I remember watching this live when I was in High School. Now, seven years later, I just picked up my Model Y performance this week and It's like a dream come true.
Same! I started with my Model S back in 2013, and have purchased every Tesla model since then! Currently my daily driver is a gray Model S, and my wife has a blue Model X! Love both of them!
@@lucianholbrook3966go for it bro it may not have the sound of the bmw but it will smoke the bmw and pretty much every other car out there on the road. It’s so easy to smoke everybody
Lamborghini, Ferari and others are making cars for tens of years (some more than 100) ... then here came Elon Musk with the Tesla and in less than 10 years he is mass producing the quickest car on Earth...plus with the most advanced Autopilot technology...with real time updates like no other car has...etc Not to mention SolarCity and SpaceX !!! What is this guy !?!y !?!
Not even sure why putting Lamborghini or Ferrari in there was relevant, neither has intentions of mass producing cars. As for it being the quickest car, this is true.... in a straight line. Any comparable ICE car would absolutely smoke its ass in any race that included corners, due to the tesla's incredible weight and inability to complete a circuit under full power. The straight line speed is due to its ability to output maximum power immediately as the power is requested. Now don't get me wrong, I think Tesla, SpaceX, and SolarCity are possibly the innovating companies of the future, and there's no question Elon Musk is a VERY intelligent person, and possibly the Henry Ford and Wright Brothers of our time. But his cars aren't going to beat a ICE in performance for a bit. Credit to him for his incredible ability to keep making innovations.
***** That test is artificial, if you had read what I wrote I explained why the Tesla isn't the "quickest car in the world" and why the 0-60 time is biased for EVs. In all reality the Tesla doesn't compare to most ICEs in a racing environment.
5 years passed and I have still dreamed of this car. It's nice to see a big progression on the same product. Improved built quality, increased range and acceleration, FSD beta, what an amazing time to be alive to see this kind of progression. As a software engineer, I am really enjoying the newest software updates, techs all the time. It would be really nice to be part of these breakthrough improvements.
i bought mine two days ago and I gotta say that this is the best car I have ever owned. I wish they didn't remove the silver color. That one looked amazing
Chendo Smit the fact that he works for tesla doesn't mean he was part of creating the car. He can just work in the store and be proud of being associated with the company. So I don't know why you said "no way". Of course, I don't know if he was involved in the making of the cars but not enough information was given for such a strong reaction.
Hey people who love Tesla, renewable clean energy, electric autonomous transport etc... Don't bother reading the comments. They are all about the constant 'wooo' sounds. To be honest, Tesla deserve it, the company is the most incredible on earth. You only have to do a bit of research. Their vision, values, their open sourcing of patents, their everything. Just incredible.
+Sam Baugh Can't wait to see what a logistical nightmare this will be when these cars start rolling off the line. I wonder if the servicing aspect can handle the extra load now? I wonder if there will be any issues? The Model S had tons of issues at the start and some owners aren't happy. Great company yes but people need to stop being sheep. I guarantee you this will be a nightmare upon release but I'll let the sheep realize that.
+nitedaze1000 You seriously bring up an article 14 months old, which calls the gigafactory "imaginary", $35000 cars "toys for the stupid rich" and iPad a "revolutionary product"? :-)
Rewatching this in 2022....after 2.5 years ownership of my Model3. Love it...this is where I fell in love....and then all over again after driving of for the first time. This car doesn't get old.
J Bo STFU, If you don’t like this comment just ignore it genuinely it doesn’t mean you need to disrespect a person with bad words Tesla is a Stunning Company with a great Innovation with a #Team of Brilliant and talented Engineers Learn to Appreciate the good work, if your not interested just ignore Man !!
21:10 "you did it!" couldn't have said it better, the Model 3 was something many thought was impossible, and yet, Elon managed to pull it off and change the transportation industry forever.
Years later, it's funny to notice the actual differences from these prototypes. They're few and subtle, so they clearly did deliver on it being close to a production version, unlike many concept cars from other OEMs.
I don't have enough money to buy a Tesla rn. But I really want to buy one in the future as my first car if possible. Alas, India, as always, likes to lag behind the rest of the world.
@@maldelicious5595 i mean we do have the tata nexon if you can consider that as a car. Fucking shitty ass tata wont even give us the USA price of jaguars dumbfucks
I used to doubt electric cars but after what Tesla has shown here with these cars, its mind blowing what future cars are going to be like. great job Tesla! I am now a big fan of these cars.
David Melchor and he's making them affordable has well he's like that guy that made cars affordable (I'm bad at history don't judge) but he's making electric cars which are even better affordable
You can tell he’s very shy in nature and he himself as even admitted it but kudos to this man for giving a shit about the next generation and actually doing smth about it and for him to do this presentation in his own way so he manages to calm down the nerves, is very admirable
It's what business should be. Some of the profit from model X and S went to wages and physical expansion (factories) but most went into development of future cars. However you look at Elon, it's hard not to respect him.
Me! Incredible how much the feel of tesla has changed. It truly was hoity-toity back in 2016 and 3 marked a massive shift towards the common vehicle buyer.... with Cybertruck cementing the move.
+Renaud Kobrynski You have a point, maybe we could have solar powered cars one day. Electric is much better than current gasoline cars in terms of environmental impact though.
Well, I reckon, solar panels can easily be built into car roofs. Perhaps we could see that very soon in Tesla models. What's more appalling is that some people still see climate change as a hoax. Wonder what would it take for them to notice the imminent threat it poses to us.
Thank you Elon Musk and the people at Tesla and SpaceX for making such great vehicles and paving way for a new generation and breakthrough in science, technology and our environment
Lets not start this battery vs environment bs again. Still the car is produced for the rich and not the first of its kind. Ill pass on the praise of tesla thanks.
Elon: here is model 3 Crowd: rheeee rheeeeee Elon: the building is on fire Crowd: rheeee rheeee Elon: no, seriously, you will all die Crowd: rheeeee rheee
I'm awe-struck by this. We're a long way away from completely replacing internal combustion engines, but this is the first step toward undoing the damage we've caused to the Earth. It's an exciting time to be alive.
Tesla's awesome, but you can go ahead and give up if you think you could kill off the ICE. Many people including me won't allow that to happen. There's more damage to worry about than CO2 such as damage by the president.
ICE's are NOT responsible for global warming. It's about time someone kills that hoax. What EV's are gonna do, is to end greed from oil companies, and lower the death rate from toxic gasses in towns.
What is up with the overly enthusiastic crowd? "Good morning" WOOOHHHH. "It will have four wheels" WOOOOHHHHH "It will have a steering wheel" WOOOOOHHHH "I showered this morning" WOOOOOOHHH "I had cereal for breakfast" WOOOOOOOHHHH
In September 2021 the model 3 was not just the best selling EV in the UK, it was actually the best selling Car in the UK. It outsold the VW Golf, and the BMW 3 series, which have always been our best selling cars. Don’t know about in 3-5 years Tesla becoming the biggest car manufacturer in the World, it could be quicker than that at this rate.
I'm reading Elon's biography right now. Really interesting troubled man, and a lot of what he does makes so much more sense. This presentation was referenced in the book so it's really interesting to rewatch it with all the context of what was going on in his head at the time.
I remember watching this event live in the middle of the night here in Europe. Dreaming about owning a Tesla some day, and today I have a Model 3. That is crazy. Driving the car is so spectacular and the minimalistic design with the “tablet” is just so great. The tech is far superior to other cars I have driven. I absolutely love driving my car, never ever thought I would like a car so much. Previously a car for me was just to get from A to B. I can never go back to none electric, that is for sure, and I am pretty sure my next car will also be a Tesla.
Everybody was so excited and he was dying inside. He had just broke up with his girlfriend and it killed him. He talked about how difficult it was to go through with the presentation, in the rolling stones interview.
The fact that I’m here 4 years later, cuz Y not, I plan on buying a model 3 but the autopilot feature is now 10.000 dollars 😭😭😭. Elon my guy what the heck bruh
I've had my Model 3 LR RWD for 4 years and 85,000 miles, it's been a great car. I've run it up to 140 on open highways several times. It runs 13.40s at 105 in the 1/4 mile.
If you look at the gray model 3 it looked like they were thinking of using the tesla model s door handles for the model 3 wondered if they would have been better than the redesign?
It was late 31st March in the US. I think it was April 1st in Europe where I watched from - and even if not, it certainly would've been in Australia. Even though I'm not sure Elon was referring to that when he said "somewhere". I remember thinking he just meant a premature April fools joke.
