@@marc_benton I enjoyed the video and subscribed to the channel. All of the additional cosmetic improvements that you made to your model look great! I just wish that you had addressed overall daily performance / usage in the real world with 9K for the yr...charging situations, distance things... like that as well as your setup for charging at home...? How much is your actual total cost for the year of having A much better looking landspeeder then Luke had??

Great video and nice car. I would add ground clearance as a bad. Most crossovers have over 8 inches in ground clearance, model y is only 6.6 We go camping and Snowboarding a lot and would have loved to have that extra height

I have the same concern. But I think the model Y actually has a higher ground clearance than most other EV’s . My Mustang Mach E has just 5.9 inches of ground clearance. I’m going to replace the current 225/55/19 tires with 235/55/19 which will raise the ground clearance to 6.1inch but still less than the Y.

Thanks for the update. I’m curious on the efficiency difference between the 19” and 20” rims and tires. I want the black 20” rims and tires as I think they look better. Have any idea about this? Do any long road trips with your MY?

I am not sure on the efficiency differences but if I had to guess, you will have about a 5-10% range loss. That’s based on experience with various wheels on Model 3 (18’s, 19’s and 20’s). Yes, we have done quite a few road tips in our Model Y. Range isn’t an issue with any long range Tesla.

This might seem petty but I have to ask. So, I test drove a model Y and was shocked at the lack of visibility through the rear windshield. The Tesla only has a slit to look through. It’s almost non existent. I’m used to a huge rear windshield. Now, I realize that the Model Y has a camera, but I don’t like that I’d have to push a button and look at the screen in order to scan behind me, rather than a quick glance in my rear view mirror. Feels unsafe. What do you think about this?

Thanks for the review! I'm looking at both Model Y and Model X. Since you've owned both, I'd like your opinion. If money were no issue, and now that there is a refresh Model X coming out soon, which one would you choose? Have you had a chance to sample your Tesla Tequila yet? If so, how is it? I always miss the window to order one :(

Great review Mark. I got mine on the 28th of March last year and as you said, no maintenance except for rear tires. What is your efficiency after 8K miles? I am at 308 wH/mi with almost 17K miles on a performance.

Hey Marc. I’m in North Carolina and you sound like you’re from somewhere around here-not California! 😂 Ordered our Y a week ago Saturday! Do you recommend tinting the overhead roof glass? I’ve seen mixed comments on this on the web. Thanks!

HA! Well, I grew up in Atlanta, GA and lived there until I was 38, then moved to California. So my accent isn't going any where. :) We haven't tinted ours yet and we went through a summer last year with it. And it goes well over 100 here in the summer for many weeks. Will I tint it one day? Maybe... we haven't decided yet.

The back seat issue not aligning properly is an issue that can be fixed! I complained about mine incessantly after taking delivery… it took them a couple of months but they finally caved and fixed it for free. They replaced the entire “single” seat on the passenger side of the car and it immediately fixed the issue. They said it was a known issue and they fixed it in the newer seats. The mobile technician came out and replaced it and now my back seats align perfectly.

Ive asked about it many times and they say there is nothing they can do. I will ask again because it does bother me.

@@marc_benton give me your email and I’ll send you my “invoice” that shows they replaced my entire seat for free because of the alignment issue. Then you can send it to them and reference it.

Abstract Ocean... but recently, Tesla made them stop selling them so they may not have them any longer. You could also do vinyl letters.

No front bra/ paint protection and no mud guards? I guess there aren't many small rocks in Ca where you drive. Seems like a popular thing to do. But OK I see you've owned 6 of them and never had a problem

Maintenance and DIY/Customizations are totally different things lol. Maintenance is necessary and DIY stuff is optional.

Does the pano roof in the Y make it too hot or become annoying with no option to shade out the sun?

Not to us. And it gets very hot during the summer here in Central California. You could always tint it using a ceramic tint which would block most of the heat. They make it in clear and in various shades of tint.

What about tire rotations? After 8k you definitely should have had 1 already. I have 26k miles on my model y and I've done 3, due for a 4th soon.

I haven't rotated the tires yet but I will pretty soon. But I will do that myself, super easy.

@@marc_benton not as simple as a regular ice car though. You have to be careful of the lift points if you're doing it yourself due to the battery, plus of the fact that it weighs more than probably all ICE cars of its size.

I mean.. if you say so... But that does not look like 18% at all, that looks more like 35% maybe higher. The little quarter panel window looks closer to 18% although it looks a bit darker. With 18% you would not be able to see through both panes of windows like that. I have 18% on my back windows and I cannot see through them at all from a distance. If I walk up and cup my hands I can see inside, otherwise its you can't see in. In CA its actually illegal to tint your front windows, "most" shops will tint front windows with 35% as it still allows police to see in and "less" likely to get a ticket for it. I mean its CA, the sun kills us here. Always thought the tint law was kind of stupid for us. With good ceramic 35% tint though, it almost cuts the heat rejection to what you would get with 18%.

Not on this car but I love white seats in general but you MUST get them ceramic coated and then wipe them down weekly to keep them clean for the long term. If you wear blue jeans, you will get blue jean transfer if they are not ceramic coated. We had white seats on our Model X and I had them on my Performance Model 3. Just decided I didn't want to deal with the ceramic coating and wiping them down all the time so we go black on the Y.

Sad he has to say how much he loves his tesla and how it's not a deal breaker at least 5 times for every item he doesn't like about it just to fight off the spergs. Or maybes he's a tesla drone as well. Just wait for better tech. I'll still take my 600 miles per full and diesel over anything offered here.
