THIS Car Pod has become my favourite Podcast i look forward to every Week! Whoever came up with that Idea from Cars & Bids deserves a Raise. Unless it's Doug, if it's Doug, then give the Raise to Kennan and Filippo! Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Small thing, kenan wondering what the most expensive BMw part ever was interesting, kind of got overlooked. Would be a really cool video to research all the most expensive parts form different automakers :)
The cars and bids app is only on iOS? Really guys? Android is 47% of America's market share, and many of us would appreciate the app being available on Android as well. Please fix this and get it on android...
💯 Everybody has Google Pixels or Samsung Galaxy Android phones so they should target those technical minimum requirements (OS version, GB, RAM, CPU, etc) when developing their app.
Are you aware of the percentage of people in the United States that have iPhones? Are you aware of the percentage of Android users that have the income spare to buy weird cars? This makes sense lol. Be glad if you ever get an Android app, Android apps are usually not profitable for services like this.
As a German I just want to point out that i love Kennan doing Impressions! I absolutely love his German Impression which is actually really on Point! But his Trump, Biden etc. Impressions are also phenomenal! Hope they will be Part of each Podcast! Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Kennan doesn't really have a leg to stand on when giving Fillipo a hard time about buying a corvette when he keeps saying he wants a viper and numerous vipers of the generation he wants have been on cars and bids and he hasn't bought one.
51:35 - There was is a junkyard channel in Illinois that recently posted a video of a fraudulently imported C63 AMG wagon. Whether or not the owner knew, the import company represented it as a C 240. Owner got it registered and went on his way. Went to get it emissions tested the next year, failed, and the news made its way to the EPA. Guy was told to junk it or export it, and he chose to junk it. That title is only "good" until the authorities figure out it's not. Not like the Feds will be like "Ahhh! You got us!"
Filipo is a little too scared to spend money he can clearly spend and has that is just collecting dust. Just annoying and frustrating to hear on repeat at this point
14:56 It wasn’t during testing. Mark Reuss lost the C7 ZR1 pace car and went into the wall during the warmup of the 2018 Detroit Grand Prix in IndyCar.
I have a 2014 C7 Z51 with the 7 speed and its a great car. Filippo is correct in that its a great price for what you get and so far in my ownership the bills have been very manageable as it mostly uses generic GM parts. In my experience the car really doesn't have the boomer image as much as its predecessors. My C7 has been more popular with people in their 30-40s than old guys mainly due to its more european exotic styling. Filippo should totally buy one.
Thank you, Doug, for your videos. Your sober and straightforward approach to reviewing cars creates a calming atmosphere that has been a great solace during stressful times. I appreciate how you focus on the abstractness of each vehicle, emphasizing their practicality and providing a grounding perspective.
The stupidest thing about Tesla’s vaporware fraud is that they pretended that people could buy the robotaxi for personal use. How would I get it to follow the rules of my child’s school pickup line? Or how would I pull it into a service bay to change tires? It doesn’t have a steering wheel. It’s so stupid. And insane that anyone falls for such an obvious stock pumping scam. Again and again.
It feels like 2015 again with the iOS app only at launch then android later. Sucked then sucks now. Edit: I understand it can be simpler to develop for IOS with far fewer devices and all that compared to 200 different android phones. Love the show!
I'm blown away there's no Android app either. They should just worry about creating an app that will support the major phones in the Android ecosystem, i.e. Google Pixels and Samsung Galaxy's.
@@oxii99 On November 2, 2021, Ruggs rear-ended another car at high speed in Spring Valley, outside of Las Vegas. Twenty-three year old Tina Tintor and her dog Max were burned to death in the fatal collision, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and county prosecutors.[37] Ruggs was charged with driving under the influence resulting in death and reckless driving. Police produced digital evidence shortly thereafter showing that, at approximately 3:39 a.m., driving 156 miles per hour (251 km/h), Ruggs attempted to panic-stop the Corvette as he approached the Toyota RAV4 driven by Tintor, but lost control, slamming into her at 127 miles per hour (204 km/h).[1][41][42] The Clark County Coroner determined that Tintor and her dog burned to death as her vehicle was engulfed in flames following the collision.
@@oxii99 Henry James Ruggs III (born January 24, 1999) is an American former professional football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he was a member of the team that won the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship. Ruggs was selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft.
While I am pretty skeptical of how soon the Tesla RoboTaxi will actually ship, seating 2 is sensible. Apparently over 90% of taxi trips are one or two passengers; whoever operates these things will dispatch a different car for the
@@bk_nreynolds3278 I agree, but he's being very dismissive considering EV's and self driving technology will change the automotive industry faster than most people think. For the better.
The promise of operating a fleet will never come to fruition. So if its your only car, it should have more than 2 seats. On the slim chance this actually gets made and the slimmer chance its road legal, only large companies and tesla itself will operate these at scale.
I love the car pod & I wish it had its own dedicated channel like autofocus is with MKBHD, but they need to do something about the sound. Because of where they're sitting there's one hell of an echo when they're talking. It's distracting
There is a $30,000 Ish model 3. It’s called the Long range rear wheel drive. MSRP is $42,490, but if you qualify for the federal tax credit at point of sale, it’s $34,990, and what’s the percentage of having more than two people in a Lyft or an Uber? One! That’s why the cyber cab only has two seats, and they’re trying to keep cost down. The Robo van is mainly intended for public and commercial use. That’s why it has 14 to 20 seats! It’s meant for picking people up at the airport, weddings, and parties.
same with Jaguar XJ220 speed test, they ran it stock around Nardo before removing the catalytic converters getting a bit more HP before the "official speed record" But I mean that's what you do in a speed test. Nothing like "oh this is the production car" and it's actually a completely modified build just made for a top speed run, or even worse you don't even have proof the car can be driven (SSC ULTIMATE AERO I HATE YOU)
316 COMPACT MENTIONED‼️ I actually happen to have an e36 316 compact, imported from Europe with the cali top (functional), red millpoint interior & 5 speed manual. Next time you're in the Philadelphia area, you should come check it out!
I worked for GM back when the C7 was released. I got to drive one for a week as part of the employee ambassador program. I would've never bought a Corvette prior to driving that C7 for a week. I had people walking up to me in the parking lot telling me it was such a cool car. I got to tell them it was a work vehicle and watch their face. "Wow, where do you work?"..."GM corporate". A picture circulated around the office showing a parking lot in Michigan full of press cars...waiting to be crushed. Yeah, crushed and there were like 50 of them in the lot. They crush them because they didn't have VINs and couldn't be registered.
Poor kids. Dad driving a Carrera GT, and they driving an old Volvo. I'm with Kennan! The GR Corolla is probably the most responsible and fun car you can give any kid.
@@williamconrad1087 AWD is a great safety feature. The GR Yaris might be a good option, but it’s not available everywhere and it only has two doors, so it’s not that practical. I don’t think any of them have too much power. Any crappy car is enough for kids to kill themselves and others, unless you limit the car to 20 mph. And even then they can still kill someone. Some parents kill their kids by pulling the car out of the driveway and running them over because they didn’t see them. I’m not a parent, but I would focus on safety and reliability. Fun is the icing on the cake. If a kid loves to drive, they’ll drive fast anyway, no matter what car they have. If the car is actually good, it’s safer than going fast in some piece of junk.
Volkswagen sent me a metal key chain in the shape of a matching wheel to my car, with the build date and vin on it for my 40th anniversary gti. Super cool
I propose a drinking game knocking back a couple of cold ones when they say they can install automotive parts on the weekend "while knocking back a couple of cold ones"
Don’t know if there are time constraints on the pod only being an hour long but some of these topics feel rushed to get through. Maybe having an off cam producer (like JRE has Jamie) to pull up topics and google references in the back ground like Kennan’s comment about the most expensive individual BMW part would be a nice addition. It would free up all 3 hosts to continue engaging in the conversation while things get searched in the background. Just a thought… then again I’m not a podcaster so idk how complex that could become or how it would alter the format.
As an owner of a 2015 Volvo v60, it would make a great first car. Honestly, for the price they're selling I think you'd be hard pressed to find another car as practical and nice as one of these.
Regarding the Corvette C8 ZR1, when they tested it in Germany it was a huge News Story here in the Car Community simply because they tested it in Germany. So kind of an Advertising Angle there, which obviously works, since Germans LOVE Corvettes. Sadly GM doesn't sell them at Dealers here officially, so if you want an EU-Spec Corvette, it still comes with a hefty Bonus on the Price Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
@@anton_grahn The roadster, model S, X, and 3 were all concepts from the very beginning. Elon’s ideas were the semi and cyber truck and I imagine that taxi thing that just came out.
Are you sure the Lamborghini Countach is faster than the Plymouth Superbird and the Dodge Daytona? On a banked track, the stock Superbird regularly got to slightly above 200mph, while the Daytona managed 3 to 8 mph higher, so apparently at least 203 mph. One of the reasons the top speeds varied was because the wing is adjustable and was needed to keep the rear tires planted on the oval track at 200+ mph. I wonder what the Daytona would have been able to hit on a long straightaway with the wing adjusted for maximum top speed? I've read a few different top speeds for the Lamborghini Countach, all between 183 mph and 195.2 mph. These speeds were also hit on a long straightaway, not a slower oval race track.
