Selling one car is a 3k profit. Putting a robotaxi on the street is a 30k+ profit maker. If robotaxi is possible, demand doesn't matter, as Tesla won't need to sell any normal cars for years..

After the August 8 robotaxi event the media and most analysts will still have serious doubts that Tesla can deliver FSD & robotaxis in the timeline Elon predicts, as well as the success/desirability of robotaxis .
Of course, what 's the event likely to produce? Likely to just be a rolling prototype of the design, hardly likely to be anywhere near complete or functional. Seems to me the announcement of the event was simply to encourage a 'yes' vote for EM's huge package. And yeah, is there a desire for them anyway?
A video for the shareholders vote had a 2 second clip of a bumper which is currently not on any Tesla sold. The prototype is definitely ready. Just like Roadster. Prototype is meaningless.

Product unveil isn't the big news, everyone knows that's coming. I want a first robotaxi fare date. If he gives that date on Aug 8th, and that date is fairly soon, the stock is gonna run and continue to run as more robotaxis roll out. That will be the next big leg up.
There would be a huge positive for an unveil of a 25k car for the masses. How different is unveiling the visuals for a hypothetical robotaxi from what we have already been hearing about for years. There needs to be an actual release of no-intervention drive capability and THEN months, and in most jurisdictions years of safety validation. This ain't happening overnight.
CT was a special product and needed a lot of engineering. There were a lot of hiccups along the way as well. The next products will start coming out late 2025 or early 2026.
It's taken 5 years for FSD to really roll out. Not sure if they're really robotaxi ready, but FSD 12 at least shows the light at the end of the autonomy tunnel.
You're confusing a new technological product with FSD applied to existing car platforms Tesla already produces. The 'Cybercab' will be based eventually on the next platform, but the roll-out will be on Model 3/Y platform without any steering wheel or pedals to introduce the Robotaxi program.

March24 statement showed they had a 13% of fund in Tesla. Now if they didn't (paraphrasing a Finnish Ferrari driver) do something stupid then that could be up to 17%. My prediction. You'll see off lease model 3's deployed as cyber cabs in very limited trials. By the time they have proven the tech, we'll see "new" configured model 3s, before we see the new concept vehicle in production.
The way I see it. FSD becomes a real product that people actually buy in mass in the next six months. Then a Robo taxi network of customer cars will begin to form before the cyber cab even comes on to the scene
