I was quoted last week on a 3,900 sqf roof at $270,000. includes 1 battery and 13kw amount of active tiles. A similar solar set up would be 38k. Though i would still need to install a new roof. Basically, what i need to figure out now is how much sale value the solar roof can add to a home. If it has a good mark up value, then the investment can be more appealing.
If you pay cash it should pay itself Bach in 5 to 7 years …. No more than that Numbers don’t make sense… Lease is worse …. But cost of laying out money that you could invest vs actual con ed bill is ridiculous . Some say payback of 12 years or even worse 25 years is crazy. I am green but not stupid
I just don't see the value proposition making any sense for most people this is a beyond luxury good right now and while its cool to have energy security in case of crisis those crisis are normally the type of thing that would damage a roof.
Great assessment. While a Tesla Solar Roof is a cool combination of new technology, sustainability, and great product design it is about twice as expensive as a brand new roof with a brand new solar system.
