Please upload more of these. This is such a brilliant exercise, the key I think is to sing and internalize the notes first without your instrument, then sing and play it back...

finished it in one go and i was like "aaahh is it already over?" some notes were confusing at first tho so i'm thankful that it was played twice before the answer was revealed

Having relative pitch I found it a piece of cake. Every level had its difficulty but I never missed a note from the first play. Very good work. Thank you!

@@YxssBeats Not infinitely perfect I guess. It requires concentration like anything else. And distractions can be distracting. For example; this was over one year ago and I cannot remember it, clearly I have been distracted since!.

My how the once-mighty have fallen! 20-30 years ago, I used to be really good at “pitch-sequence dictation,” but I started floundering at about #9! With the help of such exercises though, I’ll get it back, thank you! (Just a waaaay-minor nitpick: These aren’t really “melodies.” Full-blown “melodic dictation” is equally about capturing rhythm as well as pitch. These are _pitch sequences_ rather than true melodies.)

When the flats and sharps started it got harder. Had to stop at 15 cause I was completely lost and the notes didn’t make sense anymore

@@justinevanesperto no, that approach won't get you far. Learn to play an instrument, sing, take your favourite songs and try playing them by ear. Keep failing and you will get there. Make it fun.

Well, one of the melodies matches the first notes of Frere Jacque (CDEC), by chance. All the melodies are created from scratch, based on strategically increase in difficulty.

Whoa that E flat came out of nowhere! I feel very attacked right now. So well up till there! Thanks for making these. I haven’t really performed in about a decade but I am remembering that I am decent at playing-by-ear 🎶 I still suck at counting rhythms though! 🤡

It's odd because if I had the piano right in front of me, I could do it instantly, but in my head for some reason I cannot. Shows me that I really need to practise in my head A LOT!

Yes on piano you can see the keys and remember the sound or just twiddle around a bit to get to the note but in ur head you have to be sure with the intervals

@@suprovo5117 it's the sharps and flats that mess with me. I have relative pitch and close to pitch perfect, not quite, but it frustrates me when I can't get pitch perfect every single time.

Level 19 should zoom out BEFORE the melody is played so that people who want to test their ears are not confused. As it stands, it JUMPS to the range you're now having to work with as the high note is played. I still managed to figure it out even if it became a bit uncomfortable around levels 15 thru 20.

I got 19-20/20 since I was simply too hasty on the last part, out of the compulsion of wanting it to end but I should be 20/20 since I can easily determine the note without comparing it to other notes.

Why is relative pitch tests always about naming notes? I don't know any of the notes I sing but I don't miss.

I can sing it too but that's not the purpose of the video, for example i'm using it to try and play the melodies on the guitar, if i can tell what the interval is then i can guess where is the next note, same thing on any other instrument, you cant just "sing it" when playing a instrument, not when you're a begginer that is.

When I listen to pop songs, where I cannot figure out what every note is, I have no clue what the intervals are. If not for perfect pitch I would have the worst ears in the world.
