Excellent point. I was astounded when I did the math and realized how young he was. In an interview he said he was 16 when he toured the UK with the Rolling Stones in 1966. This means he was 18 when he toured with Cream in 1968, and 19 in 1969 when he toured the US with the Rolling Stones. Teen prodigy.

I saw Terry Reid for the very first time open for Cream at Madison Square Garden in 1968. I was so impressed & told all of my friends about him. He was truly great! My best friend who was a lead singer & guitarist for his band fell in love with his music & started performing some of his songs. I still play “Without Expression” all of the time.🎸🎤👍🏻

I got to know the drummer, Keith Webb, when he still lived in Stafford in the UK where I currently live where we chatted, drank, smoked and played records he featured on through the night, Flamboyant here whilst in person he was modest and extremely enthusiastic about his time as part of Terry Reid's band. Sadly Keith passed on in 2007 in sunny Spain and I saw his last gig in the UK before he left at a little known pub known as The Crown in Aston near Stone where I lived at the time. Keith used to play drums for open microphone sessions on a Sunday in a pub in Stafford, The Nag's Head, way back in the eighties that was run by his family. Keith's drumming background was jazz so he was more than qualified to do a lot more than you see and hear here and it's worth checking out what he did with his band, Paladin with Peter Solley who is featured here on Hammond.

What! How amazing! Thank you for sharing your experiences with the great Keith Webb. In the few pieces I've listened to him on, he is rock steady all the way. I'm happy to hear that he spoke well of playing with Terry and company. I have vague memories of him onstage in 1969 when they opened for the Rolling Stones in Boston. I did wonder what broke the band apart, as the four of them put out a great sound. If you scroll down on this page, Keith's brother Julian Webb has commented here, with a bit of a conversation that followed about Keith's jazz career.

@@dianestrauss9699 Thanks for that and here's a nice juicy bit of trivia I got from Keith himself. As I was looking through his record collection I noticed he had The Fast lady film theme tune amongst his collection on 45 which was a Norrie Paramor composition and featured his orchestra on so I asked Keith about it and he told me there and then that this was the very first recording that Keith was featured on. Look up the film The Fast lady that starred Stanley Baxter and Julie Christie, amongst others.

Sound familiar?? Led zeppelin... song stealers. Crosby stills nash... image and song stealers... Wanna hear the original stairway to heaven riff? Listen to seed of memory. Whose vocals match Robert plant and Janis Joplin? Terry Reid. So . When you hear Robert plant and Jimmy page fo their classic vocal lead duel off, dont you ever wonder why they really never put together a dual off where robert mimics every note subsequently?(its always chopped up and incomplete sounding) Listen to terry reid in this song, you'll see how its done.

The man who wrote this song would be turning over in his grave if he heard this version of the song because of how Terry Reid butchered the lyrics, how do I know this you ask, the man who wrote this song was my father and he was very proud of the lyrics, and Terry stylized the song so much that you don't even understand the words. my favorite versions of this song are by Ray Charles ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5DikM7Rmzak.html and Edgar Winter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NDtRdojr_Fs.html

I can't argue with you, you know best how your father would feel. Thank you for your comments and insight. And thanks to your father for this marvelous song. Ray Charles' version is spectacular, no doubt about it. This is one of the songs I heard when I first saw Terry in 1969. I loved his bluesy voice, so even though you don't think much of this version, Terry's interpretation of the song holds a special place in my heart.
