Tessa Violet performs a live acoustic set in WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio in Boston. Tessa began writing songs after a friend left his guitar in her car when she was 23. She learned the chords to her favorite songs and before long began writing original songs. Tessa is originally from Ashland, Oregon and currently resides in Los Angeles.
This performance was recorded August 9, 2019.

Bad Ideas (the album) has some of my favorite production ever, but I really love how well these stripped-down performances showcase just how good the songwriting is at its core, even without all the bells and whistles to go along with it.

It's definitely the most intimate performance video of Tessa out there (and I've seen most of them). It's almost like being in the same room (which is worth being in if she's touring near you especially if Dante and Jess are there too). Somebody commented "Yikes" was his favourite Tessa lyric. I think " I don't want to keep on crying if I'm the only one" is mine. It encapsulates that strained relationship emotion so well. I've heard her asked what lyrics of hers she likes best in interviews "Yikes" and my choice didn't feature though.

She draws from the emotion behind everything she sings; like she is pouring her heart out in an intimate conversation, and not just reciting a song for the thousandth time. Hearing the tears in her voice forces anyone listening to share that emotion as it relates to them. More than just talent, she has a gift. Her modesty only adds to the allure.

Tessa, Ya have entered the world of pop-star-dom ~ fer sure. In saying that, the songs behind it all are REALLY well written. This illustrates it all ~ boiled down.: Crush, Games, Words aren't enough, Crush, etc. ~ Seemingly upbeat + deceivingly minor-key/chord vibe/super-cool beatles-esque turns-of-phrase + melodies. Keep on keepin' on...it's some powerful $Hit!
