Tesla Frunk insulation Mod

I wanted to use the Frunk on my Model Y to hold a Tasmanian cooler with our food on our long trips to Colorado. However, in the sun it gets really hot in there. This is a simple mod that almost anyone can do to help your cooler stay colder on those bright sunny travel days. Works for grocery trips also.

Seems to help. On trip to CO, water bottles in car got some ice in them. Ice tea in frunk cooler did not.

Nice experiment. However, still pretty warm in the funk. I would keep food in the back. Food poisoning on the road is no fun. How about comparing temps, frunk to storage area under rear deck without climate control on.

Thinking about doing that and popping out the bucket and insulating that as well. Maybe no cooler needed at all...

Yes, the Yeti coolers don’t fit. Not deep enough.

You mentioned road trips, did you get a spare tire for your model Y?

No. Modern tires are pretty good and nail and screw punctures usually give you a slow leak. I carry a small compressor and some tire plugs in case roadside assistance is not available.
