1. Put Car in Park, Turn on Car Wash Mode. 2. Drive up to the car wash conveyer 3. Once on the conveyer, Press the brake, and push “Free Roll” button (FAST) 4. To exit, Press the brake, and put on Drive(FAST)
Amazing that of all the Tesla Car Wash Mode videos yours is the only one I found that actually shows the process correctly with the free roll enabled. Thanks so much for putting this together. It was very helpful.
Went through a wash and could not put it on neutral even though I’ve washed it before 😭😭 I had to reverse out of the car wash 😂😂 most embarrassing moment of my life. Learned well now
I was looking into this, but after looking into car detailing videos on YT, I am more about hand washing/pressure washing my M3. It’s a little more effort, but the car will remain cleaner/ keep the shine for much longer periods of time.
I've been detailing my cars for 5 years now or so. I wouldn't dare to bring my Tesla through those kind of washes. Only touchless, but even still it doesn't clean that well. Takes me 1.5 hours to clean the Y and X if its exterior with interior 2 hours each. But definitely worth having it the way I want it.
Unless he has PPL on it. Then it doesn’t matter if it’s touchless. I have PPL and I can go through anything without it damaging my paint. High end ppl.
Problem is most of the car washes around me you have to hand your car over to an attendant. They vacuum the interior first then one guy drives it into the conveyer. Good luck telling him it needs to stay under 10pm. A better system would have been to keep the car limited to 10mph while in car wash mode no matter how much you try to accelerate. A Tesla will go over 10mph with the slightest tap of the pedal. No car wash attendant is going to keep that thing less than 10mph when driving it into the conveyor. Poor design Tesla.
I have the M3P but with 18 inch wheels(more cushion) So I am not 100% sure. But I have a feeling the carwash are designed to not scratch up your rims...
Try at your own risk. I've done that couple years ago before Car wash mode came out, and it worked ok. But who knows if all the sensors were freaking out, and with the new software, things can behave different. so to be safe, I'd recommend just to use car wash mode.
The issue I have seen is the charge port is made to automatically open if you push the bottom of it. I have had a touchless spray car wash open the charge port because of the water pressure. Car wash mode locks the charge port from opening.
If you don't feel like doing all that, yes you can just put it on neutral using the shift stick. That's what I used to do before the car wash mode came out. But now I use the car wash mode, because on top of setting it to neutral, it ensures all my windows are closed, mirrors folded in, pause the proximity sensors and all the other internal tech stuff Idk about.

@@FlameMing they’re still visible anyway, also brushes can cause early clearcoat failing which is fading, and possibly going through the clearcoat (I also have a white car and swirls are anyway noticeable)

Duh! Don’t forget to put it in neutral. Or put the air as circulating within the car or otherwise if you keep your AC on you’re going to get the car wash smell into your car. You’re going to do more before you put your tesla into an easy car wash. The rest of us just push buttons and that’s it and it’s all good and done! Some of us have climate control that automatically does it and we don’t even have to push a button. Don’t forget to put your tire in the right place! Lol!
Your not saving the environment bec6 the chargers get power from a power plant and not even 2% of those are solar powered so keep thinking you are making a difference lol
I got my EV because it’s literally the fastest car on the road, and “gas” is so cheap it may as well be free. It puts ICE cars to shame in almost literally every possible metric. The environmental impact is only icing on the cake.
