Huawei Watch GT Active user here. For me it's the perfect smartwatch: around 14 days of battery life, has all the sport tracking apps I need. It's really good at tracking your sleep too. I personally don't care/want to have a smartwatch that has all the apps my smartphone has. Highly recommended if you want a simpler watch with class-leading battery life!
@시나브로 No? They are developing their own systems and banning ALL US phones and programs. Read the news, bye bye crap US product, welcome China product. I never liked Apple, I rather have my data collected than paying 2x for 2x less, talking about Apple especially.
I bought the Huawei gt for my dad who is a doctor in his 70's and has heart disease. The 2 main features I was looking for was pulse/activity tracking and battery life because he doesn't want to charge something more than once a week. I'm in my 30's so I would probably prefer the Galaxy watch.
First of all, I thank you for having spoken about the Huawei Watch GT. Because, since the day Huawei presented this product, the same day than its flagship the Mate 20 Pro last year, apart its impressive batterylife, nobody remenbered this "smartwatch" is existing. Mainly, because it's not really a smartwatch but, like you said, it's more an activitytracker that looks like a smartwatch. Also, because Huawei presented its real new smartwatch just a couple of weeks later, the Huawei Watch 2, that runs the same OS than the Samsung's watch, fully compatible with Android or iOS, and fully connected to the world. That watch is the real contestant of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. In fact, the homemade OS runinng in the Huawei Watch GT gives this watch the opportunity to beat the batterylife of every other watches (around 10 days from my own experience), but also denies it of every capacity to be really connected, and so a "smartwatch". The only mean to communicate with the smartphone is the own application of Huawei. And we can't control the smartphone, just hide the notification on the watch. But the arm will wizzle every ten seconds till you open the smartphone to get rid of the notification. That said, and because it is my case, I found that the Huawei Watch GT is a great "smartwatch" for a first experience with this kind of products. It's a pretty watch, well designed, light, and very practical in the all day life. Is it worth the money? Yes. If it is the first time you use a smartwatch, and you don't want a simple band in silicone. Do I want more connectivity? Not the for the moment. At this time, I like wearing the Watch GT every day, but I'm not a hyperconnected guy. The proposed functionnalities seem enough. Which functionnality I prefer in a smartwatch? It's a shame, but I'm not a sporty boy. So, what I prefer is to be notified even if I'm in a noisy environment. And the fact that you don't need to go to the jewellery to change the battery.
IOS Fan nothing but a glitchy mess using my old Huawei phone and Huawei watch couldn’t even use my MacBook Air to download photos or anything else off the phone . From memory this Huawei watch isn’t water proof either which is a big minus .
I've owned the Galaxy watch and although it is beautiful and works superbly, the battery life was only 2-3 days maximum for my usage and that isn't including any sport tracking. I ended up sending it back after less than a week. I've got the Huawei Watch GT being delivered tomorrow and I'm really excited. I only want a smart watch to monitor my sleep, heart rate and to get notifications. This should be the ideal partner for me.
@@Billcfc911 i got it one day ago The functionnalities are limited compared to the galaxy It s really a watch for sport not a watch to extend your phone
I have the Huawei GT watch to go with my superb Huawei Mate 20 Pro phone. Both have fantastic battery life. I have Bluetooth always enabled on the watch, with always on heart rate monitor, weather, sleep tracking every night and notifications. I need to charge it once a week sometimes lasts longer.
Great video! I have the Huawei Watch GT. I never thought I'd buy a smart watch but my old watch died recently and the Watch GT was pretty reasonably priced so I decided to give it a go - plus I thought it would incentivise me to do more exercise. I have an awesome smart phone - the Mate 20 Pro so I don't need or want a mini phone on my wrist (so I don't miss the Wear OS). For me, it's all about the battery. Quite simply it would do my nut having to charge my watch every day. I bought the watch 5 days ago, have been on 3 runs using GPS and it's still got 45% battery. Got to say I'm loving it so far. The fitness app is incredible, and the analysis of my sleep patterns is also pretty awesome. Only negative is the limited watch faces. The design department could do a lot better on this!
Yes quite agree on the battery life. Got mine 5 days ago and its showing 55% battery left. Really would like to see more watch faces from HQ or any possibility of having third party watch faces. Anyone have used any new watch faces please share the site.
@@benedictteok6582 Looking for an answer to this as well. One of the key factors holding me back from buying it as many of these watch faces are god-awful ugly
Very good comparison! I have the Huawei Watch GT and use it very much as a sports watch. I am very satisfied with the features as a sports watch. I mainly use it when cycling and it tracks pretty much everything for cycling. I never listen to music when I'm out training so that feature is no good for me. I agree that if you're after a "toy" and have more money to spend you should go for the Samsung. I can really recommend the Huawei!
I had Frontier 3 ...I have the Watch GT from Huawei. But to be fair,I preffer a watch to customize, more watch faces, maybe sometimes to have a phone call, the menu in Romanian, better notifications support,4 GB of ROM,Wi-FI,Spotify,RU-vid and more apps.Huawei is a good watch, good battery life but is limited. That's why:not too many functions comparing with Samsung, that's why the battery is better.I can not say about Huawei is a smart watch, maybe a fitness tracker looking as a "fake" smart watch.I will sell the Huawei Watch GT and buy a Samsung Galaxy Watch!More advanced and more stylish.Greetings from Romania!
You said that Samsung galaxy watch doesn't work well with iphones, how about Huawei? Is it same, or with Huawei watch and iPhone we have all features working well?
Thanks bro for your video helps a lot but i think ! Saw this video very late .so if i want to buy a smartwatch as i have i phone XR ,so which watch will be grat for mee????? Oh god help me got to confused now a days .....
ofc battery life is the most important. I have a galaxy watch which I have to charge every day. So planning to switch to Huawei watch gt. e-sim, wifi, talking on a watch that all sounds cool but they are commonly useless in ordinary day to day life.
I already have Huawei Watch GT,and works awesome! got it with silicone straps, they are so comfortable and looks great too! but adding something for comparing ,then you should compare Galaxy Gear Sport with Huawei Watch GT ,because it could be much more better compering! anyway, I am happy with my choice and won`t even considering for changing it. Even that I can`t text or answer and speak on my watch! I don`t even need that!
Great review. I bought Huawei based on your review. I have galaxy 9+, incoming call does not show on watch like you, running latest firmware on watch. Any ideas? There's no toggle for phone ringing in the health app
Ok ,scratch that lol.SOLVED.. Seems to be working now, phone calls are buzzing on the watch yay! Self healed IS There any way to get sound on phone call or vibration only?... Let me replace with another question. Is it possible to get more watch faces? Tried to get Huawei id on UK site unsuccessful, is that the only way?
@@hahahihi4632 yes you see it on the watch and it buzzes. works ok for me, buzz is not very strong but works, call shows on screen green and red phone, you can accept call or reject by touching watch. but no sound or beeps.
I think the the Huawei Watch Gt has a quite classical feel and the Samsung galaxy watch might be a little to big. Love you your videos, Can you give information about the Samsung gear s2/classic because I know many people who aren't sure about finding the right watch.
At least with the Samsung you can swim no problem, and it even has a water ejection system (it plays some sounds so you dont have water in your speaker after swimming) I cant tell nothing about the Huawei cause i dont own it
If you're reading this and you are smartwatch newbie, trust me, the Huawei Watch GT is the superior option in terms of cost. It doesn't have the same options as the Galaxy does, but most of the Galaxy options are extremely gimmicky and you'll find yourself not using them much - the Huawei just does the basics very, very well (notably battery life and weight/design). Both are great, but just letting you know that Watch GT isn't a budget version of the Galaxy watch - it's a serious competitor to it for half the price.
If you are talking about using it mainly for sports I agree. However if you just want a smartwatch because you like gadgets and fooling around, the Galaxy does have a lot more to offer. But that is just my opinion. The Huawei won't let you download custom apps, make phone calls, reply to messages or use spotify. All of which are features I frequently use.
@@darioca1566 Yeah pretty much what I mean. It notifies you if someone is calling, notifies you to phone messages, has a range of fitness/sports options and tells the time. If that's all you want a smartwatch for, it's an outstanding option. For me, I'd never want to listen to music from a watch, for example, and consider it just bells and whistles rather than core functionality - but each to their own!
@@tubey84 I agree. For me personally I use my watch when riding my motorcycle. I listen to music with earbuds so me it is a must to be able to control music from my watch and answer calls. So "core functionality" depends on why you are using the watch. I have owned the huawei GT and I totally back your statement of it being a great watch and competitor to its more expensive counterparts. For sports and design wise it is the most useful and beautiful watch I have owned. But for me it just lacked some fancy stuff and I felt I could add to your comment.
Was going for the Huawei but the Spotify integration and the rotating bezel is a major win on the galaxy watch. Plus the galaxy watch is on offer on Amazon. I can always return it and get the Huawei if I find myself hating the battery life 😁
I have the Samsung galaxy watch and was going to swap it for the Huawei watch but in terms of features I prefer the galaxy watch as it has more apps and everything that the Huawei watch just doesn't
Almost negligible. One thing that I noticed while pairing my watch Samsung Gear S3 Frontier with a non-Samsung phone was that my non-Samsung alarm app didn't show the option to stop or snooze the ringing alarm. However, different interfaces in the Samsung's watches look way more attractive and well-designed than all of the others "period!".
Its not as good cause one thing is the rotating bezel which rocks and that click is smooth and it responds quite well the Huawei GT uses Google wear OS what is that its a gay stupid operating system with no sense at all i prefer tizen OS on the galaxy watch as i rock the 46mm
@@robertphilip6649 No. The GPS is always ON on the watch. You can't turned it off. Works flawlessly and very accurate. It lasts me 2 weeks battery life. If you turn off the heart rate monitor it will last you even longer but I never do.
First, congratulations on an excellent review! Personally, I would turn the music down a bit more since what you are saying is more important - but I have Asperger's and don't like irrelevant music. I Am in the mood for a new watch and had not seen these two. I listened in detail and decided I very much like the Huawei. 1 - it appears not too intrusive. 2 - the time display looks really nice. 3 - you didn't say it does not work with an iPhone. Call notification would be useful but I can life without it. 4 - the recharge and battery life is great. When they use Graphene supercaps, they can energy harvest from wireless signals too so won't need physical recharging at all. I love the Samsung Fold so would go for the Samsung watch but I just like this one better. Thanks for the review!
He just gave us a BIASED reviewed of Samsung... if I talk about looks, Huawei looks more classy than Samsung.. I am a Samsung fan and I use galaxy s9+ which is the best phone in the market after galaxy s10 but the battery life on this watch is pretty much bad... So I ll give a thumbs up to Huawei gt👍
Um you know the huawei watch gt is a sport watch and the Samsung galaxy watch is a smart watch... So you shude comper the huawei watch 2 vs the Samsung galaxy watch becuse the huawei watch 2 is a smart watch and not a sport watch...!
I am an iphone user and would like to get the galaxy watch because of spotify. You mentioned messages, emails etc will not work not even for notifications only?
Depends on how you will use it if you want a more sports oriented watch go for the gt if you want a more tech focused watch go for the Samsung. I use huawei because I use it on my runs.
I have a gt. There is no apps and no ability to download them. Just health weather and time. You also receive notifications you can't reply. It's a sports watch in its core so if ur looking for a cool watch with apps and all that good stuff then stay clear from huawei
The Huawei watch GT is definitely the better looking timepiece of the two. And the battery life on it is an absolute monster. Having said that it's not a 'smart watch' in the traditional sense and the functionality of it in regards to apps is less than the Samsung. You need to ask yourself whether you really want to be typing SMSs on your wrist when it's much more efficient to use your phone? As far as I'm concerned I'm much more happy with a watch that costs 40% less, looks 40% better and sends me the relevant notifications to me where I can then pull out my phone which is much more efficient at doing all the activities that 'smart watches' are trying to accomplish. It's Heart rate/sleep tracking is also as accurate as Fitbits which helps. The only thing I'd like to see on it though is the audio storage and pairing with BT earpieces in the unlikely event I may actually be doing exercise without my phone. Other than that I'll stick with my 990kbps LDAC to the Sony XM3's that a smart watch currently is not able to do.
Gt for me..... do enyone know are smartwatches harmful personaly not beleve all is safe until they have limits....they are safe when they are not conect with your phone.it is my theory. Can someone tell me are they harmfull or mot?
Watch GT has a good battery life but that's all really it. It's basically a fitness band shaped like a watch, and that's because it does not have smart watch functionalities like installing apps, receiving calls, viewing studio images and replying to messages.
Shame you don't really go over what apps you can put on the watches, I pretty sure the Samsung watch does not support many third party apps, such as WhatsApp
There are so many watch faces (with a lot of great ones) to choose from on Samsung Galaxy Store for their watches (Gear S2, Gear S3 and Galaxy Watch). 👍 Different interfaces in the Samsung's watches look way more attractive and well-designed than all of the others that I've seen (including Wear OS, Apple Watch, Pebble, and some Chinese watches).
