Well done! I’ve only had my model 3 for a month and you hit a bunch of great tips. How about one on the autopilot features and more on the voice commands?
Hello mate what a lovely video. Have an M3LR arriving next week. Cornwall from London booked August. Hotel has a destination charger 😁 (Is that free?!)
That’s awesome! Yes destination are free, but they aren’t done via the Tesla app. You’d need to basically ask the hotel permission (but they can’t charge).
Enjoying your clear informative videos. I am presently driving an AudiA3 sport back cod variant. Always been a petrolhead since my 1st car (MGA) followed by numerous sports cars and some more mundane Mondeo’s ! Love German engineering and hope that my next car is a Berlin made model Y as I’ve a big dog and two grandchildren to accommodate ! I test drove an Audi Q4 etron and found it rather uninspiring and sluggish which sadly left me disappointed but then I drove a Tesla model III performance and it blew me away. Just took me back to my younger days! Agreed it’s not a supple tuned sports beast but I’ve not had such zippy acceleration since a Porsche 911 so I am now counting the looooong days until Elon’s clever concept finally arrives in the U.K. :) Cheers.
picking up my red, long range tomorrow from Tesla in Salt Lake City, UT and then to have the windows tinted. Any thoughts on having the windshield tinted? I've already ordered a glass screen protector for the display, lug nut covers along with the red T for the center of each wheel. I'm very excited. Her name is BEANO (no gas).
Another no-nonsense fact-filled and informative video..... its been a long wait! Driver profiles; you mention it saves the seat positions, showing the passenger seat adjustment, so , are you saying that the passenger seat is linked to specific driver profiles as well as the driver's seat? If two people with the app are walking towards the car then whose profile will the car set to? SOS button ; you say it calls the emergency services..... who is the emergency service? is it the same as dialling 999 on a telephone? Door locking/unlocking; can this be done with a voice command? Headlights; if there is no control on the stalk, then how do you switch to beam/dip? Valet mode; an obvious necessity, but can the top speed or acceleration be curtailed to stop the car being abused performance-wise? Not having a ski hatch is a bummer..... I use mine regularly for carrying long items without compromising the safety integrity of other items stowed in the boot. I read recently that the rear doors don't pop-open when you press the open button like the front doors do, can you confirm whether this is the case?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it David. The passenger seats are not linked, I was just showing that seat in the example (lighting was better). If two people walk up to the car, it's whichever phone connects first via Bluetooth, or the last profile that was used. SOS - Yes I'd assume 999 as opposed to 101. Doors - I've not tested this yet. Headlights - You can put your full beam on, by pulling the left stalk. You just can't turn your dipped lights on/off with it. Valet - Yes you can limit the top speed, you could also put it into 'Chill' mode to limit how responsive it is. Rear doors - I have sat in the back, and from memory the doors to pop open.
Thanks. I use Watch App for Tesla which adds functionality to my Apple Watch like open frunk or boot. Sometimes very handy when I’m carrying something heavy.
That's one of the reasons I started creating content last year, there doesn't seem to be a lot of UK owners who are sharing online too. Hopefully more and more do over the next year, especially when the Y comes out.
@@SpawnPoiint Thanks again, great to see!! Can't justify a car as large as a Tesla here in Guernsey, but if I was in the UK it'd be top of my list. The boot of the 3 would annoy me, but the Y looks perfect. That said, I'll probably end up holding out for a Tesla hatchback, hopefully battery day will unveil tech that could enable a 300 mile range in a smaller vehicle... Such an exciting company!! 🚀
If you remove the wheel covers and use the Tesla wheel kit don’t forget to change the wheel settings in the service section as when calculating battery usage on trips etc. it will take this into account
We’ve had our M3 only about a month. So this was very helpful, especially your mentioning the various voice commands you’ve used. The manual doesn’t go into much detail on these but you gave me a ideas for a number of things to try. Thanks!
During the pre-purchase stage I’m going through right now I’ve watched hundreds of hours of RU-vid videos. I just came across this one of yours. You’re the first person to mention hard reboot with your foot on the brake, as well as voice activated glove box. Very nice 👍 new Sub here. Wayne from Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Chris, sorry if you've already answered this, where did you get the number plates from? When I had the MK1 mx5 I didn't like the plates it came with and used an adhesive plate on the bonnet. Thanks for the informative videos. Graham
Such a well organized video. I didn't know about the mirror auto tilt . . . . runs off to garage to enable feature . . . that's better. That will be really useful when parking. Thanks!
Hi Chis Thank you for helping me with your link re the stickon number plates. The front number plate looks grey background and not white. How do you specify white. Also can you trll me what size of number platrs you got. Thankd
Great video and really helpful. I'm going to go electric early next year and currently its between Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. This video has put the Tesla firmly as front runner. Thank you.
Uh great tips and makes me even more excited fir delivery. Really pleased that the voice control can be used fir simple functions that don’t need a screen touch. I did buy a wrap fir centre consul but I’m gonna try your tip of just a micro fibre cloth after all it does look cool just as it is and see how I get on. Cheers and brilliant !! Thanks Chris
Spawnpoiint, Thanks for doing such a low key no fuss UK based summary. I have had a Model S for 4 years and am about to pick up a new Model 3 so there were some helpful differences and new features you highlighted. I am also using Octopus but I have changed to Agile rather than Go. There were afew days in the summer when the price was negative so I charged the car and got £3 for my trouble.
@@SpawnPoiint it will be interesting to see what the rates are like in Winter when solar power is reduced but most of my electricity is around 7p except when cooking our evening meal. Quite often overnight rates were 2-3p so it feels like a good deal rather than 15p except between 12.30 and 04.30. I’ll be interested to see. Donald
Really enjoy your Tesla videos: comprehensive guide to ownership particularly for potential UK owners. I know you’ve covered it in other videos but I’m about to order and just can’t decide whether to go Performance or LR-AWD. You’ve given great reasons for your choice and I was convinced I’d do the same. Just a nagging feeling that I still want the Performance. Any thoughts? Cheers.
Haha mate I feel your pain, I really do. Have you driven both? What do you want from the P that the LR doesn’t offer? If it’s the power, you could go LR then get the £1500 upgrade. But if it’s the ‘I own the P’ then I’d just go for it. I have no regrets, and I don’t feel inferior 😂
"The glove box has to opened via the screen, but tbh I don't put anything in it anyway". That makes sense! Have you found operating the window wipers annoying [ah saw in another video you use rain-x and don't need wipers]? I wonder whether Tesla will add a few more button controls on the steering wheel for critical stuff in the future.
Wipers I have set to auto, but if I did need to use them, just a tap on the stalk will wipe once anyway. It would be good if they allowed pressing it once for one wipe, and a double tap to turn it on etc.
Nice video. 6:47 I note you are in Yorkshire, so hello from sunny Wakefield! One question - where did you change the front number plate? From what I can see, yours is stuck on, unlike mine.
Question: you and your significant other are both “stored drivers” with their own preferences. You both walk up to the car to go somewhere, can it tell who is driving the car and memory preset the seat/mirrors?
Unfortunately it's a gamble when we both walk up to it. So sometimes it selects me, and sometimes my wife. It usually defaults to the last person who drove it though, so if we're together all day, and I drive first, it'll default to me the rest of the day (if we both walk up to it).
Great overview. I’m very tempted to get one but I’ve read some reports about issues with controlling wipers while driving, and maps not appearing when there are mobile connection issues. I’m based in the uk so keen to get your thoughts on how you’ve found this in our rather rainy country ?
I’ve had zero issues with the wiper controls. As for maps, I’ve had one problem where the signal was too poor and the visuals wouldn’t load. But that’s just once.
