I really need to quit being lazy and make more videos. What would yall like to see that is Tesla Model 3 / Solar / Powerwall related?
@liamh713
@liamh713 3 года назад
I'd love to see a video on installing in Florida specifically. The required liability insurance for large systems, how much do you get when selling to the grid, time of use rates, etc. I'm thinking about getting a solar system in central Florida and it's pretty hard to find specific details on a lot of that kind of stuff that isn't related to southern California.

I wish Tesla would allow folks to use the stored power in my Tesla's battery in conjunction with Power Walls. I charge my car to 80% daily and 90% before storms. Being able to tap into 60 to 70 kWh onto of the Power Walls would be a bonus.

Reach out to a few independent solar product resellers for details on Powerwalls without solar panels. There are a bunch of them in Florida that keep Powerwalls in stock and can sell them independently as needed. Buying directly from Tesla requires the package of batteries and panels, but independent resellers don't. Great video, my friend.
@jeremyjudkins
@jeremyjudkins 3 года назад
Thank you sir. Do the independent resellers add $$$ to the cost of the powerwalls? Or it’s the same price as from Tesla?
@TesLatino

Thanks for the talk J - watching and learning all I can before delivery of the cybertruck. Nice job on a couple of your vids. Experience from living on a sailing Catamaran for 2 years we had two windmills (good ones, not cheap) and 5 solar panels. Sorry people but wind energy is just not that reliable or strong enuf to make a whit of difference. If I was to do again it would be no windmills and an extra solar panel instead. Also there is a cost/benefit analysis on the tesla website that helps you figure out what size (how many panels) and how many power walls. It will not pay for itself in a year but over time it has a breakeven sweet spot .. maybe 10 years and it's paid for. Then your energy really is free, except for the $9.25.

@@jeremyjudkins I should've never doubted you, Jeremy! You definitely don't have cold water. Our water is really cold in the winter because of the snow melt that is flowing into the reservoir in Yosemite National Park. That is when lots of water heaters fail because of the extra cold water flowing into them.

Thanks for the video. I started looking into it. Honestly, it's difficult to find a cost effective solution that pays off in under 9 years. Tesla Solar Roof helps, but only if you *need* a new roof. The rising energy costs also help, although that's funny to say. Perhaps one day it will get down to ~5 years at which point it would be a no-brainer.

@jeremyjudkins
@jeremyjudkins 3 года назад
wind would be cool. for residential purposes I don't think my city would approve anything like that. they would have to be pretty big to be effective. also Tesla doesn't support wind energy to powerwalls that I know of.

@@jeremyjudkins Is your house near others ( was thinking of disturbing by sounds or sight ) , it would seem odd for authorities who encourage solar to not approve wind generation! Every bit of input would help I would have thought! Maybe look more into wind later on!

You would think Tesla would look after you having bought a car plus power wall. I was thinking though if you get a couple of batteries later on, at least they will be brand new and even may be an improved better design to add to your older ones! I still think you need wind added when it’s allowed! 💨💨💨

Thanks for your content! Next Tuesday is my final power on for my system! I ordered 16.32 kWs of panels, and 3 power walls Jan 18, 2021. So it did take a year and a week, in Phoenix, AZ. I did just confirm I can use the 26% credit for 21, and 22, with the forward ability of the credit. They were installed Dec 2021. I have two compliance EVs, a B-Class and a 500e, 2 A/C units, a pool pump, and my spouse bakes a lot. I sized our panels and power wall to be 90-95% self sufficient, and hoping it works out! My max summer bill was near $600, and my lowest around $250 in the winter. The loan for the solar system, per month, is cheaper than my averaged power bill, so it actually worked out nicely. Having "unlimited" and available "fuel" for our freezers, cars, pool, and A/C, is really reassuring.

How has the 16.32kw system worked out for you? I have similar usage as you and wondering if I should go with 16kw system or bigger/smaller.
@caseyat88
@caseyat88 2 года назад
@@AkimVoxMerger hey its been great so far! Not all my panels face south, some do face west, some east, and some north. I have a smaller footprint two story, so I had to cover my whole roof. I peaked around 12-13 kws, between May-June, with my highest production at 105 kWhs in a single day. My average so far is around 80 kWhs per day. In the spring, my power bill was only $28, and now in the summer, it's near $100, in addition to the solar loan. The 3 power walls kept us off the grid from March thru the beginning of June. Now in the hot, and cloudy monsoon season of summer in Arizona, we stay off grid from when the sun comes up, thru the afternoon, until about 10 pm, when we are back on the grid, tho at 6 cents a kWh. And still have 20% battery for emergencies. So over all, so far around 80-85% self sufficient, and near 90% total offset.

Hi, I recently installed tesla solar, I have a question regarding the app. In house usage page, at 12am shouldn’t it be showing 0 kWh, then the umber become larger as time goes by? My app at 12am showed 13,15,17kwh, I believe is incorrect. What’s your experience? Thanks

my house as a built heat in the HVAC. im not sure what its called. electric furnace? but I don't run it usually b/c I'm in Florida. And it uses A LOT of electricity compared to AC. We have these plug in heaters that we use when its kinda chilly in the morning. It's only that cold MAYBE a few weeks out of the year. Heating up one room that we are in is cheaper than the whole house.

I’ve already addressed this and cutting down trees for solar is beneficial. Solar panels result in more C02 removal than trees. Not to mention I purposely decided to leave the trees when my house was being built. Most of my neighbors have total empty lots. I have a whole other side lot FULL of pine trees.

Now that you got rid of all the shade.. Your home is gonna be using more air conditioning to keep the house cool and thus more electricity which is counter productive... Face what your not telling people... How much the system cost you per month vs what you would pay on the grid... You not saving anything. Your solar panels don't last more than 20 years....and your batteries or power wall might last 10 years... All batteries have a life span where they just completely die out.. People went through this already in the 70s and 80s with solar panels and nobody has them anymore as a result...
@jeremyjudkins
@jeremyjudkins 3 года назад
my solar panels will last 30 years. and the added sun on my roof is not going to require that much more AC. during the winter time when solar production was the least, the AC does not run much at all. Summer time the AC runs all the time anyway. its not going to be noticeable.
@jeremyjudkins
@jeremyjudkins 3 года назад
and I've already discussed this in previous videos. no point in discussing cost savings when I bought powerwalls. the totals make it extremely cost ineffective. that isn't the point. if I wanted to save money strictly I would have gone for solar only. solar + powerwall is a whole house back up solution that also takes care of your electric bill. so it doesn't cost as much. the other option is to buy a loud generator that needs to be serviced often, even if you don't use it, and you have to get gas, which is stinky and annoying and bad for the environment. I wouldn't charge my Tesla from a gas generator anyway. would be wildly inefficient.
