@@danielstehura9657 What stupid thinking. With vehicles shown in the video having ranges of 400km or so, this is all range that nearly everybody would need each day. As, do not forget, the EV driver would recharge the car overnight so there is another 400km available for the following morning. On any given typical working day, a driver would just not exceed 50km with their trip to work, then back home again.

Sure, let's be happy about cars that are not on the market yet. That Fisker looks amazing, but there is no way in hell it will sell for less than 45k, and even then, there won't be too many of them to choose from. Toyota is in a class of their own, but the same issues with production numbers applies to them too. Hell, you can't even find a decent number of PHEVs (those pesky Prime) in USA, and you think they'll have enough BEVs to cover the demand? Also, also, the price. That's the base model, the markup will be at least 10k, and that if you are lucky. Not sure why we look at prototypes and think the reality is going to be that rosy. Equinox? I'll wait to see if the batteries are OK. Ariya, (again, not yet available) has already increased the projected price to over 50k. Let's hope the dealer will allow people to have it at this price. ID.4 looks great, heard the software is a bit laggy and there is no regen. Great price though, but I heard it will be increased because inflation. Hopefully not too much. Skoda in USA? don't think so. Kia EV6 is a great car, but the price is at the same level with Tesla, when adding the extra features that makes it more modern. At the base price looks great, and I think it's already a big success in USA, along with its crooked twin, Ioniq 5. Availability is very low, so the dealers have a great time asking for huge markups. Kona EV is more of a small crossover (tested it myself) and for the price, it feels very cramped. Good option for people who have no other option, I wouldn't recommend. I'd rather look at the used market, you might find the odd Leaf or the e-Golf, not bad for under 20k. But for new cars, EV6 is my choice until Fisker is out and proves it can deliver at that price. If you're looking for ground clearance, ID.4 is only 6.3 inches, lower than Model Y 6.6. But at those prices, I'd rather wait for the Cybertruck. 50k for dual motor, and 16' ground clearance. Since we're talking about prototypes, I don't see why not.

I agree with everything you've said. Most of these cars are vaporware. MKBHD did a video on this topic. Most of these guys build one prototype, get a bunch of investor money and rarely actually start delivering the cars to the masses. In the US, the only new EV that I can think of that's actually delivering vehicles is the Rivian and they've DRASTICALLY increased prices, from a $70K pickup truck, for example, to one near $90K. And to include the rebate in the "price" is misleading, since the moment 200K cars are delivered, it goes away. Even Tesla struggles to deliver vehicles, never mind players that haven't delivered a single car yet. I won't hold my breath on a lot of these models ever showing up, never mind at the price they said they'd deliver them at.

@@thefix2573 Your judgement of bossman61 seems harsh. He did say if you drive more than 350 km/ day, which seems to recognise that some people do drive that much. In questioning who drives that much, he perhaps implies that most people do not. If you assume that distance being driven every day for 5 days a week and 48 weeks of the year, that = 84,000 km (well in excess of 50,000 miles). Apparently on average, private motorists in the UK cover closer to 8,000 miles. I guess that bossman61’s comments are largely addressing those people. Even if that average total was doubled to 16,000 miles a year - he is right that the Kona could easily achieve that, since it is possible to drive more than 270 miles a day without charging, even at legal speed limits. 😊😊

Why is 400 mile range the need? 2-3 years ago it was 250, and now that a huge % of ev's hit 250 range, that target has moved to 400 miles, with no real reason given. Who, regularly, drives more than 200 miles a day in their personal car???
@mistadj

@@sh969 it's very simple. My gas sucking suv does 400 on a full tank and take 5 min to fill up. If I have to spend 45 min charging just to get.. Maybe 100 miles.. That's not effective. Now... With that beigg said... I currently live overseas... So driving is not 5 min here or there where you only need to charge when you get home. Also, the more popular EVs get, there is more a chance of a charging station already taken... You know... For 45 min.

@sh969 2 года назад
45 minutes for 100 mile range? Yeah, if you're looking at ev's with technology from 5 years ago. But, my point wasn't even that. Do you regularly drive 400 miles a day? I don't and I live in the southeast of the US that has some of the longest commutes in the country. And still, no one I know drives 400 miles a day. Except maybe Uber drivers but I doubt that as 400 miles a day in our traffic would easily take 10 hours. And, since I don't max out the range on my ev every single day I charge at home. Where it takes approximately 5 seconds to plug in and 5 to unplug.

It is unlikely to become law due to politicians (supported by the oil and gas industry) who are opposed to helping mass EV adoption. The prices mentioned here are completely unrealistic. for example Megane entry price = 36000 and that with the 40kw batery and slow charging the model displayed = closer to 60.000€ so big bogus on this video. and shame on the industry for overpricing cars making them to expensive for normal working ppl This is the way forward 50K + for a car Hello bank can i lone 50K for a car??????? i only pay 1376€ for my house 684 for gas and electricity 78 for enternet 48 for my phone 30 for the water 18 for netflix 9 for television. and so on montly cost atm close to 2.000€ and now we going to have to lone for a car? I have been told a new EV named VinFast is a lot more affordable. There're 2 EV models coming out: VF8, a 5-seater SUV and VF9, a 7-seater SUV. With the battery leasing program, a VinFast car driver will never worry about the $23,000 bill to replace the battery, and all VinFast batteries will be appropriately recycled to safely protect the environment. Surprisingly, after the federal tax credits for EVs, VinFast VF8 costs only about $32,000, which is unbelievably cheap for a 5-seater electric SUV, and the 7-seater electric SUV VF9 is probably about $46,000 after the tax credits. Best of all, VinFast offers a limited warranty coverage of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, and this is the longest warranty coverage done by an EV maker. All of these truly set VinFast apart from other EV manufacturers. Still have no glue about VinFast? Just consider it as a "twin of BMW", literally. In fact, driving a VinFast car is like driving another BMW -- a luxury car but more affordable, and designed by Pininfarina!

Don't think you'll qualify for the $7500 tax credit since you don't own the battery. Believe the battery service with unlimited mileage is about $200/month. That's every month for as long as you own your car. So in 5 yrs. You've paid an extra $12,000.00 for battery rental. Don't see this as a good option at all.

The EV cars are definitely the future, but I think range and price are factors the manufacturers are going to have to address. I also concerned that a state like California will put a user tax on the vehicles, because they pay no gas taxes to maintain the roads and in a state like California that has high taxes, EV will cost more to operate than gas.
@theodorehaskins3756

I doubt that Fisker can deliver this car at under $40k, and all the vehicles mentioned here will be hard to get. I also ignore base price, as dealers will offer very few of them so that they can make a more substantial profit on cars loaded with extras. Most people who have ordered EVs have to wait months before they can actually buy them. Manufacturing EVs at scale is hard, especially for companies who have never done it before. Just ask Rivian! We can also expect that the early adopters will be saddled with recalls and other problems associated with all the challenges of producing EVs in this early phase. Who knows how many of these cars will be around 5 years from now? But I do like watching the videos and hoping that eventually we will make the transition away from ICE vehicles and begin to drive cars that will eliminate our need for fossil fuels.

Finally someone who understands the so called falsely promoted tax credit, not only they have to have tax liability of that amount to be offset with the "tax credit" they also would have to pay that tax liability during the tax year, so if they have tax liability of $7,500 and paid $6,000 through withholding then their allowed tax credit would only be $6,000. A lot of people are going to be shocked at the tax filing season. It's non-refundable credit people.
