around musical "magnifico".
I've been jamming Terry since the Wonderland soundtrack from 2003. Terry is actually a hidden gem so consider yourself blessed if you love this song cause it's a blessing in itself. ♥️
That's where I heard about Terry too. That scene where he pulls up to the house and walks through the party with this song playing is so cool. Reminds me of a place I've never been
Me too! Wonderland and all of rob zombies movies have the best soundtracks 🤍 as a kid I listened to all this because my dad but this song was brought back by wonderland too… 😁
THANK YOU ROB ZOMBIE!!! if I hadn't seen "devils rejects" I would've never heard this amazing artist. Terry Reid is now my favorite singer/songwriter of ALL TIME (and I've been around awhile). wtf is wrong with American radio stations?! I can't believe all the years I was robbed of this phenomenal music!!!
Nah dude. Its in the actual film. On the soundtrack tracklist. Great song anyways! ... "the devil is singing our song" by the james gang is awesome to! My favourite
Shout out to those of you who happened upon this hidden gem by chance, whether that was 5 mins ago or 40 years ago. The point is that you made it here, and that in itself is as special as the piece of music.
You could not be more correct …. I first came upon this song watching Wonderland , and I was blown away and still am every single time I play it. It is absolutely incredible , it has everything. Such a beautiful song all around
The reason not many people have heard of Terry Reid is not his misfortune. He’s had countless opportunities to be a mega star over the years. He’s always known what he’s wants in life and that is, no doubt, to be a free spirit.
First heard this song from the "Wonderland" movie so when he walked in to that party in the summer of love and this song was playing I was like damn I wish I could have went to a party like that!! 😂😊❤❤
This gem has been one of my go-to summer albums since I first heard it in the '70s. It's a record that never gets old. That laid back mellow sound transcends all times and places.
When Butterfly and the biker guy enter the party and everyone is dancing and doing drugs, it always reminds me of how I felt when I was young. This song is amazing.
Terry Reid one of the best voices of early rock ....super lungs ,seed of memory and dream and baby I love you without expression great songs . To bad he's only famous for Turing down led Zeppelin and deep purple for a solo act that never took off ...but this is a great classic rock tune with a country feel to it ... Awesome drinking tune ...his music was underrated back in the day ... But music was a lot better back then...
If you ever get the chance to see him live, go for it! And if it’s at a small venue don’t be scared to go up to him. Terry is one kind son of a gun, he bought me a Budweiser and gave me a tour of where I went to see him!
sonnyblack71 every time I hear it till this day, especially in the mornings. Takes me back to that scene. It's as if it's a small vacation of its own. These songs have so much talent and energy to not feel nostalgic and think back on good days/wonderland scene.
ars62287 i've seen some docs out there that say he went into gay porn when times were tough and that's more than likely when/where he contracted it. he was a coke addict. i know he hung around heroin junkies/needle users but i'm pretty sure he wasn't into that...just snortin'/smokin' coke.
thank God wonderland I loved this song when I first heard it it's a shame it took this long for him to finely get the recognition that he deserves he should be in the hall of fame ✌🤘❤
Terry Reid is the one who suggested Robert Plant and John Bonham to Jimmy Page! Without Terry Reid, there may not have been a Led Zeppelin as we know it today.
This is honestly one of the greatest songs of all time, perfect synthesis of rock and country, beautiful lyrical sentiment, thank god he never ended up in led zeppelin otherwise we wouldn’t have this!!!
@@BrutalStench Thats pretty much what im saying, im a music nerd so i know my history, terry is a legend. I do believe this album and the river ep are his finest moments and in all honesty i think i prefer those two releases alone compared to the entire zeppelin discography, a total class act!!!
Thanks to RU-vid for being the only place that has this song. All other Streaming services, only feature the live version. Which is a good idea, if it means more $ for the musician but you can’t deny that usually and especially in this case, the studio version is better. It’s a shame they don’t get residuals from all versions (studio, live, re-recorded).
The lp was among my favorite records of the 70's.. Great voice, and to think he was Jimmy Page's first choice to be lead vocalist of seminal Led Zeppelin but Terry passed and never regretted his decision.. I cannot envision how Zep would have fared...
Lyrics Can you hear what I've been thinkin'? Do you hear my words out loud? 'Cause there's an echo that's insistent, why doesn't the phone ring out now? But when it does it rings, no question, but when it don't I wonder why, Baby got somewhere you can reach me on this dark and lonely night. Oooohhhh, what a faith to arise... yeah Feel that look in your eyes You know I'll be thinkin' we'll be bringin' that time and place in your mind, and you need a lesson to hang on too, feel what it is that's alive And you know that it's only one more day, that I'm gonna be this far away, and now I'm sitting here on this phone, I've run out of things to say... Except it's gonna feel good to get back home, how it's gonna feel good to just get back home I've been out here stretchin' on my own, Whoa, it's gonna feel good to just get back home I take a plane out in the morning puts me in tomorrow night I got something I want to say to you on the hours that I lose in this flight There's a beauty about London, though the rain's still pouring down, it only makes me thinking of breakin', so the night wakes, and breaks and shakes the ground. And oohhhh... what a faith to arise, yeah see that look in your eyes You know you'll be thinkin', you'll be singin' 'bout that time and place in your mind, the sun and you let them grow on to be what it is that's alive You know that time, she's a passer of everyday Know what it is... no one you can save Just write your name in the sky, with the curve of the earth of night. Baby it's the end of the turn, I can see the reflection in your eyes, just how it's gonna feel good to get back home Oooh it's gonna feel good just to get back home I been out here stretchin' on my own And now it's gonna feel good just to get back home
Wow...and to think I just discovered Terry yesterday completely by accident. This song is amazing...what a great voice! And Graham Nash on backing harmonies!
My uncle put me on to Terry Reid when I was in Jr. High always loved classic rock, punk, metal, new wave, and hip hop, this song was definitely a big part of my school days
Can't understand why Apple won't allow streaming of this huge classic from the golden era of the world's greatest age of music but clearly there are reasons. Yeah yeah he COULD'VE BEEN with Zeppelin, I've also read DP as well but it never happened and history is history but thanks to the channels making this excellent tune available to us all!
I’m discovering all his songs only now. I first saw him recently on the “old grey whistle test recordings”. You can see he is the real deal. What a rock star should be. If he made 10 albums or so , we are fortunate enough to have him !
+Toby Kernan lkr I play his music every night when I go to bed. it's ten to midnight I've got the the lyrics of " faith to arise" in my head. I just can't get enough of his music!
Guys like Terry Reid, Dave Van Ronk and even Sixto Rodriguez, got buried underneath the landslide that was Bob Dylan. Though Dylan appeared on the scene some years earlier, the mark he left in the business was so significant that it either paved the way for future artists, or it pushed them aside as "copycats," or as just being part of a long-line of musicians who were producing a "tired" sound. Dave Van Ronk was actually the inspiration for the film "Inside Llewyn Davis" which chronicles this issue exactly. Dave Van Ronk's album; "Folksinger" which also contains the song, "Hang me, Oh Hang Me" is one of the greatest music albums ever made and it never received the praise and attention it so rightfully deserved. And if anyone knows the story of Rodriguez (Searching For Sugar Man) and how was he buried not only by a flooded market, but by the industry as well. Well, if nothing else, the internet is great for keeping this timeless and beautiful music alive!
I can't lie, coming from a hip hop listener this song definitely got a good beat, good rhythm and the singing definitely matches this song and yes I was watching 3 From Hell end credits, song caught my attention
I just watched Wonderland for the first time on Cinnamax, Wow!! That was a fuckin awesome movie!, Whadda cool party with cool friends chillin and gettin drunk N high!, Awsome song, awsome time!,
I agree, seen wonderland for first time 4 yrs ago, immediately found this song and downloaded it. It's awesome. Love, love love it!!!!!!! Anyone know of any similar songs ?????
I unfortunately found this song after my Dad passed would have loved to pound a couple beers with him and Jam out to this whole album, hopefully I can listen to this on my way into the afterlife, see you someday Pops gonna have a blast when we meet again.
Wonderland and 3 from hell used this song beautifully it doesn't just have to do with time period of the movie it also has to do with when they play it in movie and in both movies they nailed it
Terry Reid is a one-of-a-kind musicians coming past which is hard to find these days which you can't copy and when you try it doesn't do well but people will do and they don't do it well unfortunately he will always be one of my my favorites🎵😆❤
My boyfriend bought me this album on vinyl for our 2nd anniversary in march. It’s my most prized possession, he’s the one who turned me onto his music.
this is amazing. i remember listening to his first american release with mayfly and speak now among others, but didn't know about this release. discovering something this outstanding nearly 40 years later is like finding a long lost friend. thankfully Mr. Reid is still alive and well with many killer live performances of recent vintage on yt. it makes growing old seem not so bad.
I was introduced to such wonderful song in 2008 when I bought a DVD disc titled as Wonderland, starred by Val Kilmer, in Downtown of Manaus,Amazon,Brazil,(yes, there´s a town amid the jungle),and I got fascinated.Good music can resist the time.
This is a great album . Great songs , Great musicians and one of the all time great vocalists in Rock along with another underrated singer Jess Roden .
I saw Devil's Rejects and saw his name in the credits. My aunt heard and ordered me this album online. I would not what I would have been if not for that.
