Sadly the price in my area somehow has doubled over the past few years. I had planned on $66,000 with a couple of power walls - somehow the exact same unit came up as $130,000! I think the "value" of that roof will go down significantly if Tesla is getting out of the solar business which a lot of people seem to believe is happening now. I love the idea of solar for anyone however it seems we've let the electric companies lower what they offer for solar homes giving back to the grid - some are now penalizing people who don't use enough to stay on the grid.
Some very good points here. 1 quality, quality improves value of the property now, and less maintainance costs helps too. 2 energy costs always go up. 3 aesthetics sell 4 people who can afford this make a lot of money, their time is at a premium, spending $10,000 on a back up system could pay off easy enough if it lines the one extra 100,000$ contract Is this solution right for everyone? No not yet, But there are definitely cases where it makes sense. And as always, the early adopters will drive the price down overtime and then hopefully we can all have something like this in the future .
