Something I forgot to mention about when you're picking up is checking the contents of the boot and front trunk - I've heard of a couple of stories about these items being missing... The boot should have: 1. Square Tesla bag with the 3 pin plug and charger cable 2. Type 2 charger cable (mine was a new Phoenix Contact one) 3. 2 mud flaps The front trunk should just have a red Tesla bag containing a first aid kit.

Yeah, they do some seem to release new updates to the hardware sporadically (like the wireless charger and USB C) which can be a bit annoying - more so if it's a big update and you're planning to keep the car for a long time. But then again I guess that's part and parcel of being a slightly early adopter on new tech!

Excellent video. I also forgot to use a referral code when placing my order. I asked Tesla if they would allow it to be added post order but said it wasn’t possible. However a few days later, the guy I had been dealing with at the Tesla Delivery Centre in Southampton had another customer about to place an order and he used my referral code. So I will get my free SC miles after all when the other guy takes his delivery. I get my M3 LR next Tuesday (8th September). So excited.

Really nice detail there. Thanks. I am almost in a position to place my order, and I will be going for the SR+. Out of interest: what made you go for the long range? Did you really need that extra range, or did you just want the 4 wheel drive? For me, the LR isn't worth the premium over the SR+.

Great detail! Im hoping to lease early next year, what does the finance application entail for leasing? (I'm used to PCP all the time)

Thanks! It was a pretty standard credit check form really - income, job, address, outgoings etc. Didn't take more than a couple of minutes to fill in and from memory there wasn't anything in there that had me scratching my head. It came back with the OK the same day at which point you get an email with a link to the contract hire agreement in your Tesla account. I think Tesla only started with their leasing offerings relatively reasonably, so the process might change a bit while they get it all refined, but to be honest all the finance stuff has been pretty smooth. Hope that helps, give me a shout if you've got any more questions!

@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
Hi Trevor, that's actually an update to the newer models. In my version the USB port is beneath the centre console, but in the latest versions they've moved it to be within the glove box (so that if the car is broken into, the sentry data can't be stolen).

I think the ability to load the referral after the purchase might depend on the SA you strike. I did the same thing when I ordered (taking delivery next week so getting excited) emailed my SA straight away and he said no problems, followed him up earlier this week just to confirm and he said it was taken care of. Will see when I take delivery...

Hi, really good video 👍 Looking to order a LR pretty soon, so will use your code. I'll definitely be getting the black & white interior, but I'm still undecided on the colour - I quite like the idea of the standard white with the B&W interior. I'm even more undecided on the wheels though, so... 1) Do you think the price increase is justified? And 2) Did you consider (as I am) just getting it with the 'normal' wheels, then purchasing a new set of 19" alloys and tyres.. which would work about about the same cost, but then you'd have a whole, untouched, set of wheels
@da1emorgan
@da1emorgan 3 года назад
Btw, just about to go through your other vids now... 👍
@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
Thanks mate! I think white would have been my next choice, definitely looks striking. Fully convinced on the white interior though, looks much nicer in my opinion. So I actually didn't look into your number 2 option, probably should have... From what I read beforehand, the extra cost was reasonable value for what you're getting and in general I thought (and still do think) the lighter colour on the 19 inch looked nicer in particular as an offset to the grey exterior I have. The other option you've got is take off the aero wheel covers to expose the alloys beneath. You can buy a set of bolt covers from Tesla, I think for about £50, and you're left with a pretty nice looking set of darker alloys.

What extra fees did you have to pay when ordering it? I see on alot of USA videos that the Delivery and Documentation fee is on top of the base price, is that the case with the UK or is it all baked in to the price on the Tesla website? Did you have to pay a first registration fee as well?
@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
For me at least, the price quoted on the site when I went through the process was exactly what I paid after the £100 when reserving, no other "hidden" charges.

Hi Jonathan, you don't have to pay the finance deposit until closer to delivery date, it's just the £100 that's needed immediately.

I wish I'd seen this two days ago. I went for inventory stock and pressed the button on Monday. (21st) no referral code :( Got the invoice with reg no and delivery date on Tuesday, ordered wireless charger from amazon. Wednesday (today) got call from Tesla confirming delivery appointment. Saw this vid.... do I cancel the wireless charger? I pick up the car from Birmingham on Saturday (26th) Mudflaps you say? Front or back?
@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
Hi Karyn, sorry to hear you've done the same as me with the referral code! Still, not the end of the world and you're going to have an amazing new car very soon by the sounds of it! Since the order is from inventory stock, it's difficult know whether or not it'll have the wireless charger (I think any produced June 2020 onwards do, so it's likely). I'd say give the Birmingham branch a call - they should be able to confirm, especially this close to delivery (the Amazon returns process though is very easy if you do need to return the one you've bought). The mudflaps, I think, are for the front, but to be honest I never really gave them a second thought and I'm struggling to find out anything about them online. Again it might be worth asking them if you call, but I dare say that if you do want mudflaps, there are probably some better alternatives available that'll come as a 4 for both the front and back. Not the most helpful reply ever I know, sorry! I'd be interested to hear how you get on though, let me know!

May I ask what made you choose PCH? I have thought about this myself but get a ‘mental block’ at giving them over £35k and then not owning anything after that time. But then I like the idea of having the car, handing it back after 3 years and having another new one then. Thanks 👍🏻
@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
Hi Richard, yeah, it was a tough call as like you say you effectively end up owning nothing at the end, but this is my thinking. Firstly, I know I don’t want to own this car for more than 3 years. Because it’s so reliant on tech, and because advancements in electric cars are being made quicker and quicker, there’ll definitely be a better version available by then (there is already!), and I’m the sort of person who likes to own the newest version of things when I can. Secondly, given that first point, it’s quite hard to predict a future sell-on value for the car. So while I could buy it, have it for 3 years, and then sell it, I’m not sure how big a differential that would result in versus just paying the cost of the lease. While it would still probably be cheaper overall, I think I’d rather pay the extra to just have the car, and then give it back at the end, rather than bother with having to sell it. Finally, I could have gone down the PCP route which effectively keeps your options open but I think this worked out as quite a bit more per month than PCH and didn’t seem worth it given my first two points. Now I know there will be plenty of people who completely disagree with that stance, and at the end of the day, it’s very much dependent on your own personal circumstances, and what financially works best for you. Hope that helps a bit!
@Richard_Barnes

What is the difference between the personal contract hire and tesla loan?
@jdhartwell732
@jdhartwell732 3 года назад
Hi Paresh, the Tesla loan is really just like a traditional loan in that you'll be borrowing the money to buy the car, at a fixed rate of interest. So you'll own the car properly and pay for it over the time period you choose. The contract hire is more like a lease/rental - you pay a set amount every month for the period you choose but you don't own the car at the end, you just give it back. The monthly payments on a contract hire will be less as you're only renting the car rather than buying it - so it really comes down to personal preference/circumstances.
