The warranty status always comes up when these chips are mentioned... I've discussed this at length with Tesla and per the company any mods you do, even just changing the puddle lights or installing the ever popular power frunk or trunk mods, can void your warranty. However Tesla would have to prove that the warranty claim was caused by the modification. This is true for every modification you do to your car. Keep in mind that these 980 rear motors in the early LR 3's were indeed Performance spec rear motors. So this modification is not stressing anything in the car beyond what Tesla has designed it to do.

A really great video. I know I am biased but they do a great job of editing and putting together the content. There is a ton of great information in this video. 15:13 I should have said 8 Hundredths of a second instead of 8 tenths. .8 seconds from wheels alone would be monumental. .08 seconds is good but nowhere near what .8 seconds would be like I accidentally said.

Installing the ghost chip. Does that reduce your range? Or do keep the range with performance power. Can the brakes handle the ghost chip speeds? Or do you need BBK?

If you then use the extra power lots then yes less range, cruising as normal there would be no effect on range.

If its "absolutely" worth it, why not spend just another 3k and go performance? Range is same if using 80-20 SOC. Whats the logic behind blowing 2k for a .6 of a second, but not 5k for 1.3 second, better break, and better wheels?

@@Buggabones Actually, I didn’t want the 20” wheels and performance package. I switched from a 2021 Model S LR that I loved, but wanted to sit higher and have a car that was easier to maneuver and park. Adding the Acceleration Boost allows me to switch lanes faster, which is safer. My car is named Scoot.

4:04 I am not sure if that's an accurate statement. For them to deny the coverage, they would need to prove that the said module/upgrade was the culprit for the damage caused to the car.

Been running the boost module for almost 2 years, highly recommend. It is worth the price if all you got was the app and the throttle curve change. Install is easy, literally 10 min.

Adding modifications to a can does not necessarily void a warranty, BUT if you have a problem and Tesla can show that what you installed caused a specific issue, then they can refuse to repair that item under warranty. I know of an individual who installed aftermarket puddle lights. The Puddle Light shorted out since the door regulator grounds through the light the window did not go down and the door trim and window were damage. The issue was NOT covered under warranty. Are you aware that the computer in literally every ICE car sold know when you change Cams, and many other items. I guarantee that Tesla is still aware of this chip, but if you have a problem under warranty with your motor or drivetrain, good luck...

Not to my knowledge. I believe you need “track mode” which comes with the Performance variant for that. Although, maybe the app that accompanies Abstract Ocean S3XY buttons can do that? Maybe someone with the S3XY buttons and the app can chime in? The Rocket Surgeon was showing me a lot of unexpected functionality that the app has built in; so it wouldn’t surprise me if TC was a part of that as well

It will not reduce the 0-60 of the performance variant. The Ghost chip only works on that one specific year/model/variant; they call it the "unicorn" Model 3 LOL

I understand that Tesla puts silicon carbide covers in the inverter and larger connections between the motor and the battery in the performance. If you draw that much current on a non-performance you might have an issue. These are the only changes we know about, Tesla probably makes more changes to the performance versus the long range.

The best way to void your warranty is to install an Ingenext chip. Tesla can detect the chips even after being unplugged. Not worth the risk. Just buy the acceleration boost, be content, or trade your LR for a Performance.

The acceleration boost from Tesla adds 50 HP. However the Ingenext Ghost chip we showed here adds 150 HP. The Boost 50 module is comparable to Tesla and adds 50HP, same as the Tesla's $2,000 acceleration boost.

@@joetripp123 I don't doubt the advantages both financially and performance-wise for the Ingenext chips. I'm not willing to lose the warranty on my battery or motor for the extra acceleration thrill. Tesla has a long history of punishing those who tweak or tamper with their cars. We'll see what happens in 2028 once my warranty expires, but until then, I'm keeping everything stock because I don't want to be forced to pay out of pocket for any issues that might ensue during the warranty period.

@@chadkelley fair enough. I commented on the warranty statement on another line. Basically Tesla told me they would have to prove any warranty claim was caused by a modification. But that can happen with any modification, even something as simple as changing your trunk lights to brighter ones.

@@joetripp123 Good points. Even if they couldn't prove the modification caused whatever malfunction that might occur, I would not put it past them to disable Supercharging. While yes, I haven't come across a story of someone having their warranty revoked, I have heard numerous stories of Supercharging being taken away from vehicles. Tesla is a lot like Apple, they don't like people messing with their software and tech. They protect it and sometimes punish those who meddle around.

According to the Ingenext website, the Boost 50 chip is available for any dual motor Model 3 or Y that is not a performance. The chip apparently adds other features along with the acceleration boost. *As much as Tesla or any other manufacturers try to write their way out of honoring a warranty because you made some changes, they much follow the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. As long as you didn't do something like modified the motor itself then you're pretty much covered no matter what Tesla tells you. Just take them to court under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and you'll win.*

Its because you have the newer 990 rear motor which cant be upgraded to a performance. You can only get 50hp more with the 990 engine.

Those 3hd party companies like ingenext are just stealing from Tesla by selling them. I wouldn't pay 2K for this and get my 8y warranty taken away for the motors and battery (in case u think Tesla won't know, u mistaken). Just pay 4k (diff. between LR and M3P) instead and u get same speed, bigger and more good looking wheels with better brakes and keep the warranty.

Idk for the extra $6K I paid in 2021 for a new performance it was worth the money . what you’d need to spend on a “chip” ($2k) plus brembos , wheels , and summer tires ($4K +). When I test drove a stock Duel motor LR I knew i would need breaks . Seemed like a value for only $6K more mostly for breaks and tires 🛞 . Plus heated rear seats and wheel and shinny pedals. Most boosted ghostbusters LRs are a bit faster due to their smaller wheels too at higher speeds vs my performance with the 20” wheels. But that’s just cuz of their light weight wheels I assume. And most importantly in your tesla app the car won’t have “Duel motor” with that red line under it. Peasants…. Jk 😂

My Model 3 had 40 lbs total removed for the lighter wheels and tires but yes I think the older cars had slightly smaller batteries so they were lighter.

@@LearningFast Its also the electronic trunk and double pane glass, the center console all heavier. Tesla also removed the stiffer suspension and bigger breaks that come with the 2020 and less Performances.

@@Johno144 yes, all of those things add weight too. Not exactly sure how much though. We also had two extremely large adults in the Performance model. We are both at least 6’4”. That made a significant difference in performance.

Pretty much guarantee you Tesla will find this chip if you go in for something broke.. and Tesla will not cover it. As long as you go into it knowing you’re throwing your warranty out the window. Fine. But expect it to void ALL of your warranty. Battery and all. There is no way they will guarantee any of your powertrain with an aftermarket hack on it. That includes the battery.

I wouldnt get a third party software upgrade. Playing with fire and will void your warranty for sure. Whos to say that chip wont cause something catastrophic beyond which that company could foresee which put your life in danger. Like the car just shutting off spontaneously
