Teruhisa Fukuda ofrece seis piezas (honkyoku) del viejo repertorio que el monje Kinko Kurosawa recogiera. Seis piezas que encierran la enjundia de un modo de estar aquí y ahora, eximidos de toda desazón. Los honkyoku nacieron mucho antes de que el shakuhachi fuera un instrumento de música (gakki), surgieron cuando eran un auténtico medio de crecimiento interior (houki) que concebía el soplo como eje vital. De ahí que su expresión fuese puro flujo, creciente mareal, como aquí es. Mientras fluya, alimenta la savia, permite latir al corazón, aviva el juicio, nos acrece. Gracias a él, surcamos más allá del cristal. Ligero el ánimo, libre de toda suerte. Ahí radica su verdad. Al modo de aquel haiku de Matsuo Bashõ: «Luna llena./ En torno al estanque/ paseo la noche entera».

I caught that CD at my local library. My channel is dedicated to ancient Japan, so I thought it would be great to have the music of the komuso monks on it. It is indeed reaaaaaally great, especially when you know all the lore around the komuso ordrer and the importance of the shakuhachi for them.

Yes it is. I have built three shakuhachi using a real Japanese flute as a model. I collected the bamboo from plants around LA. (I had built about a hundred didgeridoos, half from bamboo). Each instrument required a couple hundred hours of very concentrated and skilled devotion. Here is the funny bit - I'm not a very good player. I get by. Be well.

the ancients come here to visit and learn what we do here on this planet. i want them to see it in it's entirety but wield no weapons if all possible... we have grown but many don't know the power they have !
