I have one and it's great on the road. Don't love the fact that it's FWD if in 2WD, but other than that, it's a win. I had a Hard Rock Rubicon 4D and this is so much more comfortable to drive on the road. Handling is great and with the 9 speed, it's quick for what it is powered. Good Gas Mileage and very well made inside and out. Beautiful Leather seats. I actually like the push button transmission after getting used to it. I use this primarily as my work vehicle, I travel a lot for work and have to drive in sun or snow. I like this better in the snow than my Sierra. I have used it to tow large SXSs often and it's great for towing. I will upgrade to a more aggressive tire when I change them most likely, but these are pretty aggressive for what it is. It's not a rock crawler, but it does not ride like one either, it's got a luxury ride quality that is quite and precise. My wife had a 4 runner and now has a Durango. I would take this over the Durango off road and as far as comfort and style. However, I do like the drive system of the Durango better. It is hands down better on the road than the 4 runner all day long. Sure, it would not beat it off road, but hey, Most people buying these are like me and going to use them on the road up until they have to use them off road.
I am roughly the same size as you and I was comfortable. I sat with the seat in its lowest position and I had plenty of headroom and the seats felt great.
As I'll always mention, "your mileage may vary." See if your local dealer has one, will let you take it for an extended test drive, and feel it out. While it may fit you, physically, it might not be a fit for you or your family.
I think this is an extremely underrated vehicle. This review shows that no, it isn’t a rock crawler, but it’ll do what 90% of people need. I do a lot of camping, tailgating in muddy lots, and the payload and AT tires are perfect for that. I had someone tell me I should’ve bought a 4Runner if I wanted All Terrain. I told them I have no intention of rockcrawling, just wanted a vehicle that could get me to my campsite carrying all the gear I want, yet still drive like a champ with great acceleration and mpg on the highway. Also, find me another vehicle this size that has over 1500 lbs of payload capacity. That’s not far off from a Yukon or Tahoe.
I wanted a rav4 but interior needs update not just outside even new santa fe looks better hyundai fix burning problems toyota doesn't why because they are reliable and people will buy them even no new interior greedy bastards if you ask me
The low gear selector is something they did not care about because soccer mom's and dads who can not go anywhere anymore will be driving. We have the paddle shifters on our Subaru and my wife has no idea how to use them. I use them every time when driving in the mountains.
I see the biggest problem in this vehicle being the fact that it's derived from an FWD platform. If it happens running gear of the Durango with all wheel drive capability and the bigger three row interior as GMC is built, it could be brilliant. But as it is that front overhang kind of prevents a good angle of attack and really limits the capability to handle anything other than fairly sedate trails. Still though I find some interest in it. I wish it had a small V8 but that's just a sign of the times. Thing is my driving is 99% on pavement anyway but I do occasionally have to deal with dirt mud and snow. Sometimes you can send. But rarely enough but it's hard to justify a lifted pickup. I just see this as being a case of it is what it is. A front wheel drive minivan with a long hood and shortened passenger compartment to be able to call it an SUV. And an option package that's really geared marked towards appearance than anything else but with just enough added functionality that you know I might be better than some of its competition. after sitting in them both I am actually kind of disappointed in the Blazer cuz I'd rather have two rows anyway I don't have enough people to haul around 3 rows all the time. Grand Cherokees kind of interest me but again the lack of a V8 in the current year kind of softens my interest. Now if they had built this as a two or three row SUV on a shortened version of the Silverado chassis that would be a no-brainer I would buy it in a heartbeat. Especially if they offer it with the 5.3 or the 3 l diesel. As it is I'll make a firm consideration and it's definitely on the short list for my next purchase but I'm not flying out the door to go grab one now.
Love the shift buttons, there is storage space under the console that would not be there if there was a standard gear shift. The manual shift buttons work just fine as well, I have short arms and no issues with the manual shift +/ - If you want a real off road vehicle you need to get a Yamaha YXZ. It will blow the doors off of any full size off-road vehicle pickup or jeep.
Thanks. I've been a bit radio silent thanks to lack of primary work. I'll have something coming soon on the eBike Tracker project as I finally have been able to get some parts in for that project.
@@I90west All good ! Yeah Technology pkg , couldn't be happier ! Great tech, comfort, power. At 3000mi range , taken few trips seeing 25-27mpg, also towing my sxs with AC seeing 17mpg. 9spd trans is smooth 👌Happy for the cooling seats with our heat wave, to remote start auto cools cabin does wonders! Enjoy !
Its a vehicle designed to basically look good and do very limited off reading. Personal experience has shown me this is a great vehicle. I also have ro say while its a change, the gear selector is very easy to get used to and I appreciate the console space.
