From what I gather the song is about things or people in life that keep you down and the struggles that come along with it, but then becoming a new person from the experiences better and stronger in the process.
I believe it's examples of differing but similar human perspectives. Sonder means to realize that every human being you come in contact with is living their own complex lives. Facing struggles, etc.
Daryl Smith I highly doubt the patriarchy is even real. Men and WOMEN in the political atmosphere are fucking all of us. That's a myth put out by the hard left. Same with White Privilege.
I feel like this was at least somewhat inspired by Gregory Crewdson, a large-format photographer whose photos have a similar aspect ratio. The shot of the husband and wife separated in different rooms at 2:09 is especially reminiscent of Crewdson's style. His photos have the same somber feeling with surreal or unnatural elements mixed in.
although somewhat disappointed with the overall length of the album (seems more like an EP than a full album), this track is a masterpiece and represents some of their best work.
One day I will stand on the same stage with you guys, my music fits just perfectly as support act. I'm building my live set for said purpose... a dream. Love yall.
You died within me The boatmen came to sail me down the river Bind me up with visions of a blind man I operate this way Turn nothing into gold Death on such an ugly day You dine like a king on top of the world You show us all That forgiveness is the weakest call And now revenge Against that grudge inside your tiny head Remove the crown of absolution Let the retribution fly The king has all the king has all But words can kill and maim and take their toll And you massacre my dreams at night And eat away at every thought Until we take control The king has all totalitarian and carnivore Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground Until it's safe to breathe and coexist again Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground Until it's safe to live and coexist again They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you But the sun always shines for you They're taking away the freedom to be just you You'd kill to find me But the crown above my head is deadly They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you
The song is amazing but can we have less story/actor based music videos and more of you guys doing your thang? Anyone who has seen you live will attest to how transfixing the whole experience is.
Звук на высоте! Но, на мой взгляд, слишком все сложно. С их опытом и несколькими альбомами за плечами им уже можно делать более простые и более качовые вещи. Видео вообще никаких эмоций не вызвало(( никак с музыкой не связано
Love the song, Who is that guy? or what does he represent? a witch or maybe Jesus? or like idk "Father earth?" Lol. I would love to know because the whole hood up and under the tree gives with witchcraft vibes for some reason I'm not sure?
Tamsyn Forlong I thought of Jesus too... Jesus was welcomed with palm trees in Jerusalem before he was betrayed and killed. But idk if that’s relevant to the song. I did read an interview that said they wanted to explore a luminary figure as a beacon of hope and escape for the characters. So who knows
Axel Bopp lol the intro instantly reminds me of nocturne. Has same low guitar feel. Pretty unoriginal for them. They create stuff like that all day. Boring
Gabriel Cabana play the intros side by side, back to back, and let me know what you think. The similarity is certainly striking to a trained ear, maybe you’re not there yet though
Altered State my favorite album from them, but the way i'm seeing it now is they are evolving their sound, it may not be as technical as before but it seems to be changing every album. In my eyes that is a great thing, we will always get new songs that sound different, rather than getting album after album of the same sound and it get stale.
1,000 of these views are my own doing, potentially. Nothing but gratitude is enough to express how I feel about this song. Thank you all for your art, and expression. I appreciate you.
Dude, You obviously haven't heard enough of Daniel Tompkins if you think he "sucks". Check out the rest of the album and Polaris and his various side projects and bands like Skyharbor, In Colour, Zeta, and Black Moth White Butterfly.
