Man I wish I can get one of them I'm still rocking the 08 Yamaha Raptor 250 I probably had mine now for 6 years but never gave me any problems just regular maintenance and it runs like a champ. Yamaha makes some good machines my next investment is probably gonna be this bike or the 700R I need something that runs a little cooler for long all day riding my 250 with the air and oil cooler throws some heat if you're not flying around riding.
I went looking for a new sport quad after getting sick of riding a giant ship. Ended up with a old Polaris scrambler 400 2 stroke. No it’s not exactly a sport but it’s not a giant utility either. And that 2 stroke engine 😍😍😍. Seriously they need to bring back the 2 strokes!! That 400 2 stroke is more fun than anything I ever threw a leg over!! Only a old scrambler gives you the blast of a 2 stroke and 4x4 in the same package 👍🏼
Was this bike in the Vid using a power commander? Cause my 2014 doesn't run this good! The pipe glows red and sputters on the bottom end and dies! Thanks Yamaha!
MrSnowrocks Sure, there are many ways to make money without company sponsorship. If Yamaha paid them to produce this video then I want to know that, it makes a difference in how I take the advice.
I have had Yamahas all my life and so has my family. I have tried other names (Honda and Suzuki mostly) and in all honesty, Yamaha's engineering is unmatched by anyone else. serious quality in their machines and will always continue to buy Yamaha products. I realize this response may sound like I have been paid by them too lol but I can assure you I have not, I am a real customer. hope this helps :)
If we can get our hands on one, I would love to get it out to the local track and rip it for an entire day. That would be amazing. Hang on a sec... gonna make a call to Yamaha.
My buddy had an 09 YFZ 450R SE and that thing was incredible. The only thing I wish they did different was the clutch and maybe make the ride a little more soft. And here it is.... hhahah Time to get a YFZ i think.
The YFZ is one awesome atv. When you say it's the best suspension you tried on a 450 racing ATV, it means that you tried and tested the Evol Fox suspension on a 2014 DS 450MX and came to the conclusion that the Yamaha was superior?
Yamaha has great power but reliability sucks. both yamaha's I had otto end blew. Had plenty of Hondas an never had a problem and had them way longer than the yamahas I've had. My 2013 yfz450r bottom end only lasted like 9 months. Now gotta do a rebuild after paying all that money to buy the damn thing.
Why not let people know about having to buy a fuel tuner to make it run like it should? Cause if you don't buy one you get stalling and "the bog." Look it up if you don't believe me.
I need some advice on my yfz 450? think maybe you might be able to help I've done a huge over hail on it and having a problem I can't get my headlights to work and haven't been able to get spark could this be because I've removed my safety tether? and haven't done it properly because I have no idea what to do with the remaining wires going to harness? am I in the right direction?
So every year or at least every model we get to see these preview and hype videos. How aboot we get some videos or reviews on how the prior years advancements truly held up. All this presentation aboot the new stuff and how its the best im getting bored with. I'd like to see some promoting of old models for the used market so people can gauge what brand truly holds up. I can never find anything official online in this area. And forums are clouded with opinions not facts.
That's a cool video. I just built my first Yfz 450. It would mean a lot if you would check it out and tell me what you think I think it came out pretty good
im around the same height and 14 years old but i ride a arctic cat dvx 300 and its perfect now and i have a good bit of room to grow in to it i did have a raptor at one point and it fit just fine but the riding i do on my trails i need reverse and the raptor dosen't have that i hope this answers your question
I'm wondering if the raptor 250 would be a good fit for me; I;m 5"7', and growing fast, I'm 13yrs old,an experienced rider in ATV's, and the number one place I ride is little sahara in OK. Please answer my question!
get a honda 400ex quad..best quad ever ive had one for 10 years and it hasnt broke down on me once..just maintain it well and it will last you forever....dont get a raptor 250 youll get bored of it easy...
a slipper clutch also means you cant push start it so when your valves start to go its gonna be even harder to start. plus who uses the clutch past the gate drop anyways??
***** if you shift it right and you aren't forcing it you can shift without the clutch. never seen any crazy transmission problems from it, ever. But, if you're RPM's are all wrong and you are having to jam it through gears hard - well then of course it will tear it up... don't do that. :]
Awesome video! I just bought my son a 2013 Raptor 250 yesterday. I've always been a big Honda fan until getting and ridding this Raptor. It's been YEARS like 15 plus since I've owned a ATV and I can honestly say that Yamaha is way over-the-top than Honda today. Now I've got to go get me one. Lol. I've been looking at the 2014 Raptor 750. Is the Raptor as good as this 450R? Which one would you recommend for the money? Thanks!
@Xbox One - Dude, you tell me why in the World would any one buy a 10 year old a 450.?. LOL. A 250 is PLENTY big enough for him and me to at that. But when and if he does out grow it I will get him a 450 or 700. That's why I didn't get him a 90 or 125 size. But thanks for the comment! 👍
Chad Cole Oh, my bad i was thinking of something else for some reason but yes a 700 is pefect for you, and I glanced at your profile pic and it looked like your son was older than 10, but yes for right now thats perfect for him.
This is normal for the YFZ. It uses a pretty thin walled header stock and they do tend to run lean from the factory. It's not going to hurt anything, I bought my 09 off the show room floor and it did the same thing.
+Dirt Trax Television it would be great I really like the way you talk about the machines I've had my yfz for 2 years I haven't done anything to suspension I don't know what effects low/high speed compression and dampening thank for your guys reviews
im 12 and 5'3 i have a raptor 250, if your gonna race id get a 250 because u literally have to be 13 or older to race a 250 so id get one to race. but if u want to just ride around and ur 5'7 id get a 350 and use the throttle limiter
Depends all on where you ride. Tracks or trails? Sand dunes or deep woods? I have owned all three of the top Yamaha bikes, Grizzly 700 eps, Raptor 700le and yfr450r. Tracks ,full out racing and bombing fire roads = The 450 all the way ,with its flatter more stable cornering , air born friendly flight , race tuned suspension . 2wd friendly trails , hooning in fields , tighter woods trails on the east coast , dunes (if you plan to mod it)= Raptor 700 with reverse , softer suspension and torquey motor and narrow width and huge HP potential when modded for dune riding. Everything else = Grizzly 700 , casual riding for comfort, mud , rock climbing, work, snow, and ect
There is a huge difference do your research, not that hard to figure out, ones built for trials and the other is built for racing. And the raptor is slow and heavy compared to the yfz.
fulldisclosure hour Yfz is boss. i drag mine at the little sahara and kicked my friends modded 660 raptor and all my yfz has is a yomushura exhaust. i also raced my friends warrior that he races, i gave him a 3 sec headstart and waxed his ass. ALL IN ALL, YFZ is SUCH a better bike than any other.
I don't get Yamaha... why do all that work to the dirt bike 450 and not to the quad... I mean come on that's bs I ride both and so many ppl hate on ppl that ride quads
+Gohan Toledo now if you can only choose one bike or quad. than why not look at the YZ250 as it will have about the same power as the YZF450r (I have both)
