Thanks so much for waiting and watching. We've got lots more in the works. and will try to get them out a little faster. We've been busy splitting out our ATV and UTV websites and channels.
Yeah you bet! I appreciate the fact that you guys still put a lot into your sport quad reviews, and I can't tell you how many times I've watched the 450 MX shootout just because of how much information is there. It'd be cool to see an LTR build, heck I've got one in my garage you can test haha
I have a 2014 yfz450r have the same set up beside have full set of nerf bars and beadlocks other them that same quad and does very well placed this year at nationals 10th Over all on stock suspension A+ to the 2014
its come a long way since my 05 even it was awesome then. Broke the frame though, rear shock came up through the seat and it was just after warrenty. Yamaha still covered it for me! Id buy a new one in a heart beat if my back could handle it! Great video!
Haspin is my favorite place to ride! 100's of miles of trails, a motorcross track, an oval track and a supercross track, oh and a drag strip, you can't get any better!
could you guys do a budget second hand quad bike project. because a lot of people are looking to get into quad racing but can't afford a brand new bike. cheers
What the request for a lot of projects like this, we wonder how many of our viewers would be willing to join a Patreon account for our channel to help funded the purchasing of these used machines for us to build?
So what about in 2006 when Suzuki released the ltr? It came with wider a arms and fuel injection. Plus to get 7 more horse out of it all you had to do was buy a Yoshimura cherry bomb($30) Remove the airbox lid and remove the baffle out of the exhaust. Then all you had to do was throw a set of nerfs on there and a tether and there you go. The Suzuki was also quite a bit cheaper than the yfz. New ltrs around here were around the $7200 whereas the Yamaha was closer to $8000. So for $7700 your quad was ready to win. You guys never stated how much you actually put into the quad. I understand it may be because of fluctuating prices due to location. I'm not trying to start any fights or anything like that just bringing up a point. Also look at it this way, you have to pay more for the gytr stuff and the r version of the x where Suzuki has one ltr. So like I said. im just bringing up a point and was curious about it.
I had owned yfz450r '11, it had almost same build: just pipe+ pcV, nerfs, guards and thats all. But on the track it doesnt rip. Most of all becouse of suspension- without stabilizer, shocks, steering stem, soft bar - its too hard to keep in hands. Yes, you can ride fast, jump all tables, but not really long. 3-5 min and your arms are absolutly dead. While on same track you can ride on mx bike 15-25 min for same phisical stress.
Anton Nikitin We've spent a lot of time tuning these shocks and have them working rather well. We wonder how many people buy aftermarket shocks these days and go backwards in performance. For a fast guy at the nationals, well setup aftermarket shocks may help, bur for most racers, it isn't necessary, especially if you think you have to have them to compete. A steering stabilizer would be our next addition after the parts we added in this build. Thanks for watching.
Youth racing is till like how racing was in the 90's. People are either forced to spend 15k+ for a 250 hybrid quad or spend at least 5k upgrading a ltz400 or trx400ex. If a manufacturer makes a yfz450r type quad but with a 250 or 400 motor than it would revolutionize the youth racing scene
Biggest question, is your carbureted YFZ still the stock with and if so do you think you would benefit from having a wider more stable machine? Feel free to follow up if you like and thanks for the subscription!
@@ATVonDemand good call, No it is not the stock width. Only thing left I can do to it is bore it out and I would prefer to not do that. I was just wondering if there were any other advantages to getting fuel injection.
If you buy a 2014 or 2015 you have to spend around 1000$ to get rid of the "bog" just google it, you'll need a vortex programmer/ECU 700$, full exhaust 300-500, and an intake, FCI is the the best, 250$
A msd blaster or power commander (pcv) will work too, both 300-400$ but the vortex isn't a piggyback controller like them, it's like a new ECU and much better although expensive
Hey I have the same pipe and power commander on my 2014 yfz450r. I am getting that same bottom end bog. Can u tell me what map u used on the power commander to eliminate the bog.
For now we are using the map that came with the Power Commander for the full GYTR pipe and filter. It got rid of most of the hesitation. We plan on trying out the map written for the Two Brothers slip-on exhaust and the air box lid removed, to see how it works.
Is it normal for the exhaust header to have a glow at night? Yoshimura told me it was fine as long as I don't see the glow in the day time It only does it at night when I let it sit and idle.
We've seen it on our machines. Just make sure that your machine isn't hesitating at higher RPMs, or backfiring on deceleration. These could be signs that the engine is running lean and needs additional fuel. If you added an aftermarket exhaust and didn't add a fuel programmer you may be running bit lean.
I have a power commander v on it. Set on the map for it, running very strong the glow at night was just a concern. I feel better now thanks for responding.
What are the suspension setting on this yfz? Like how many turns on high speed compresion, how many clicks on low speed and rebound and how much pre-load?
Nstrikers we're not exactly sure why people feel that way anymore. Most trails are 50 in wide and many are being cut 6264 in wide these days for side by sides. Do we really still need sport quads in the 46 inch wide range?
+Anthony Schmidt depends on your definition of race ready. my best advice is to get ahold of some front shocks that do have reservoirs, and then send them out with your rear shock and have them revalved. that will be dollar per dollar the best value and most important mod. after that, tires obviously. a 8" beadlock in rear. 19" in back 20" up front. then maybe a 13:1 piston and have 4 stroke tech port the head.
david salcedo no, we did not use an ECU. If memory serves correctly, I believe this was a 20 15 unit. With a Yamaha the biggest problem is low and hesitation. We manage to get rid of about 95% of it with the tuner.. please set us back with any questions you may have.
"One of the main reasons people are worried about racing is the cost. We're out here racing on less than $10000." Yeah, because everyone has $10000 to just go out and buy a brand new quad and race. Most people don't have $3000 to go buy a quad and get it ready for race day...
+marinesniper195 Money is harder to come by. That was the point of this build. Its funny that now we've been criticized by those who thin k our machine isn't expensive enough and now you think its too expensive. If you want to race a new machine, this is about as affordable as it gets. If no one buys new machines and no one builds them anymore, used machine prices will go through the roof. We remember when ragged out 250Rs were selling for 5k back in the 90s.
hey i have a power commander v on my yfz450r and i just installed a powerbomb header and muffler. it shoots a little bit of flames if i rev it and was just wondering how do i re map them that part really confuses me.
You will need to hook your PCV up to a laptop computer to reprogram it. Or you could call a motor builder like DASA and ask them if they will sell you their map for your ATV. With your ATV's year, make, and model Dan should be able to get you a map that will perform pretty well. Or you could ask FMF if they have any support.
I dont need a trail in the forest in our country we have desert I can play their what ever I want I have number1 selling sport atv on planet it's called yamaha raptor 700R SPECIAL EDITION 2015
+ATVonDemand I have a 2008 yfz 450 with a high comp piston at 13.5:1 elka shocks hot rod crank full hmf exhaust ambush tires pro taper bars new starter and solonoid new battery! but it still bogs at the low rpms a little what should I do to fix that?
Lack of turnout is a sure way to get promoters to drop ATV classes. Three wheeler clubs get together and get promoters to allow them to add classes at motocross events. Its a matter of getting sufficient numbers and working with promoters. Running ATVs at the end of the program means we wouldn't mess up the track for bikes, which is another big reason for quads being banned. The most important thing is to go out ad ride and support the people who support ATV riding and racing.
Fox250R Its not about the exhaust, its about the fuel mixture. We recently used an HMF fuel optimizer, tuned it, and had good results, with no bog. It is the second fuel management system we have used. Both it and the Power Commander we used in this test both came too lean off the bottom and needed a good amount more fuel added at lower RPMs.
One strange one for a person who already owns a yfz450r this is very much a budget build . Back in 1998 dirt Wheels took a stock 400EX and turned it into a Motocross ready machine. Their budget for that build was $10,000, the same budget that we used for this build. Fact is, this yfz450r would beat that machine for the same amount of money 20 years later. Of course, you could buy a raged-out used race bike for far less.
