Great honest video…I’ve just ordered my Model 3 and am clueless so far lol. I’ll look forward to watching more of you my friend…very engaging content and delivery! All the best, Marcus
Love the video. We are so excited like you were we are off to Bluewater in Kent from Essex to pick our M3LR on the 8th February and have lots of plans to modify it so hopefully it will be a real head turner 👍🎉
Thanks Adam- that’s much appreciated! And yep, the family are all impressed. Mrs G is especially happy with my psychic powers in not having to worry about people panic buying fuel!
Lovely stuff. Assume you’ve gone for badger colours (black and white interior)?! 😊 I am absolutely loving it and can’t wait to make some more videos on what it’s like to own.
Thanks John! Very happy here - I recently posted my 6 month ownership review if you’re interested to know if the excitement has waned… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A2Oo9FqnNy0.html
Nice! Tesla should give you a heads up a few days before if the charge is going to be low in case you need to plan a charge stop. Zap Map and PlugShare are good apps to have ready if you need a non-supercharger charge in a pinch.
Kiitos! How exciting- bet those 3 weeks will feel like an age but it’ll be worth it. Enjoy! BTW I used get over to Helsinki with my work a few times a year pre-pandemic. One of my favourite cities- love the old style cafes and market squares.
Wish I saw this video before our MY test drive today - spent ages looking for the Tesla tent! We should be picking our Model Y up next month. Regen braking will take a little bit of adjusting to! Also from York so will have an identical return journey too.
Oh NICE. You’ll be used to it before you know and wonder how you ever managed without it! There’s a full playlist of Tesla vids on the channel including a local home charger installation which you might find helpful/useful.
Ordered my M3 SR+ February 28 2022, collecting March 29 2022. Midnight Silver, with a tow hitch. How quick is that ? First indication August, after deposit, May /June. Then a text, your car is on its way within a week. Another week, get your collection time slot, March 29th or 30th . Manchester Trafford Centre
Yep, they do like to charge a lot for rubber. Considering it’s all laser cut you should be fine with the Amazon recommendations- expect to pay about £100-120. Just check the seller’s location as there may be severe delays for China based manufacturers given the current situation is Ukraine.
Loved the video Mark hope you are enjoying your M3LR! I got mine at the end of Sept too - mine was sitting with over 150 miles from memory. And lol I had a bit of tug of war with the charging lead too!
Ah, that was mega embarrassing! Had to leave it in as the juxtaposition of talking about how I’d watched all these Tesla videos and then doing that was too funny. 🤣 How are you finding your M3? I’m going to post a 3-month review next month with some of the things I’m loving and a few that have been bugging me.
@@ThatMarkGilroy Very good... overall I am happy, love the cruise control hate the wipers sometimes! I'm planning more videos too next one is on tinting the windows...
@@ThatMarkGilroy also I was going to trade in my existing ice car but had a better deal selling It to an independent car dealership which was refreshingly pleasing. What is the standby battery drainage if you’ve already noticed?
Yep- I used Motorway.co.uk in the end- was almost £7K better than what Tesla were offering me in part ex. Really good experience with them. By battery drainage do you mean drainage whilst sitting idle overnight etc?
I never thought I would buy a Tesla, but after owning a second hand Leaf for 3 years (which is awesome around town and will have paid for itself in a years time), I now have a model 3 on order (due early next month) and really looking forward to it! For us our long range car was a Honda Jazz (which can be made to work with 2 children) - so looking forward to having more room in the model 3.
PS You may have already seen it but I made a video on how best to make the Model 3 work as a family car: Is the Tesla Model 3 a practical family car? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kOHwzdURAsg.html
An interesting overview of your collection experience Mark via your well edited footage. You have a warm personality for video production, keep it up👍 I shall be watching your Tesla journey with interest, hopefully you will produce content that is different to the norm.
Great video. I pick up my car (same as yours) on Thursday. I’m heading to Newcastle from York so hoping I have the same great experience 🤞🏻I might see if they can charge up the battery a bit more so I can get home without needing to charge on the way home.
Cheers Gav. There’s a ton of fast chargers on the way back from Newcastle so you should be fine either way. Enjoy the ride back down - autopilot doesn’t take too long to calibrate so you can be driven back by your new car 😊
Thanks for this. Really interested in getting a Tesla having been driving an Audi A5 for the past 10 years. Glad i found a UK user as just not the same vibe from an American user for me. New sub from me.
Thanks Patrick! If you have any questions (or requests for stuff I’ve not covered in my Tesla vids so far) just let me know. We went from an Audi A3 to BMW X3 to Model 3 - no regrets so far. Got a 3 month ownership review on the way in a few weeks.
They won't bring it back. They stopped it because it cost them £23,000,000 in lost revenue from free charges! There was a rumour that charging on the day you get the car at a supercharger is free and would not come off your free supercharger miles if you had any from a referral.
My delivery window starts October 27. After watching your video I am so worried about delays. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I am just so excited to get this thing!! How close to your delivery window did they tell you it was going to be delayed?
Oh I can definitely empathise with those excitement levels! It’s difficult to know exactly when Tesla would have told me as I was calling them every week running up to my first expected delivery date (we had a couple of big road trips planned and I needed to know if I had to factor in charge stops). Don’t be shy about pestering the delivery team until your car arrives. Call them every day if needs be.
Great video - you mentioned you sold your previous car through different means via coming across an article on a Tesla forum. Do you mind sharing how you sold your previous car etc.? Much appreciated, thanks.
Thanks Arthur, and sure, happy to. I sold my old car via Motorway.co.uk. Arnold Clark were the eventual winning ‘bidders’ and I had the money in my account within hours of handing it over.
@@ThatMarkGilroy That's great! I also want to understand the timeline in which you sold your previous car prior to receiving your brand new Tesla as I think I'm currently in a similar situation to what you was (i.e. existing car is on lease thus needs to settle payment upon receiving new Tesla). I imagine this is how it goes: - Order Tesla via website. - A week or two before receiving Tesla, sell old car via Motorway or via an alternative way. In the example of Motorway, the 'winning bidder' will pay off your finance and you will receive whatever equity is left on the car. - Pick up Tesla and start new finance agreement with them. Is this correct or have I missed something? Many thanks
Yep, that’s definitely one way it would work. I have two small kids and we’re a one car family so couldn’t gamble on not having a car even for a short while, so our process was: 1) Wait until the Tesla delivery date is confirmed 2) Go on Motorway.co.uk and start the process of uploading photos and info about the car you want to sell 3) Wait for winning bidder to get in touch. Agree sale price and an exchange date. 4) Pick up Tesla. 5) Hand over old car (I’d arranged this for a day after my Tesla delivery date). One thing to bear in mind is that quotations from car buying sites can vary depending on the time of the month. They will be under pressure to hit acquisition/sale targets towards the end of each month so if you can stretch your initial quotation out to then you might find a slightly better price than at the start of a month.
@@ThatMarkGilroy that's really helpful - much appreciated. Regarding point 3 (agree sale price and an exchange date), I just want to make sure I get this right... If lets say your settlement is £25k, and the sale price is £30k. The winning bidder will settle your settlement and pay the £5k to your own bank account? Just want to get my head around how the winning bidder will settle your finance on your behalf and how that step works. Many thanks :)
That's exactly it - the buyer of your old car will need to see proof of your settlement figure, then they will pay the leasing company directly to clear your balance, and pay you anything that's left over directly. In our case our equity had I used Tesla's own trade in would have been about £2K but ended up getting 3x that after shopping around. Used car prices are crazy at the moment!
The collection point was miles away from the nearest supercharger. Since posting this video though, they have put in super chargers at this collection point. Moral of the story is to check with the collection team before driving off!
Thanks for the video. That's really annoying only getting 20% charge on pick up, i hope that's not a common theme now to save the company money. I heard a rumour that you get free Tesla supercharging on collection day but clearly that can't be true if you were charging elsewhere.
Yep, luckily I was hungry so was able to grab a leisurely bite to eat whilst at the 7kwh charger- not too much of a problem in the grand scheme of things. I’d heard that same rumour about free SUC on the day, but no one at Tesla mentioned it to me on the day of pickup. The nearest supercharger to the Trafford Centre is a good 20min drive away so depending on traffic I might have struggled to get there.
@@ThatMarkGilroy I was at 25% when I picked mine up. I went straight to the SC's at Burtonwood services but that charge was deducted from my referral miles so I guess there's no free SC on day 1....
Ah, sorry that happened to you too. In fairness they did warn me in my pre-collection call that battery wouldn’t be full, but not that it would be that low.
Hi Chris- nope it’s the standard LR. I may at some point customise the alloys and add a spoiler but I think sadly my boy racer days are behind me 🤦🏻♂️
Hi Richard. It was actually set at 0 when I picked up. The 0.6 you can see on screen was the ‘trip’ I took from the Tesla tent across to the chargers at the Trafford Centre.
I noticed when you were collecting, there were a lot of cars with their hazard lights flashing or possibly alarm's going off, did you notice or know why this was? Just curious...
There was some loud music playing in the tent- didn’t record for the sake of copyright but I’m guessing the lights were flashing to give a bit of excitement. Not exactly a rave but you get the idea! Probably didn’t help my battery issue LOL
Short answer: Yes, of course I am. It sounds like that’s a problem for you Jim? These videos take time effort and money to produce and it would be nice to replenish at least one of those things even a little bit. Also- that’s my ‘why subscribe’. Your ‘why subscribe’ should be because you’d like to see more content like this. It’s up to you. 😊
@@chezchezchezchez I will- I do like a challenge! And at the risk of overstating my case- my ‘why’ isn’t JUST monetisation (I’m not quite that shallow!)…I really enjoy learning new things and I’ve already learned loads about video work, editing and more since posting regularly. Out of interest- any feedback Jim that might help convince other people who haven’t subscribed to subscribe? Be as honest as you like- I’m all ears.
@@ThatMarkGilroy I have a friend who makes about $50,000 a month from RU-vid. No joke, in fact, I’ll tell you his channel’s name: Origins explained. They are doing everything possible to get viewers, and make money. It’s their whole life. They’ve been doing it for seven years now. They are not passionate about the subject matter. They just want the money. The subject matter they use, as you’ll see when you check it out, it’s the absolute largest possible audience. If you are passionate about Tesla, I think it would be much harder to get a huge audience, because, you don’t get the teenagers that don’t drive watching. And that’s a large segment needed. (older people that have money to buy Tesla‘s are generally not watching videos like crazy compared to teenagers!) Anyway, do it because you’re passionate, and you’re having a lot of fun with it, if the money comes, that’s a bonus. Let know how it goes buddy! 👊🏻
