@@doratt5215 Have a mechanic check it out 1st. Old cars need work always. Make sure the frame is solid and didn’t come from a state that put a lot of salt on the road or didn’t drive it in winter months. Low miles could be an odometer turnover. Be smart about it.

I had a 71 , 400 small block ,black on black ! Diamond tuck in roll seats , swivel bucket seats. Road like a Cadillac at 100 miles hour !! Pured like a kitten with a thump to it lol . Wife was pregnant with my baby girl ,so had to sell her . That car never once left me on side of road . It was a good dream while it lasted.

The ladder bars won't effect the ride. It definitely has air shocks under the rear. Ladder bars only prevent axle rotation when planting HP to the asphalt.

I own a 70 MC with a stock unmolested 350ci small block myself. 125,000 original miles. When I retired I made it my everyday driver…. I’ll never drive any other car and when it does wear out I’ll buy another one just like it. Awesome ride!

Exactly! I was floored when I found out how light they are! I always assumed because of their size they weighed a lot, but nope. About 3,500 lbs with the small block. 👍

Bouncy in back has what appear traction bars to prevent axel wrap. Used for drag racing. Nice looking car , looks like it needs tiding up.

As a teen in 1981 I had a light blue 1970 like this one and blew it up trying to make it up an ice-covered hill then left it on the side of the road for the State to pick up, yep sad to say I was a dumb kid.

My first car was a 70 Monte Carlo. Gold with a black top. My father bought it new and kept it until I got my license. I loved that thing right up until the day it caught on fire and burned up on the side of the road. I don't know what happened to it, but I was driving it down the road one day and it suddenly shut off and black smoke started pouring out from under the hood and that was it.

Good looking car, like the color, sounds good, looks clean, hey the horn works, sometimes bad ground on the sending unit will make them read wrong , gas gauge usually not hard to fix just aggravating, it won't last long, I just finished building a garage and hopefully can get a car in the near future, I am watching your videos and what you get in, maybe we can do business one day

That’s a sweet Monte. That body style was my favorite. Probably just needs rear shocks. I get rid of air shocks. I hate ladder bars. I put a new sender in my tank on my 70 Malibu because my gas gauge didn’t work. Coincidentally it’s same color as this Monte.

1970 Monte Carlo SS 454 had the T-400/LS-6 Floor Shift (looked like the same one that came in your Buick GS 350/400/455 )

The LS6 never made it into a Monte. The 454s were LS5. I have one now.. Had another one. The Buick shifter looks similar to the Chevrolet above the console, but they are different. I have both.

VERY CORRECT BUT: The high-performance LS6 454 equipped with a four-barrel carb had an 11.25-to-1 compression ratio and wielded/had 450 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque in 1970. Chevy slightly detuned the 1971 version to generate 425 horsepower and 475 foot-pounds of torque.

@@danjanes8689 Gen II Monte Carlo only had the LS-5 Option (1973 Monte Carlo S) 1974 had that same LS-5 4bbl that had a 145 Horsepower (gas crunch of 74 aka Fuel Crisis)

That Monte Carlo should be like a Cadillac, but those traction bars are messing things up. The rear suspension is way too tight, but I notice a few times from slow speeds the front rises a fair amount. I bet that car with slicks will launch!!! It looks pretty decent, but if there are gremlins,,,,,,,, gasoline gremlins,,,,,, hahaha.

It looks like it has air shocks because when you pulled the license plate down you can see the air valve stem inlet on the right side behind the license plate and I can see an Air line hanging down beautiful car I always did like the 70 and 71 montes I'd rather have the 454 in it though your family has the best muscle cars around
