I'm finding more and more that personality really comes in to play. Even the really good pairs that qualify for the most visible competitions just can't make the podium if there is friction and personalities are out of sync. They really need to compliment one another. They need to become as one; soul mates. It's not enough to just nail down technical and have great choreography. Like Marina explained the differences between Virtue/Moir and White/Davis style and why each are at their top; because they know who they are together and they each do it fantastically.
"... and how can Scott and Tessa hold on to their title with their competitors *literally* nipping at their heels ..." Hmm, throw them a sandwich maybe? Should hold them over 'til dinner.
who knows maybe they are keeping it low-key and might tie the knot after they retire. they probably don't want to take a risk and ruin what they already have, especially when the olympics are just around the corner, which'll probably be their last.
