I will be working on pulling a stuck pilot bearing. the test fitting the CD009 from a Nissan 350z into the third gen Camaro. I will also be cutting the floor open for access to the six speed shifter. location. I will also have to hammer the floor to make more clearance for the transmission.

Can i ask why not a TKX 5 speed over the cdoo9 please
@TJsCustoms
@TJsCustoms 5 месяцев назад
Did you use an ls1 throw out bearing? Or the cd009 throw out bearing?
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel 5 месяцев назад
It's an adapter throw out bearing from Collins Performance Technologies. It's like $80 or at least a couple years ago. It's a roller bearing and really nice but in my opinion a little pricey. They call it the LSX throw out bearing. Hope this helps.

What trans mount and cross member are you using?
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel 5 месяцев назад
I ended up using the Hooker Blackheart with an Energy Suspension polyurethane mount. I tried to use the UMI one but it wasn't working very well and had no clearance for exhaust.

Dont push your trans so high it makes you engine nose down. It could make oiling problems. Good job

It doesn't sit any different. This transmission just doesn't fit in the tunnel. At some point I rechecked it for pinion angle! And it was a couple hundredths off from where it started. Thanks and I appreciate you watching and commenting it really does help the channel.

Cant wait to see how this turns out, I’ll definitely be copying you after your done, did u use ict billet motor mount plates on your ls swap? Just wondering if your engine is in the same place as mine
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel Год назад
I used a knock off of their plates. I can't remember the name I bought them several years ago for a different project but never built it.

What energy suspension part # did you use for the cd009?
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel 7 месяцев назад
The transmission mount is ENS -3-1108G. I'm not sure which transmission cross member I had in this video. However the only one that gives any room for exhaust is the Hooker Blackheart. Just a little heads up and good luck with your project.

whats the difference in slide hammering a crank rearwards. Then just hitting it forwards....🤔

What cross member is that? I currently have a umi one for the th400 in my third gen.
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel 8 месяцев назад
The Hooker Blackheart, It fits perfectly. It's not cheap but it was well worth it. Depending on the transmission you may need to get an adapter. Their website can give you all the part numbers.

@@ForsakenSteel thanks man that’s awesome!!! I was figuring there had to be a big company making something essentially plug n play like this since there’s like 3 options for a manual transmission swap in our third gens!

No idea what to do for that pilot bearing I was gonna say hire some one that has a shop to come over and remove it and show you how they do it but I dunno

@@ForsakenSteel Awesome I will look them up, I am looking to put one in my 1500 I am trying to figure out if I can modify and extend the shifter and it work properly, The only thing I am worried about is reverse, I know the factory shifter you have to push down, Or wondering if that is just for safety and it can be bypassed
@ForsakenSteel
@ForsakenSteel Год назад
I originally bought a different shifter that moved the shifter forward but it just wasn't enough in this car. It's a different brand. It wasn't built nearly as well. As far as reverse lockout I'm not sure about the original shifter but the aftermarket one's look like they could be left off.

Great video man. Really like the floor Jack it’s very nice. I’m not sure if you ever heard of it and it might sound crazy but use sandwich bread to remove pilot bearing, I know it crazy but look it up on RU-vid on videos removing pilot bearing with bread. I’ve seen it done and Puddin’s Fab shop did it a few months ago and it it works. Glad to see you feeling better. 👍😎✌️

I actually tried the bread method but it didn't work. I have fallen in love with the new jack. I'm not sure how I've made it this long without one. Hope you have a great week.

I personally like the- fill the cavity with grease and drive a dowel into the grease trick myself. Pretty much works every time for the stubborn ones.
@ForsakenSteel

I have also thought about trying this. I still might before I grind it out. This is the most stuck one I have ever seen.
@johndishong5083
@johndishong5083 Год назад
ls motors have a plug right behind the pilot. If you pack it with grease or bread you take a chance of driving that plug into an oil galley. Don't ask how i know. Use a dremmel.

@@johndishong5083 Thanks for that info- guess i have been lucky up till now. I guess Ill have to stop using that trick on these engines. My LT5 has a similar plug in the back of the crank.
