I watched you back in 2011 to get some ideas with my ct200h, now I'm watching you for ideas for my Model Y!

That's for tagging along for the ride. I hope you've been able to get some good ideas from my videos.

That rear spring adjustment PITA. Good video and will definitely look into installing these coil overs once my M3P arrives. Thanks again for great detailed video.

@TheAutomotiveFanatic Год назад
Yes Don, that rear spring is a PITA to adjust. For the most part, practically all coilovers will have this challenge on the M3 or MY.

I paired Eibach’s with 16 way adjustable Tein Enduro Plus shocks.

How does it ride Eric? Most likely, better than OEM I bet.

Very detailed tutorial. I have a MYP and yes I've noticed that the suspension needs to be upgraded. I wanted to change out the sway bars as well but it seems that the OEM sways are just as good and thick as the aftermarket, so I don't know. I might go with Tein coilover and maybe try to install it myself. Did you have to do a full car alignment? Subscribed.

I have heard great things about the TEINS. Give them a try. Depending on how low you go, you do not always have to realign. I did not!

Hey just checking in on how you have liked these coilovers. I am about to. order a set and want to make sure you haven't had any problems with quality or ride quality.
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 2 месяца назад
Thanks Matt for the question. Now that I have a fair of miles on these coilovers, I can conclude that their build quality and longevity have proven to be good. There's no strange noises or wear showing up. If you are considering these coilovers, I would highly recommend asking the builder to run softer springs that what they consider "normal". As much as the handling has improved, they are far too stiff to be a daily setup. Perhaps softer rated springs would provide a more plush ride. Just my long term advice.

Hi, thanks for the great video which I am going to use on my 2023 Model Y for the install. Did you later change the damping settings from 11 in the rear and 10 in the front to make the ride much more comfortable?
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 6 месяцев назад
I ended up dialing down the stiffness to 7/6 front/rear respectively.

How much did you lower the front and rear from stock? And what is the max lowering capacity of these? Great video, thanks!
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic Год назад
The front was lowered roughly 1 3/4" while the back was lowered roughly 1 1/2". You can go lower in the front, but the rears are capped out around 2".

And just how the hell are you getting at the 3 13mm top mount nuts?? No socket is fitting in there.
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 6 месяцев назад
Aaron, I assume you're trying to work on a Model 3? The Model Y should have no issues with the 3 tophat bolts. For the Model 3, you will need a thin wall 13mm socket that's specialized for the Tesla.

Hello, Did you do Adas ricalibration after installing the coil overs? Thanks
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic Год назад
No, I did not re-calibrate the system. In verifying measurements, my sensors are still accurate to the inch.

How’s is the ride? Do you know the difference between flat out suspension vs BC coilovers .
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic Год назад
Don, the ride as expected, is for firm that stock. However, some of the original loftiness is gone as is the pure harshness of the ride. As far as comparing the FlatOut to BC, there is no comparison. BC components are made in China while FlatOut are sourced either in the US or Japan and are all hand built and checked before they are sent out.

Thinner coil overs have softer suspension that thicker ones
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 3 месяца назад
To a certain point, you are correct. However, much goes into how the spring was created.

You probably don’t get this but I have to set the playback speed to 1.25x because the playback on my end seems a tad slow.

Thanks for your input. I watched the original video and there does not seems to be a slowdown. Perhaps something with RU-vid?

Flatout suspensions 🤮 People don’t buy these shocks. There are the worst company I ever dealt with. I have purchased a set for my son’s Outback and they run like total crap. The owner Russel is a total Jerk. Ended putting back the OEM struts back. He never got back to me. Btw I got the Mountain Pass performance on my MYP and they run amazing.
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic Год назад
Wow, that's terrible to hear. I'm sorry you had such a poor experience with Flatout. My personal experience differed from yours drastically. Nevertheless, tough to hear as there's no one perfect company out there. On a side note, glad that the MPP coilovers you installed worked well. Their coilovers are actually made by KW and tuned to their specifications so there's no surprise they function well.
