I like your feed back on the Tesla bro. Everyone hates on them since there is a forceful push to make everything green. These cars are just friggen epic, people that hate on them never drove one.
Dude.... havent watched your channel in years. When I had a JK I was always going over your content. It was funny when I went to look up how to rotate my model 3 tires and saw you. :) Nice.
To be honest I don't like electric cars but hey you can't please all tastes. Anyway, I watched the entire video and clicked that like button just to support the channel. We love u man
I appreciate this very much! If you are a "car guy" there is no reason not to like this electric vehicle. 500+ horsepower with extremely competent handling and great technology... please. Now if you don't like the looks, I get that, but one of these days... see if you can get behind the wheel of one and then lets talk again! LOL

Great video! 👍 According to the Tesla website, the recommended frequency is every 10,000 Km (not miles). It says: “every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or if tread depth difference is 2/32 in (1.5 mm) or greater, whichever comes first.”

Great video! Detailed without sounding like a lecture lol. Makes me think about rotating tires in the Michigan winters and the wheels “welded” to the hubs. Have to mule kick the wheel with your boots to break them free LOL
Hey thanks! Yeah, we are so lucky here in the mild weather of Southern Cali... just last year I bought a $800 Tahoe that was absolutely pristine underneath. Still drive it today!

Definitely in for more Tesla videos! Especially your take on that vs say the Mustang. I would love a Model 3, but I am worried my other ICE cars will seem boring. Especially if it's a performance version like yours. I have worked on a project to go fast in a straight line for about 8 years now and I would hate to not like it because the Model 3 is so good. Keep up the awesome work! Love your videos!
This is a legitimate thought process. The car in this video is my wife's car and her daily driver and we'll take it to family events and such. I run errands in it once in a while but really enjoy driving the Mustang, Jeep or truck because of the ICE. The Tesla doesn't replace my truck for work stuff or Mustang for fun stuff but it is wonderful addition to the household. It feels good to have an environmentally responsible vehicle to offset the others and the thing is just amazingly good and fun to drive.
@@AutoEdits Thanks for the reply. I'm just afraid that the acceleration in the Model 3 with make my other project seem slow. Lol. Maybe I should bite the bullet lol. Again, thanks for content! Maybe Lucas will sponsor you one of these days!
You know, that Tesla is BY FAR the fastest thing at our house and it does a great job at being a safe reliable (eco friendly) vehicle for my wife and for the times I do drive it... but nothing can replace the reward of rowing through the gears and the rumble of a V8 engine! These electric cars being phased in now will allow us to enjoy our older cars in a responsible way for much much longer.

Thanks. Very educative. Just curious why not inflating a little more. The max pressure allowed by the tire manufacturer is 50 or something... So the rim won't injure your tire (snake bite) when your wife hits a pathol

Howdy and welcome! We are getting close-ish as well. I'm leaning towards getting the same but not from Tesla so they wouldn't have the foam insert and might be a bit louder but cheaper.

Thanks for the tips, my wife has a white model 3 that sits next to my JK in the garage. I will be using your tip of jacking up both tires with one jack for her rotation. Curious on your thoughts on the cornering/handling of the Tesla.
It's piece of cake! I love to hear other folks with the same diverse vehicles... it really makes sense to me and I'm disappointed by people that hate on stuff because it's different. Implementing these electric cars into our lives now, means we get to enjoy our combustion engine stuff longer... why don't people understand that??? And I think this thing handles fantastic. Can't praise it enough for the sheer power and way it controls the weight transfer... major thumbs up from a true car guy perspective.
What's with the music video in the background? I just turn on the radio. I enjoy everything on every topic you put up. What about a John Deer riding lawn mower?
I found a great Foo Fighters playlist on you tube so that's what's going on back there. Thanks for the support across topics... I wouldn't mind a riding mower... my yard is almost big enough for that but not quite...LOL

Wow... so impressed and thankful you've been here that long...LOL! The bug was a good looking car and really, really fun to drive but totally disappointing from a mechanical standpoint. I don't understand how VW enthusiasts are fine with a car that always has something wrong with it or needing fixing... I couldn't keep up and when the timing chain stretched... gave up on the thing.

Thanks for great video. I notice you used a 3000lbs jack. Is it sufficient/safe enough? Would a 2Tonne jack be ok for a model 3/Y or would you recommend a 3Tonne jack. Many thanks
Yes a stronger jack is always better... It's just tricky and often very expensive to find a heavy lift jack that is low enough for these vehicles. I did just test out this airbag jack that would work on the Tesla without the adapter ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zUm08-PBjk4.html
Hi Jason, thank you for all the great how to videos, Ive been watching your Wrangler ones for years now! I was wondering what your thoughts on the Tesla are especially coming from something like the Wrangler? Is it easy to make the switch and drive it? Any range anxiety / how is it to road trip with? Very interested to hear your thoughts, or maybe see a video about it! Thanks!
I didn't switch, this is my wife's car. She commutes every day (when we could) and we drive it to family gatherings and other stuff. I love this thing as a "car guy" because it is so good. Fast, fun and full of technology. I installed a fast charger here at the house and the 260 mile range does just fine for our needs.
@@AutoEdits Thank you for the reply! The switching was more from the perspective of driving a wrangler to then driving the Tesla (driving position, style, etc). I currently have a wrangler and am considering a Tesla (a big switch I know) and I don't know anyone else who has both. Most people seem to have gone from another EV or hybrid to the Tesla so its very difficult to gauge how the switch might be so its great to hear your thoughts even though its not your main car! Thanks again!
@@bikersimm22 You'll be surprised to hear that I've received several messages from people with a Wrangler and a Tesla in their garages. It's literally a perfect "Yin/Yang" thing. Great balance.

Tesla recommends rotating the tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or if tread depth difference is 2/32 in (1.5 mm) or greater, whichever comes first. Not 10,000 miles
@@AutoEdits I copied and paste from my manual as well. However, thank you for your video as I will rotate my tires myself on my Tesla. Very informative!
Can't really argue about wheel chocks but that is absolutely the parking brake pump that I hear when going into park on this vehicle. There is no transmission to engage a parking pawl so a pump builds brake pressure and locks them into place.
You live in LA with potholes : in the UK we laugh at your potholes, every road has 1000's of potholes some big enough to eat a whole road-cone. You would be insane to run those low profile tires; OK some people run low profile tires - for a while, then learn.
@@AutoEdits apparently around 50k miles control Arms. Tesla charges around 315ish to fix the problem. However there i am hesitant on going to take on the task on changing mine. If it was my ranger danger no problem but on the tesla I am a bit scared of doing it
$600 for jack stands for Tesla. Not interested in rip off pricing. There are only two manufacturers that I’ve found. Are you aware of any other options? And are you really going to buy $600 stands? I’ve thought for that amount, I’d rather buy a complete floor lift. Thoughts? Thanks for this video! Stay healthy!
Just use normal jack stands. Amazon the hockey pucks. It’s cheap and simple. I live in Nebraska and have a 18” rim and Nokian winter tire. For my performance.
Those were the stands and yeah, I believe they are too expensive. I can't do a floor lift but it is a good option if you are going to be doing a lot of upgrades to your Tesla. For normal maintenance... this will work just fine for me!
AutoEdits 235/45/18 nokian wrg4 Vision rims. It’s hard finding 18” rims that fit over the brakes/rotors. I did the whole package for under 1000$ Plus the wh/per mile is tons better with 18. The 20 in stock wheels are very heavy. Maybe compared to a truck light. For a sports car heavy. Remember 235/45/18 tire is the same diameter as the 235/35/20. Aesthetics is the only purpose for low profile tires. My zero to 60 times are faster with my 18” wheels.
a bit disappointed you didn't do a cross rotation. Getting the car off all 4 wheels is the fun part. Jeep is easy (I jack the differentials), my Honda a bit tougher as the front jack point is behind the engine so I have to get it up on a ramp before I can slide my jack under it. Haven't done the Durango yet. But how do you get the Tesla off all 4 wheels?
It would take multiple jacks or like I mentioned in the video, a unique (and expensive) jack stand setup. I would normally want to cross but since the tire wear is so even, there's really no need for it.
So after a year your wife didnt complain about the prius droning noise so you decided to rat yourself out ?? lol .... my wife would have picked up on it day one hhahah
It will do it automatically the first time you drive it afterwards. Scan towards the end of this video where I show the process ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zL0w9gwL4sg.html Good luck and have fun with it!
It is the AWD and the recommended rotation is still front to rear. I would recommend an occasional cross if edge wear was more evident on the fronts but they are really good so far.

The translation from your voice to print showed the torque amount as 429 footpounds, at the 18:00 timemark. I had to run the clip back and listen more closely to hear that you actually said 129 ftlbs !

I rotated front to back and now the car is showing the tire pressure wrong. Showing on the front the pressure of the rear tires. What did I miss? Suggestions?

I never agreed with Tesla's 10k tire rotation schedule, it made no sense and it was clearly to give the impression that their car needs less maintenance. Tire wear no matter what the vehicle and will benefit from 6k rotations and it looks like now Tesla agrees with a sooner rotation schedule.
That’s a no no in my book. I grew up in my my dad’s auto shop, and leaving the low profile jack in place is a safety issue. It’s hydraulic based, if the fluid leaks, jack fails. Sure, you have the rear supported by a jack stand, but all points should be held by jack. You need a different jack lift to properly work on a tesla.
Doing a tire rotation on my Lexus RX350 was fun as well, I just drive to a Lexus dealer there I can either wait in their owners lounge while they serve me a cappuccino. Or they give me a random Lexus to drive around town to do chores. Traded my RX350 in for a Model Y and I regret it, Tesla charges $50 for a tire rotation. And I would need to leave the car there for god knows how long with no loaner since they are "so busy." If I had the nerve to complain they tell me I am expecting Rolls Royce/Bentley service on a Tesla. Yes I should expect to rotate my own tire on a 55k car. This is by far the worst company I had the misfortune to deal with...
