Thank you so much for these videos, i thoughtlessly bought my son a very wide convertible seat that i love but in my narrow little CRV with a second child we were essentially aced out of a third adult passenger back there. You sold me on both an Exec for my infant and a Chicco MyFit for my older, already forward facing preschooler (who doesnt need me spending more on an ARB he wont use in FF). 🤞 Both carseats and an adult fit back there!

Glad you are liking those seats!

If those are non-adjustable head restraints in the outboard seating positions, the top tether strap should be routed to the outside of the head restraints rather than going over the top. If routed over the top there is a risk of the strap sliding off the top of the head restraint this making in veery loose.

James! Yes you are totally correct. This is a great example of WHY ITS SO CRITICAL to read the CAR MANUAL. I rented this car and Tesla manuals are on the dash there is not a physical book. I wasn't comfortable without the owner being there to try to pull up that screen but you are totally exactly correct! Thank you for pointing this out and demonstrating why it's so critical to read the car manual as well as the car seat manual as well. Thanks for watching too!

Would it be possible to do a showing of 2 forward facing seats in a 7 seat suv, medium-large if possible instead of something really big like Palisade. I want to know if you can fit them side by side leaving room to slide that chair to get into 3rd row. Or worst case having an adult sit in middle safely maybe. I have 2x44cm car seats and we are currently looking for a family car that can accommodate this without having to go for minivan

Great tutorial, much appreciated! will 2 forward facing and 1 rear facing work too?

Useful video, thanks. Are these Nuna Execs narrower than other car seats? Or are they a similar width to the majority of seats on the market?
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids 10 месяцев назад
So they are 18" wide which is wider than "narrow" car seats which are typically 17" wide. This video is to demonstrate how the belt cinching plates and narrow base enables a parent to position it perfectly for their specific scenario. The buckle stock placement on the Tesla Model Y is terrible. Kia Souls also have this same issue so it's not just one car brand I am picking on it's the car manufacturers who cut corners and put buckles in stupid spots which prevent useful car seat installation. I live and work in the Bay Area and Model Y's are super popular here and I run into this 3 across issue in this car all the time so that's why I made it. Hopefully this is helpful. As a general rule of thumb most people will (incorrectly) say you can not fit seats wider than 17" in a 3 across situation and sometimes that is true but I find if a seat has good seat belt lock offs you can sometimes get away with a seat wider than 17" but it is situationally dependent.

Thank you so much for this! I’m thinking I need to switch to 3 execs because I can’t get secure installs with graco slimfit3 lx in my tesla. Will this work with 2 rf and 1 ff? I have a 3.5 yo, 1.5yo and will have a nb.

Yes this should work for all ages. You probably could do two execs and an infant seat but i think 3 convertible seats in some ways just might be easier than an infant seat. Best of luck to you and congrats on the 3rd :)

Do you think this would work in a Hyundai Santa Fe? I have a 2017. My ravas won’t fit with two FF side by side for three across. Looking to do two Execs FF side by side and the Nuna Pipa Lite RX on one outside??

Have you tried 3 nuna execs across in a Mercedes GLS? I’ll have 2 forward facing and 1 rear facing. Appreciate any other tips for this combo!
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids 10 месяцев назад
I suspect it would work. I have not tried it but generally speaking Mercedes have a little wider interior than other vehicles. The challenge with this Tesla is the type of seat belt buckle stocks and where they sit in the car.

Do you know if 2 ravas and and exec will work ? Or 3 ravas, one forward facing. I purchased a rava for my 14 lb girl but we are expecting another and would like the most ideal situation when we plan to have more. We have a Tesla Y 7 seater.
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids 10 месяцев назад
I am not sure if that specific configuration will work. I doubt that it would because those execs were kind of pushing the limit so the rava with the extra width would make me feel like it probably won't fit. I do have videos on some other narrow car seats that may make sense for you for that vehicle. Let me know if you have other questions when you watch those. Thanks!

What setup would you recommend for three children, 7, 4 and 3 months. Considering they should all be on the back seat?
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids 11 месяцев назад
3month old I would suggest this. the 7 year old I would think you could do a FF seat that has a higher torso harness height or a skinny booster seat like the Peg Perego flex 120. It really depends on the weight and height of the children more than the age and then if you want to do extended rear facing. If you have the 4 year old Forward facing I would do a myfit cause it has a longer torso harness height but if they are still rear facing I love the Exec. But like I would do one or two Execs and then Either a Chicco Myfit or a Peg Perego Flex 120 depending on what made sense for their age and how developmentally appropriate it is for them to move into a booster seat :)

Came here looking for guidance on the center seat in that row. I don't think the tether is meant to be used with the center seat - check the manual. It's also not labeled for it on the back of the seat like the left and right side are.
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids 10 месяцев назад
So I double checked in my latch manual, which is basically a definitive book that car seat technicians use to find tether anchors and lower anchors in cars, and then the second row of model Y and absolutely has three tether anchor points. If you’re unable to find it in your car, I recommend you take it to the dealership to look for it. If you’re looking in the third row, it’s not there, but in the second row there are three tether anchor points. I appreciate your concern, though I agree that the Tesla manual is poor so if you need help, I wouldn’t hesitate driving it back to the dealership and having them show you physically where it is.

@@destinationbabykids thx for responding. I can see the black metal bar looking thing on the back of the center seat - however it’s much higher than the ones on the back of the left and the right seats, is not labeled at all (whereas the left and right tether points are clearly labeled) and when I try to connect the tether in the center, it does not allow the tether to be connected- it’s like the opening is too small. That said I have no idea what else it’s supposed to be used for. My 2023 long range Y manual also shows only the seat belt being an option for use in the center seat. That said, I wonder if this varies between model years. I really wish car seat safety stuff like this was universally mandated and much clearer; it’s very unfair to families that we even have to wonder.

Correct. But that is your third FF tether spot. I am glad you were able to find it.

Why don't you use seats with Isofix?
@destinationbabykids
@destinationbabykids Год назад
The car seats all have lower anchor connectors. The Vehicle however only has two sets and those are on the outboard and if you use them you lose the center seat position based on the spacing. Using a seat belt enables flexibility for all 3 seats to be able to sit next to each other. Additionally Lower anchors have a significantly lower weight limit than seat belts so most car seats that are not infant seats will at some point have to use the seatbelt instead of the latch/isofix based on that weight limit.
