Performance of TesseracT's 'King' from the album 'Sonder' by Amos Williams. Featuring the Kiesel AW5 Vader, and Neural DSPs Darkglass Ultra plug in. Kiesel AW5 Vader: www.kieselguitars.com/catalog...
These playthroughs always make me appreciate the band even more, sometimes you don't get to hear certain intricacies when listening to the album as a whole. Thank you for uploading, Amos & Team!
I got so used to hearing this version that whenever I hear the album version now it sounds so... thin. Wonderful playing, these basslines are incredible.
What I appreciate is that he is so pronounced in all the mixes I've heard so far. As a bass player, I have such a difficult time doing this and trying to push through the mixes in different styles of music.
Seeing Amos play through this is like a work of art all by itself. So many different styles and skills, all perfectly meshed with the rest of the band. The harmonizing that he does with the singer in the middle of the song (while still playing a "normal" bassline at the same time) is so beautiful. This dude is off the chain. Cheers.
Man, why are all my favorite bassists from the UK? Justin Chancellor, Nolly, Amos, Jon Stockman (he's an Aussie, but still...) Love the way you play Amos!
funnily enough this question has been in my head far too long. Probably not my absolute favorite (still a big Ryan Martinie fan) but if i did a top 10 of bass players, 80% of them would be british. In fact i got into bass because of a british player (lemmy). Maybe there's something in that tea that makes good bass players who knows lmao
Saw this video when it came out and it really inspired me. Today I bought my first 5 string bass after only a month playing and I just finished learning the intro. Feels like a nice full circle moment.
I enjoyed the visual style of the video while you played through. Dunno, just felt like good aesthetics that complimented both the performance and music.
Sweet minimalist aesthetics. Crisp, perfect, production. You probably put a lot of effort and top-end gear into this. I already was a fan, now I'm even more impressed!
Man, the construction of #Tesseract riffs are brilliantly written in the way that each section flows almost overlaps seamlessly to the next section and they are my favorite band of all time because of that and they’re genuinely the most talented, high-level songwriters to date 🤷🏽♂️ TesseracT forever dude 🤘🏽
Like so many of us, ive been learning this song. Im actually playing it on a fretless, and lemme tell ya, the octave slides are *amazing* on a fretless bass. Im definitely recording a cover once i get the song down.
Have been playing this song since it came out and it is by far my favourite. Just got schooled by the master!! My hamfisted version may play the rough notes but the intricacies that are included in this are just insane. I especially love the cadence of the final section with the three fingers. Those bends...holy wow they are aggressive it's not until you listen to the playthrough that you see that these parts are driving the song. This is why Amos is my favourite bass player ever. Thankyou mate and I cannot wait for the day I can finally see this all live.
Wasn't a fan of the band and I'm a guitar player. Even still, I have to thank the RU-vid recommendations for this because your tone, playing and camera work is insane 🤘🤘🤘
Dude your playing is so great and unique, I cant quite put my finger on it but it's just so smooth. Like the way you move your hand, and your fingers just kind of follow it slightly behind instead of them staying stiff with your hand. Keep grooving \m/
Wow man, this is one of my absolute favorite bass parts. Had a lot of fun learning it myself by watching this, just wish I had better slapping technique! Peace man, always looking forward to hearing more from you / Tesseract.
The first second it started playing I had pause and re-evaluate what I am just about to witness. This bass tone is the mightiest thing I have ever heard.
Amos, I love you man! You and Jay have taught me how to play more "efficiently" ... less can be more. I don't mean that as a backhanded complement, but just, yeah, trying to play in a modern progressive metal world is hard. But anyway, "King" is still in my top 5 best songs ever written. And performed. I've watched so many but my fav is the Bloodstock 2019 video. Much love from WV - USA ....hope to see yall soon!!!
Awesome playing Amos. that Kiesel bass rocks! Cant wait to see you guys again live. The new CD is great but just too short. Hoping next one will be MUCH longer.
