I am a Tesla investor and I keep up with its latest news. The reason he cancelled the plan has two reasons. One, Elon had 1st quarter's earnings call to attend to. Second, there are some major changes going on inside Tesla. They are prioritizing FSD/robotaxi over every other thing. For instance, they have not yet to break grounds for the Giga Mexico that they announced a year ago. Also, he went to China for FSD approval just after cancelling the visit to India. They also fired a lot of people, apparently the whole charging infra team. So, IMO Elon and Tesla are prioritizing FSD & robotaxi over any other investments like new factories. Also, if they really do solve Self-driving, then the whole car Industry will be disrupted. You can see Elon's recent posts on X is mostly related to FSD, when it comes to Tesla.

Ev tuk tuk(mopeds) should be main focus to keep pollution as low as possible.

I disagree that India somehow has an edge in software. You need to look at the software applications of some of their hardware for example cctvs, automotive dashcams, etc. India is way far away in everything at this point.

Car parking still is the biggest problem in cities. That's the only reason I prefer public transport or cabs instead of taking my own car to crowded places like markets, railway station, airports etc. I'm not going to invest in a new car anytime soon.

I slightly disagree. Share of EVs out of total sales in 2030, will be atlest 95%, not 30-40%. (And I am talking about pure electric not Hybrid) This is because of 2 reason, 1. EVs will become much cheeper than Petrol car of similar size. 2. You would be abel to charge your car from 10% to 80% within 10mins, Via ultra fast (high power) charger. BTW, China me already 2024 me hi fast charging wali car aa chuki hai. It's an 7 seater car from Li Auto. (Li Mega ) India me aane me time lage ga, But 2030 tak to ye common ho ga. So there will he no range anxity. Because every 300km chalne ke baad you will anyway stop for 10mins for Toilet etc. Aur jab tak aap moot ke aao ge tab tak aur 300km ka range mill chuka ho ga car ko. Aur EV bhi petrol car se cheap ho gaya ho ga, This is because of exponentially falling price of Battery 🔋. BTW, China me EVs bahut sasta hai, Aur wo already petrol car ke price se bas 20% hi zada hai. Aur bas 1-2 saal me wo price partity reach ho jae ga. India me kuch aur saal lag jae ga. This is mainly becuse India me Battery 30-40% more expensive hai Because of very high tarrifs of battery. Sur Battery ke always bhi, Chinese auto makers are more efficient, so they can make same car (even excluding Battery) at lower price. BYD Segul in China is just $9000. And this car littel bigger than WagonR. BYD Dolphin price starts just from $12,000. (This car is slightly bigger than i10) Those price is super cheap, and almost at similar price range of petrol car sold in India. BYD, India me apna factory lagana chahati thi, I don't know usko mana kyu kiya.😒 Tesla high end gadi hai. Wo normal janta ke liye nahi hai. BYD mass market car hai. And BTW, Tata and Mahindra ka jo kar hai wo kaafi zada expensive hai compared ro BYD. Aur jo Tata ki kam price wali car hai usme chota battery hai. Car me minimum 50kWh battery hona chahiye. I don't know Indians ne kun sa paap kiya hai jo Indians logo ko itni mehengi gaadi kharidni par rahi hai compared to a Chinese person. But still, 2030 tak India me bhi 95% sales EVs ki ho gi. (Including trucks) It's just that we will achive this with a delay of 3-4 years. Otherwise ye usse bhi phele ho jata.

Kushal bhai - if it's ok to, can you please go back to edit the title of this podcast to something like "Electric Cars in India: Elon Musk and all that lies ahead". The conversation was useful, but ended up a bit of a freewheeling talk after a while. It lacked your usual panache/ quality. I am not blaming you; you are trying to provide content even while on the move. But, I don't want a few episodes to dilute your overall output. Also, what's it with Indians lambasting Greta Thunberg and lumping her sincere work with general woke-ism. Till late 90s, climate change was on the radar of Republicans too, in USA and it has always been mainstream in Europe (though there have been various attempts by the "well - oiled" to discredit it. Just because she made an error of judgement (by endorsing Farmer's protest in India; perhaps, her trusted lieutenants may be woke beyond repair) doesn't mean her cause, commitment is any less admirable. I can share with you many of her interviews, over years. It is very unfortunate that erudite Indians drag her and climate change cause in a flippant way. It only shows a 'take no prisoners' approach and it's mendacious.

15:08 to 15:24 thats absurd argument 300 miles means 482 km plus . So you wanna say that you gonna drive for 482 km without any break in between . Road saftey department says to have atleast half hrs break in between 300 km or 3 hrs for saftey and good driving less fatigue experience. How the fuck you gonna stretch above 400 km without any break for washroom, for eating just driving in damm one Position . In when you take break in some restaurants and if there is charging station then it's not gonna effect us And Charging station would be be installed if there is no demand and people will not buy ev . Remember petrol station were not installed in 19s just in one day , slowly slowly where demang came petro station installed and people were buying petro , diseal vehicles so in a way people were encouraging to have more station If we stop buying ev in name of no infrastructure then I am sorry there will be no infra . Alteast peope have to encourage ev manufacturers by bying CAR so that they build infra And who the hell go for 1500 miles in car especially in US , you just gonna take flight which will cost cheaper except you are going to some trip and all . But still 1500 miles means 1800km plus you gonna drive it using petrol car without break. Are you serious . Have you been gone to highway by driving . If you have , you know it's obvious for people to take break after 3 hrs of driving to recharge themselves unless some emergency situation situation there .
