Absolute same boat. Sold my cat, all drop racks, all spec tools and trailer. Had enough for a perf 3 and will never look back (after 20 years of gearing). I had enough left over after about a year to get the wifebot a Y. Absolutely phenomenal cars!
Exactly. I like cammed gas guzzling v8’s that make a lot of power, but I also think it’s cool how you can just chill inside a Tesla with the A\C on without idling your engine. Just so convenient.
I’m right there with you - Paid 52k for my model 3 dual motor, white seats, wheels. No tax credit… yeah but I still love it and I’m glad I didn’t wait, yeah I paid extra for the privilege of having it before the prices dropped and I’m ok with that… still stings a bit though…
@@rogerfroud300 I wouldn’t say “waste” I had money to spend on something I believed in and now the price drop makes it possible for others to do the same.
As a 3 year 2020 Model 3 owner, he will surely love the acceleration, especially if he gets a Model 3 Performance or LR, and his wife who think a he’s crazy will surely love all the money they will stack from not buying gas alone, my wife loves that part. He will also love the lower Tesla prices these days, perfect time to buy one..
..and the safety factor for all Teslas. Active safety features (AP/AEB etc), plus just car safety design and test, best for the family. Oh, and she can track where he goes on the app, too ;) and even see when the spouse is coming home, when navigating...
Brother... I have the same car: get the acceleration boost. I got it 3 days after I bought the car. Sub 4 second 0-60 gives you tunnel vision. And now they let you use credits so it only takes 2 or 3 referrals to get it for free (don't remember the exact number). Edit: now when I look it up, it says you only need one referral to get acceleration boost. So even better!
Yup, with the continuous price drops a Model 3 has become a no brain-er. My son-in-law and daughter used to have a Dodge Charger and then got an Audi A8 which between maintenance and repairs were gas hogs and both were big money pits. About 4 months ago he purchased a RWD Model 3 and couldn't be happier and has left the ICE age behind for good with absolutely no regrets. It has plenty of get up and go and handles real nice. Besides the insurance cost (which he would have regardless of what car he owns), his cost to operate the car is almost nothing since he keeps it plugged in overnight in our garage and the only time he pays to "fuel" the car is on the those few occasions he's out of town on a trip. My other daughter and her husband have a 2019 Model 3 dual motor which they purchased in 2019 and have driven all over the country on numerous road trips and never had a problem with it.
@@Beachtrader0007 Yup, and the Performance trim would destroy it. It's great to see his reaction just from a stock 3LR like mine. They are so much fun.
I picked up my used 2019 M3 LR. The previous owner added acceleration boost which transferred to me. It’s insane how smooth that electric power curve is and how violent it is. As former MOPAR head myself, I’m super happy with my Tesla.
there will be a new highlander Model 3 Performance with Plaid power. It will be called Ludicrous and it might just have 700-900 HP, 0-60 in 2.5-2.8 secs. This is going to be a hit for sure
What I love the most is even someone who has a gas car that can beat my Tesla Model 3 LR. I'm not paying their gas prices. Or for all costs in mods to get there. I have my cake and eat it too!
In times like this, if he knew someone with a Model S, not the plaid just regular S. So they can feel the difference between the two. M3 long range vs performance isn't that big of a difference. The long range starts to pull the performance in between 67 and 80. then it just sits at the same distance.
One petal driving an EV with regen braking is something most car lovers already are familiar with - from manual transmissions. It’s exactly the same as staying in gear and taking your foot off, engine braking slows you down and you don’t need to use your brakes for light breaking. Of course in a manual it will stall if it gets too slow, but otherwise it’s the exact same.
Yup! Exact metaphor.. but, EVs have "infinite speed/rpm transmission", so... never have to watch RPM or row thru gears (some view that as a loss, but... distraction from driving, and enjoying curvy mountain downhills, for me!)... and no worry re brakes (or engine) overheating, either! Instead, you LIKE braking, you get range back!!
One pedal driving in a Tesla is much better. Drive on a mountain freeway and the car just holds the number on cruise control. You don’t even know whether it’s accelerating or decelerating.
Except the ICE is wasting energy by adding friction... the electric is recovering energy. The gasser CERTAINLY is not filling your gas tank. No.. not at all the same.. The electric tailorable to your liking.
@@TeslaBarbarian To make matters worse, the day I went to the sales center, test drove, and decided to take the plunge, was the first day of another price increase.
Hellcats are over priced and over rated Hella Bad. My wife's Dual Motor EV6 will toast that model three and you can only imagine how bad it will destroy any Hellcat even the Red Eyes .... I do it a lot !!!! Funny in the rear view mirror way back there too !!!!
You only need to BE in a Tesla to experience the acceleration. You don't need to be anywhere near one to understand or know the acceleration, you just need education and knowledge. The output and torque provided by electric motors is well known, or should be, so what's the surprise?
Are you sure the logo on the car should not be, "W A S T E S L A M B O S"? I have a crude pic of it on a white Tesla if you tell me where I can send it.
Has been since the p100d imo, then the raven s and for 2+year's the plaids. Can't wait to see the tesla teams response to the lucid air sapphire and other new competitors. 👍🏻😎
I used to hate on Teslas HARD. My wife bought a Model Y and let me drive it…. I’m waiting for the Model Y refresh and then I’m buying my own. If you live in a region where chargers are fairly common you should definitely at least consider a Tesla.
Some people say not having the engine sound makes it worse, I say it makes it better! I can launch the car without alerting the cops because there's no sound. There's not even any tire squeal because of the excellent traction control and weight balance (Provided you have good tires).
Depends how you look at it. I find myself hitting 110-115 too easily on the highway because there’s no sound. The easiest way to explain it is that it’s as if you were playing a video game like Gran Turismo or GTA.
Great video! So much fun to watch. Always great to see an EV non-believer take his/her first ride in a Tesla. Put Butts in seats and Teslas sell Teslas.
Personally, I think acceleration is the worst reason to buy a Tesla. I drive in chill mode! My preference is lack of gas, low maintenance, safety, and fsd. I guess I must be a weirdo. 😂
To each their own! I totally understand! Actually, the Model Y owners in my last video said the very same thing! They ALWAYS leave their Model Y in chill mode! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vpscRTXcnqQ.htmlfeature=shared
I’m a ex hellcat owner and I just got a 2022 model S long range. I love it it’s the perfect daily and road tripper a high performance sleeper. And it’s funny as well all the features.
Do you regret not getting a plaid? I’m only asking because my husband bought a model s long range and we are currently waiting for the VIN, but he’s feeling like he maybe should’ve gotten the plaid instead of waiting so long for the long range.
No it’s only .5 secs faster than a long range everything is the same other than the third motor and it’s 30k more that’s a lot for .5secs. Makes no sense. The long range model S will make you light headed 🥴 with a few pulls it’s lighter and handles better. Get the long range I would keep your in for new one and find a 2022 preowned with low mileages in the color he wants and spec and save yourself a ton of money. Thats what I did and I got the FSD beta for free. The first owner paid 104k for the car and already did the tinting on the windows, paint correction, ceramic coating as well. There are really clean preowned examples out there and he won’t have to wait and won’t be underwater vs buying it new. If gets a preowned one cancel your order for a new one. Thats what I did as well. Good 😊 luck 🍀 in your search. Oh one more thing I get all the warranties from Tesla as well.
A hellcat does NOT go 3.9 on a street anywhere on street tires. My wife's car does but the Dodge ...... NO WAY. On a prepped drag strip with slicks MAYBE
Stories like this is one reason why Dodge themselves is replacing Hemi-powered Charger and Challenger with electric! Even that's not enough to made a lot of gas station addicts believers.
Elon musk need to see this video! This is advertisement and it works. Sure it’s a test drive more than an ad but heck this video will make ppl at least interested to get that test drive which will turn into sales.
Your stats that you flash up at 3:42 are wrong - the model 3 Performance has around 450hp, the dual motor Long range has 363hp. I think based on your other stats you're driving in a LR, as I didn't see the red rotors and the performance rims
My LR with Acceleration Boost is 3.7 0-60 is amazing. But the sound system... what?!! That was a major bonus when I crank that up playin some Metallica! Love these cars.
I dont get the braking part. 1. Wouldn’t it save energy if tesla just let the car keep going instead of breaking? In another words, let it coast. Then regenerate when you step on the brakes 2. Some say you dont need brakes cause it does it for you. But what if you need to brake faster than it currently is braking. Like if you are about to crash. I don’t see how they can rid of the brakes
It doesn’t break for you unless on autopilot. The electric motors turn into generators when you come off the gas peddle. If you need to break hard apply the breaks. It will add your friction breaks to the “engine” breaking. If you drive smoothly you will barely need the break peddle. As for efficiency, having the electric motors add power back to the battery beats costing in most cases when you need to slow down. On long down hills it can add a lot of power back to the batteries.
@@richmargin6082To slow down or stop. You can throttle how much you take off the accelerator, which will change how much Regen is applied, and if you are trying to 'coast' as in keep your speed the same it is easily achieved. And if you are going downhill, even a fairly gentle grade will lead to some Regen, which is always nice to see juice being put back in. Dr. Know it All said it best: he judges his day to day drives based on whether or not he had to touch the brake pedal. Of course there are times when one needs to slam on the brakes, but you will be surprised how little you touch your brake pedal once you are used to the Regen. When I drive our other car, an ICE, I coast and wish it would slow down for me.
They still have normal brakes, you just don't use them much. I think you can't coast because there is no clutch to disengage the gears. This mechanism and rotational mass would be inefficient. So "coasting" will always use energy in this system, BUT you recover a good portion of that spent energy via the direct connection. The reason the Semi appears to "break the laws of physics" is it has 3 motors than recapture energy every time it goes downhill or brakes.
1. You are thinking it like regular ICE cars where the brakes convert kinetic energy to heat (friction). In case of an EV, the motors can act as generators and putting that kinetic energy back to the battery instead of wasting as heat. So if you're going downhill, you can charge the battery back up a few %. 2. Yes it still has mechanical hydraulic brakes in case you need to brake faster. I've found myself using it a few times where I didn't time the regen brake right (let off the accel pedal too late) or in emergency situation (about to rear end the front cars).
